Do you have any photos of the display with the overlay superimposed over the TV picture? I would be keen to see it.

Thanks

Attached are a couple of photos with the overlay. As you will see, they use sections of the original 'Home' screen.

If you switch off the STB, you get a blank black screen. So I suggest you have a switch to return to the normal Ford screen..

Regards

Cutsnake

Thanks for the photos.

Yes, I will definately use a switch.

Please keep us updated on your progress.

I've just got to now go and find a plug for the ICC. :crybaby:

They are the normal television channels, only difference is they are much clearer than analouge reception...I have attached a copy of a sample of the channel 9 HD channel.

You will need to remove the tissue box section to get access to the connector for Satellite Navigation, if you need images on this, give me a PM and I will uplaod some.

Paul

Thanks all for the great info provided in this post. I've installed a Teac DVB400 and I must say, the whole thing is very impressive. I installed mine in the boot (under the parcel tray driver's side) and installed a loom under the door scuff trim to the dash. I did a few things differently though. I didn't like the idea of the switches to select between the Ford display and the TV, so I added some control circuitry to the Teac DVB400 to automatically enable the Aux audio and ICC video inputs when you turn on the STB via the remote control. I designed this up on some vero board in about 30 mins. You still need to select AM on the ICC to go to the Aux audio input, but that's all. Also when you select the Off on the remote for the STB, it automatically switches back to the Ford ICC display. Overlays, etc still work. I also passed the IR signal line up to the ICC input (as suggested in previous posts). Because the RGB & Sync lines travel from the boot to the dash I used shield cable for these connections, which go to the individual ground points for each in the SCART connection, likewise for the audio. I used Jaycar SVHS cable (which is a twin line shield coax) and stripped the outer plastic to reduce the physical size. I then used three runs (ie six coaxial lines) to pass the signals to the ICC/Aux audio inputs. Additionally to improve recption I added a 20db RF amplifier to the input of the STB. I have done some experimention with antenna design, and found a simple dipole of approx 65 cm length (about 32 cm per side) is best (this is for about 200MHz) where most of the VHF Digital channels are located in Metro Melb. This is too long for the UHF freq (SBS and regional Commerical channels). Shortening the dipole improves signal for these UHF channels. I don't like the idea of having a antenna on my parcel shelf, so I am currently investigating a few other options, including using the rear window demister or adding a "stealth" antenna of my own. And the great part of all, the cost. Would you believe I did a hunt around for a Teac DVB400, and found one at Target in Albury (their last one, which was in the warehouse, not on the shelf, as it is no longer available, at a special clearance price for $98.50 brand new in the box). I went down there, and found they were having a 15% off sale and got it for $84. I spent about $35 on cables, $40 on the pre-amp (Target had these on 15% off as well !!!), so it cost me approx $160 in total. What a f....... bargin !!!!!

Happy as pig in....

Robin.
