Guest SS75 Guests Posted 29/04/04 02:09 AM Share Posted 29/04/04 02:09 AM I work for one a diesel engine company and think that unless Ford could prove the mod exceeded the max. limit on a failed part they would have to warrant it.Eg. If the diff failed and they claimed it was the APS kit, if you could prove that the kit did not exceed the max input or torque of the diff then they could not deny the claim regardless of the the fact that the engine output has been increased. How can the increase cause the diff (for example) to fail if its within the manufacturers limitations. From experience here, we have covered warranty on engines even when it is clear that the engine has been modified after the event providing that the mod has not exceeded max limits on other components. Eg. If the customer bought the engine with a set engine speed of 2600 RPM then decided he needed 2900 RPM, which is still under the max speed of 3000 rpm, had the pump changed and broke the crank we would still have to cover this under warranty. I think FORD are just speaking !Not that I want to test the theory

Now the Ford passenger car range max specs........................... seem to have fallen off the available information sheets!!!!CheersLachlan

Customers must also be informed that any failures to factory components that can be attributed to the modification, will not be covered by the Ford Express New Vehicle Warranty. I find that very interesting! All these dealers offering unchips and xedes or whatever the mod maybe and saying that the car is still covered under warranty are misleading the customers! Is it possible that individual dealers could provide there own limited warrenties on the bits (and related bits) that they mod ?Geea.
Guest LOK@ChipTorque Guests Posted 30/04/04 11:51 PM Share Posted 30/04/04 11:51 PM Yes it is Geea. Several that I have heard of have done that for years. How well it is documented I don't know but if things continue down this road, we might even consider something in the same style ourselves.Lachlan

Big mess, left more motor on the road. Ute was fitted with a APS Phase II kit (as far as I am aware), Ford rejected the claim for a short motor. Customer had to cough up 1500 odd beer tickets for a new short motor.Could have been faulty manufacture, could have been through negligence of the owner, could have been due to the mods, could be a lot of things.Just thought id add that one in.
