They list Wow as a dealer, I'll try to get a look and some info including price today.

If it really can cure the signal pickup while moving it might be worth the changeover from my Teac.

Funny but I don't believe that it will pickup properly while mobile. I'd love to be wrong!

Can somebody post a photo or video of the picture and sound quality typically found when moving?

Cheers,

Ant

I'll video it this weekend, you'll be underwhelmed with it while in motion!

Hard bit is posting the file, I'll get it up somewhere!

( I'll try to remember-pretty busy at the moment- forgive me if a bit slow with it)

Here's the video as promised, there are 2 clips, one is while stationary the other while mobile. I had to shrink the original Avi down to under 10 megs to get it on the server for free, so there is a bit of loss of quality from compression, so it's not the digital TV at all, it's crystal clear ( while stationary ).

There's no sound in the first clip, no idea why, my Canon must of had a heart attack? After hearing me in the second clip you will all probably wish the sound had'nt worked in that either!

The stationary clip-

and the mobile clip-

They will take a while to buffer and play.

Who me?

If me I have'nt got the HiTV box, I'm running a Teac DV-B400 under the passenger seat, 12 volt with the BA Falcon special NTSC firmware.

I tried checking out the HiTV box at Wow who are listed as dealers but of course they had never heard of it let alone have one in stock! They are supposedly going to find out some info for me.

I got the Teac for a 100 bucks off eBay plus 30 for the antenna, that's about it for having tele, it's just a shame it does'nt work while mobile, if what I've read on the HiTV site is correct then it's to do with the Doppler effect and I don't think we'll be able to do anything about it.

Which begs the question...How come the bloody radio works???!!!

Thanks heaps for those, the second video was a laugh- yes I do appreciate you recording them!

It does looks like it will be near impossible to get anywhere near decent reception- to run digital TV. Has anyone thought about an analogue tuner? The problem that I see with digital is that it is ALL or NOTHING. There is either perfect picture and sound quality- or nothing at all. At least with an analogue tuner, the picture or sound will just go a bit fuzzy every now and then.

So does anyone know how many years of analogue transmission are left?

Hi Guys,

Been following the thread, have got some parts, and made up the leads, and bought a Nordmende Digital STB.

When all connected, I get a picture on the ICC, but the image ir vertically rolling (like in the old days when you had a knob on the back of the TV to stop the rolling)

In the STB menu, I have set the following,

50Hz output : PAL

60Hz output : NTSC

Scart : RGB

When connected to PAL TV via RCA, picture is perfect and still. Connect to the ICC via RGB and get the rolling.

Anyone used this box SUCCESSFULLY on the ICC??

Hi Guys,

Found this PAL <--> NTSC converter on ebay. There is a link to the manual on the page.

It has a 15 pin VGA, s-video and composite input and 15 pin VGA, s-video and composite output. And with a push of buttons, you can convert pal to NTSC, or NTSC to PAL. Use a button to select a source, and it outputs to all three outputs at a time (so converts any source to all outputs).

Using this, make a cable from the VGA output to the ICC input.

Next, conncet your PAL DVD and STB to the S-Video and composite inputs.

As I have Sat Nav, I will then connect that to the VGA input.

You could also take the s-video or composite output to a rear screen at same time displayed on the ICC. As the output would have to be set to NTSC, to work on the ICC, the composite and s-video would also be NTSC, so make sure rear screens accept NTSC.

The unit is about AU$175 plus AU$45 postage, for total of $220. May not do everything the Blaupankt can do, but is dam cheaper.

There was a post around on the video sync specs that the ICC required. Just need to find that and compare to the specs of this unit.

Would mount the unit around the area of tissue holder, so buttons are easily reached. Would also like to see about moding it to switch audio, and switch the screen.

So, unless I hear reasons not to, will probably buy one in the nest week.
