Used to get a lot of Q's last year especially in Tassie

you should live here, it doesn't stop can't go nowhere without a total stranger coming up to ya and chatting about the T. Not many around over here though compared to N/A ones. Most people just want to see under the bonnet

Get quite a few looks or  when I'm out in the country.

Just recently up in Rockhampton, I was being begged by a bunch of random students to "show off" in the uni carpark.... but since I'm well known by staffers there from my undergrad days, I didn't succomb to the peer pressure. :spoton:

Don't usually get quizzed by strangers while in the city, but always get fellow country T owners waving as you drive past or people walking over to have a chat. Gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

I had a classic on the weekend. I was dumping rubbish at the transfer station and the bloke who marshalls all the traffic came over to me as I was unloading all the rubbish. He started asking all the usual Q`s and then asked if he could sit in it !! He was a real ford fan ( owned a original phase III HO !!! )so I said no worries. We must have spoken for about 20 minutes and I only got away when all of the other drivers started honking their horns because he wasn`t doing his job.

I have had mine less than a month and have already been pulled over for 2 RBT's.

Both times they asked for my licence but they didn't even look at it. The Officers each raised (in general conversation) my XR8.

"So this is the new XR8 is it?" one said. Real subtle. :k24t:

Now on a completely unrelated matter I 'accidently' lost traction :spoton: 2 days before the easter long weekend leaving a servo and I didn't see the highway patrol parked 3 meters to my left. :doh2:

After giving me a neg driving charge he then wanted to talk about my car???

He wanted to know my fuel economy and how good it goes. He had a VY series 2 and was getting a XR8 at the end of the month. He was getting all excited talking about it but strangely enough I was not in the mood for talking.

People in rural areas are more keen and open to come up and talk about the car and have a sticky beak which I don't mind at all. I am always more than happy to preach the virtues of the blue oval and the big BOSS engine. :k24t:

just about to hop in my car after filling up at the BP, and an experienced copper (had some stainless steel studs on his shoulder) who was just about to fill up started to ask how much it cost me, the fuel usage, how much power its got, insurance etc.

Seemed genuine in the questions. Was a bit chuffed when I finally got in the car and gave it a little without spinning the wheels when leaving.

I had my T in at a hand car wash a month ago. The guys start washing it, working their way around to the back, see the badge, and before you know it the bonnet was up and they were all over it. Scary thing is, they knew more about it than I did. :w00t2:

During a random breath test, I had a copper say to me 'So how ya liking it?' I said 'not bad, pretty quiet but the people seem nice'. He said "I meant the turbo, not the town' and laughed. I said "Oh(duh) Not bad. " He was also driving a T and made a point of saying it was quicker than the SS he was previously driving. :dohdoh:

Stopped for petrol one day and one of the attendants kept walking past and staring at the car. When I went inside to pay he said "what's that thing at the front ?"

I said "that's my wife you ars*h*le !"

He said, "not her... the thing in front of the radiator...is it an intercooler and did you put it on yourself ?"

I went "Oh that....nah it's standard on all of the XR Turbos" ( as if I knew what I was talking about ).

He said "Hadn't noticed them before"

I got home and made sure there was nothing stuck to my car that shouldn't be there.

I was breath tested at 10ish in the morning on Concord rd Concord then asked about the car in december 2002. I'm sure that's the only reason I was stopped.

I got done for 78 in a 60 zone a few weekends ago, mea culpa - entirely my error.

First ticket I've had in years (4 or so, so that pissed me off moreso than the $100).

Anyway, almost the first thing the Snr Conny said to me when he walked up was "bet you have a hard time keeping this under the limit, huh?" We had a bit of a chat, but I still got the ticket....
