I'd be looking at two things, Tyre Pressure & Wheel Alignment

Yeah, so would I. Problem is....both were checked and both OK. Of course minor W/A adjustments were made, but nothing significant. Pressures were 34/36 as recommended by BJ. They couldn't come up with any other explanation than crap tyres.

If these tyres were the standard XT ones, I think we would've heard more about them. But they were the ones that came with the optional alloys (and are also an unusual size)

As I said, some others on ff have had similar experiences.

My wife is a conservative driver. She keeps telling me how she has never had a speeding ticket.

Tyre wear on the VR Calais is nothing to write home about.......

The problem, I have discovered, is she only knows two pedal positions....

Flat to the floor to 60 kph.... and hard on the brake pedal to stop.

yeh, no speeding tickets, but quite severe accel/decel can do just as much damage.

That and same as justind points out...

I ask: "Honey! Have you checked tyre pressures on your car?"

she responds with a blank expression....

"Tyre pressure? What's tyre pressure. That's your job!"

I'm intrigued though as to what tyre pressures others are using.....

I'm running the original Dunlop SP Sport 3000 235/45 x 17 on the ute.

Almost 12000km down, and look good for at least another 20000km

I ran my original tyres as per the placcard on the door. I got just over 30,000kms on them. They were about 260 to replace but I got a special on the P Zero Nero's and will never go back to the OE Tyres. FYI I got the P zero Nero on special for 290 ea but recomended retail at time of purchace were 512

15,000 K's on my T and I've just fitted new rears, they were totally worn. The bloke who fitted them said the toe in / out adjustment was loose, thus it spun in and out of alignment while scrubbing the sh!t out of my tyres. If the alignment looks OK, you may have something loose there also, its just that it happened to be pretty good when they checked it. Get the adusters checked to see if they are done up tight.

First thing you should check is the tyre pressure around 32 to 38 psi and you need to rotate your tyres regularly as the the front tyre wear quicker than the rear as well the dunlops are a soft tyre maybe try a toyo transpath that I run on my turbo .I have seen this wear on many T's as :innocent: I now a Pedders suspension store.

someone didnt swap your suspension for AU suspension without looking maybe. :innocent:

Nah, can't be that ... they'd still be going strong well after 15,000 on an AU with IRS.

Back to topic - First answer is tyre pressures as has been said already. A loose rear end could also be the culprit but this doesn't explain the front ... anyway you say the WA has been checked already so ...

BUT don't ignore the fact that several Dunlops, particularly the SP3000, have had build quality problems of late. Maybe there is a problem with the LMs as well - it's worth a complaint to the dealer or (13ford) to see what answers you get.

BTW I agree that the pressues should be up around 40psi front and 36psi rears.
