IMO, if you can get the Blau adaptor seperately, go for it.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Where did you hear about the Alpine unit? Any more details? Expected pricing? Does it just allow RCA inputs? This item sounds cool

TheBoss Member 19 Member For: 19y 7m 7d Location: Perth, Western Australia Posted 09/08/05 02:50 AM Share Posted 09/08/05 02:50 AM Hi All,This is still a proof of concept, but as you can see it is quite feasible to have Digital TV on the premium sound colour screen... Yes true Digital NOT snowy analogue!!All up this has cost me under $400. (Can possibly be done for around $300 if your thrifty!)I have temporarily setup:-1 eMtech Digital TV Set top box1 12v-240v inverter1 amplified antennaother bits such as a scart plug and hook-up wire...etc.Some notes:-I chose the eMtech (after trying a couple of different models) due to it outputing RGB in NTSC format (Just what the Ford ICC needs!). The eMtech is also considered a high sensitivity box which is what you need with a small aerial. This is all just sitting on the front seat at the moment as a test, but I intend mounting everything properly..Things to complete:--A new amplified omni directional aerial that is not too big-Tapping into the ICC Infrared and hooking the output directly into the eMtech.-Looking at the possibilty of running the eMtech from a direct 12volt source-Installing in the boot and neating up all the cabling!NOTE: Watching TV while you are driving is a STUPID thing to do. I recommend that anyone that tackles this does it for the sole purpose of watching tv when parked. I also doubt you will get faultless reception when moving at considerable speed anyway!!, but depending on your location you can still get resonable reception (for your passenger ofcourse).I have attached some photos of the picture. The stills do not do it justice, the image is absolutlely fantastic.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Briliant idea and excellent Work. For this price, every T owner would want one. Please keep updating this thread with improvements/new info/prices, etc.Good on ya cutsnake!!!!
Guest Cameron_S Guests Posted 16/08/05 06:14 AM Share Posted 16/08/05 06:14 AM Ok..I've been doing a bit of reading about adding DVD and Digital TV to my Factory Screen in my BA. Excellent information in this thread in particular. In my house, I'm able to pick up digital TV with a coat hanger, and was wondering how I'd go hooking up a 12v STB inside my car with a normal sort of indoor antenna?.. I don't really care about having TV while moving, but while stationary I'd like to get an unbroken picture.I've been looking into a number of 12v STB's trying to find one that fits the bill..Basically I've come across these;Humax F2-1010TStrong SRT-5005Mediastar DT-700TEAC DVB400Normende (Myer/Megamart Brand).I'm not sure which of these are able to ouput NTSC via RGB, but I was also thinking about hooking it up through the DVD units auxilliary input using composite? That should surely solve the NTSC/PAL issue as I'm told the DVD unit I'm looking at will convert any input I throw at it and feed the NTSC signal to the ICC. Anyone have any thoughts on this or suggestions for SD STB's?Also, can anyone recommend a name brand DVD head unit (to install in the tissue box area) that will connect into the factory stereo/screen?.. Besides Blaupunkt? My local store fits a black one (not sure on the brand, but it's not a name brand), but I thought Pioneer/Alpine etc might have a better quality DVD player (without screen) that can hook into it?Cameron_S
