There is an AUX input option, which connects to a connector behind the fuse box and then goes to a stereo socket, whick mounts on the little lip under the tissue holder at the back.

You can plug MP3 players, etc into it using a standard 3.5mm stereo jack, and then press AM on the stereo unit until AUX is shown.

This routes the sound thru the ford unit.

However, there has been mixed reports on the quality, as there is no shielding on the lead.

Here's the video as promised, there are 2 clips, one is while stationary the other while mobile. I had to shrink the original Avi down to under 10 megs to get it on the server for free, so there is a bit of loss of quality from compression, so it's not the digital TV at all, it's crystal clear ( while stationary ).

There's no sound in the first clip, no idea why, my Canon must of had a heart attack? After hearing me in the second clip you will all probably wish the sound had'nt worked in that either!

The stationary clip-

and the mobile clip-

They will take a while to buffer and play.

Thanks heaps for those, the second video was a laugh- yes I do appreciate you recording them!

It does looks like it will be near impossible to get anywhere near decent reception- to run digital TV. Has anyone thought about an analogue tuner? The problem that I see with digital is that it is ALL or NOTHING. There is either perfect picture and sound quality- or nothing at all. At least with an analogue tuner, the picture or sound will just go a bit fuzzy every now and then.

So does anyone know how many years of analogue transmission are left?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Analog TV transmission was supposed to stop in 2008 but I have heard that it will be extended to 2010.

You can still buy Tv's with analog tunners, so untill the govt put a stop to this the cutover date will keep slipping.

I heard that for the cost of a preposed govt public education scheme on Dig Tv they could just send every household a DTV STB...

Has anyone used this Analogue TV Tuner and antenna?

What are the main differences between Analogue and Digital anyway? Sounds like the Analogue is more suitable, for cars anyway. How many people are planning to keep their cars past 2008-2010 anyway?

okay after spending the last 8hrs reading this thread I have come to a couple of conclusions for connecting my dvd player to the icc

1. component to RGB convertor cable from acer projector

2. http://www.highway.net.au/parts/converters/4248 convertor box

3. component to vga

player is auto/pal/ntsc selectable any ideas would be helpful

you dont need converters if you get the correct gear to start with.

get a dvd player that has a European scart plug that outputs NTSC. then you dont need any converter, just a cable to connect it all up.

shock

p.s. scart is a plug type not a pinout so you need to make sure its a European scart which is RGB.

I've already got the dvd player and it's only got standard composite output :( but I scored it for $120 :D

So I have been following this for a while. I was thinking of using the following:

From http://www.carconverters.com.au

Dual PAL or NTSC Multisystem RGB Converter with 12v Relay Switch - $291

Car DVB-T Digital Mobile Receiver (good for 180km/h) - $432

From http://www.brashimports.com.au/

F.M. Modulator / Sender - $36

From http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-internal-Car-TV...1QQcmdZViewItem

2 x internal Car TV antenna - $80

This will allow me to plug in a reversing camera to the sig convertor and then use the digital set top box to plug in a dvd player and maybe an xbox. I could also add two other screens in the rear from the digital set top box. I have attached a pic of what can be achieved. Expensive but versatile and stable. Hopefully anyway! :spoton:
