Had a XR6T Ute towed in about a month ago, a leg fell out of bed. Big mess, left more motor on the road. Ute was fitted with a APS Phase II kit (as far as I am aware), Ford rejected the claim for a short motor. Customer had to cough up 1500 odd beer tickets for a new short motor.

Could have been faulty manufacture, could have been through negligence of the owner, could have been due to the mods, could be a lot of things.

Just thought id add that one in.

I wonder how long the outcome would take if one was to fight this under the trade prac act, making Ford prove the product caused the failure & wether or not that the power levels used in the car were within the safe working parameter known by Ford

ps. I love you Ford

Would also suggest that if you are buying a new second hand car you check with Ford first to ensure it is still under warranty.

Or do you need a signed statement from the previous owner that he never did a drag racing, etc......

I just purchased a 6 month old T from a delear with the extend ford warranty, was told that the car needed to and did pass a 100 point inspection before it could be offered (sure this is just talk). The car is completely original, and is likely to remain that way, but I now have 7 years to ensure I dont have diff or brake problems.
