just fixed the grounding problem, but now I have a new challenge.

I can not get ANY signal up from the xbox. The xbox is outputting NTSC, the cable works when plugged into my tv, but when I jump into the car, I get nothing!!

The one thing I do get is a screen flicker when I play with the ground wire on the scart lead.

Can anyone who has sucessfully made this lead shead some light on exactly how it was done? :spoton:

I tried getting this up and running a few months ago and despite some assistance from cutsnake (very helpful) I could only get a scrolling picture .

Whats this about a "fullreset inside the box" ? I'm using the normande unit if that makes any difference.

how do you find the Normende unit? (apart from your obvious scrolling picture prob.).. I've been considering buying this one too. Mainly because it's 12v and quite small. I'm hoping video output won't be a problem for me, as I'm getting a DVD head unit fitted anyway which requires a composite to RGB adaptor and I'm kinda hoping that by using the aux. input on the DVD head unit for my digital tv (via composite) that the signal will get converted to NTSC somewhere along the line! :glad: (Or is this just wishful thinking? Will I still need one that forces NTSC output and does the Normende do it?

Cutsnake put me onto the Normande (myer megamart in Perth)because a mate of his had success with it as it does have the option of switching to NTSC.

When I say scrolling I mean to the degree that you cant see a thing other than the menu or a message that says no signal. Chances are that I've wired it up incorrectly however I tried a number of times following cutsnakes editorial which is pretty straight fwd.

IH8PORK, happy to let you know if get it sorted however chances are that that wo'nt happen until someone comes to the rescue.

Perhaps if enough of us are interested we could chip in to fly cutsnake over , put him up at a swish hotel and hold a joint DIY BA tele workshop. :spoton:

........hold that that's not such a bad idea , are you there cutsnake:spoton:

hehe.. Mel to Perth Airfares are bloody expensive. I travel to Perth about 3 or 4 times a year, next trip due around October....

I'll tell you what... send me your box and the wiring loom you made up and I will check it for you and make any necessary fixes. All I ask in return is that you don't mind helping others in the Perth area that may be stuck with the setup....

If your interested, PM me and I will send you my address..

I've read and digested all the great info and have almost everything together to do the job except the BA interface cable and I really don't want to make a half baked one...... cause I'm pretty lousy with electrical tape and solder!

So does anyone know where I can get the Blaupunkt one at a decent price?

Cause I can handle plugging something in O.K. mostly! (though I have had the odd bad moment with that too!)

There is a range of units coming out very soon that will give you either: Xbox input, PS1/PS2 input or SCART input. Pick the module to suit. Also a Dual input switcher for those with factory SatNav or people who want to choose between TV and DVD ....

I have a theory of the antenna design that might sound stupid but maybe someone can give it a try.

Digital TV relies on Multipath signals and the receiver box uses the best of those signals for decoding. I was wondering if you could install more than one antenna around your car for diversity, ie. one in each corner of the car making 4 antennas all up. Each antenna feed would go into outputs of a 4-way splitter and the input of the splitter going to the set-top box. 4 antennas would have a better chance of getting the best signal thus reducing black or blocky pictures. Not sure if this would work but its just a theory.

To make the job a little less ugly you could use a very thin bit of wire as the antennas and possibly stick them on the sides of the front and back windscreen. If your digital reception is in the UHF frequency range you could fine tune the antenna lengths to less than 50cms (1/2 wavelength) making it an ideal size for a car. Theres a bit of maths here but Im sure you ppl that know about this stuff are able to calculate this.

Confused? So am I. I just cant get down in writing of what I have in my head.

Oh by the way XR6T, I wish I had one!

Thanks guys..due to a good hearted member I have my cable!

Thanks mate..you know who you are!

Now does anyone know how the hell I get my stupid Teac DV-B400 to accept the NTSC BA version firmware I'm trying to force feed it!

How convenient it looks like Hustler knows!
