Guest Ashford Guests Posted 26/08/05 12:23 AM Share Posted 26/08/05 12:23 AM It's been a long time since any info here. I am still looking for a solution to my ICC DVD or STB issue. I think we would all appreciate the results of the experiments. Thanks to all those who have given advice here. There are many answers but a simplified CURRENT solution would be great.regardsAshford

BUTI have a JVC KD-AVX1 DVD player in the tissue box spot, I plug the Teac DV-B400 into it on the line in ( the Teac has the Falcon BA firmware on it to force NTSC for the ICC screen ) the JVC is a North American model and does NTSC natively. ( and plays PAL or NTSC discs luckily-actually it plays anything I throw at it!)I have a commercial diversity antenna for the Teac ( about 30 bucks ).They feed into the Blaupunkt IVSC-5501signal controller which is plugged into the ICC and sound system via the Blaupunkt BA interface cable. You don't have to have a DVD player, you don't have to have the IVSC-5501( or 5502 ) You can just have the Teac, the antenna and the Blaupunkt cable and you should have Digital TV on your screen, (but put the BA firmware on the Teac, very simple process if you do everything right,a tip, you must have a Null Modem Cable, 10 bucks from alltronics). that's about as simple as I can make it. I just had the same unit fitted to my BA on Friday..So now I get DVD, MP3 playback from DVD etc all through my factory BA colour screen.Am purchasing the 12v SD Set Top Box this week for digital TV also. (Probably Normende from Megamart)I assume running through the AV input of the JVC that I won't need to force NTSC out from the STB as the JVC will convert it for me?I'd like to see a few pics of your install to compare how they look.. I would have liked mine more flush with the surrounding console bit, but apparently the unit is pushed back as far as possible due to heater stuff.. I have the CH-X1500 mp3 12 stacker for it as well so I've got 18 discs (with the factory 6 in dash ) and mp3 on DVD as well as you said! Don't know what running out of music means anymore?!!Yeh they are a pretty long unit and the stack of wires on the back does'nt help, but is'nt everything always squishy when it comes to putting something in a car? Will post a pic or 2 when I get a chance to take a photo. Here's a before of most of the gear. It's just my Windows Background.I've attached the background image for anyone that's interested in adding it to theirs!Feel free to use it. Guest Cameron_S Guests Posted 28/08/05 01:37 AM Share Posted 28/08/05 01:37 AM (edited) I have a commercial diversity antenna for the Teac ( about 30 bucks ).<{POST_SNAPBACK}>How's your reception with your antenna? Do you get a picture while moving?I haven't started playing around with the TV side of it yet, but will next week.. I'm just going to start by using an aerial I can find around the house to see how well I can get it to work.. Then look into one of those inconspicuous aerials like the demister type?.. I dunno. I'd be happy just to get a good picture while stationary, not too fussed about getting it while moving, although that'd be a bonus. It's just a matter of the clutter in the car with all these bits and pieces.. aerials, GPS receiver, DVD, etc.. Almost 'over-accessorised'.. hehe Edited 28/08/05 01:38 AM by Cameron_S

When moving it suffers the stutters a little and goes a bit blocky, but I'm not worried about that the passengers watch DVD's.The antenna is basically invisible, I've got a shot somewhere, I'll dig it up. Where'd you get it from and was it hard to wire up? I assume you run RG6 coax or something from the aerial to the STB?Since the JVC unit has the option to output PAL or NTSC in the settings, I'm guessing I can feed it PAL from the STB and it'll convert it. I think it's a pretty safe assumption.I'll let you know how I go.
