Simon best of luck. I am genuinely disappointed for you, especially after the excellent treatment afforded to you over the T series compensation. Where has that mindset gone?

Hi HSE2,

Yes, kudos to Ford and especially the dealer for arranging the free Brembos when ordering my GT as a previous T series owner. As to where the mindset has gone, you need to drive my car now l guess. l would happily return the Brembos for a driveline that was as it should be in a $60k car.

Zap > l llive 3 hrs from Melbourne. There are no local dealerships that l would trust going from my past dealings. So its off to Melbourne for issues such as this. l have been 3 times now, takes a whole day and nearly 500km round trip. l'd say that's getting off my arse. As l have previously posted, getting a reputable diff place to assess the car is the next step after l get brushed off, which l now have been. l have already asked for recommendatsions for a reputable place in Melbourne but so far, no one seems to know of anywhere.

All in good time mate.

They even said that if he goes ahead and gets a supressor or other gizmo fitted and later on the ICC sh*ts itself he can kiss his warranty on it goodbye.

That’s an excellent point and as I have mentioned already to Simon on another forum, I would only go as far as getting a quote and maybe a report from an aftermarket driveline and/or diff expert. I would DEFINATELY NOT recommend he go ahead and have any work done on his car by anyone other than a approved FORD/FPV repairer.

That would be one sure way of letting Ford off the hook (so to speak). You would be taking away their choice to fix it and therefore ensuring they distance themselves from the issue totally. Sad, but still relative I think. Remember they haven’t said they would NOT fix it, they are just asking for more time (at this stage).

Very interesting tactics……damn it.

CDAA,

I agree 100%. I had issues with my Rear suspension. I took the car to Pedders and got a report and went back to Ford. They did not agree / believe with the report but ended up replacing replacing the rear shcokers any way. I then took it back to pedders and they rechecked the shokers and the old ones were definately stuffed...

So yeh. Go to the 3rd parties, get a report and go back to Ford to discuss.

As always our summation and ideas on things are pretty bloody close.  Where I differ is that in 1998 Ford struck on a set up that worked well.  It found its way under models 4 years later relatively untouched.  Am I looking for values from 1998 in 2004? No.

Very interesting perception Ian of your experience of the VY, AU and BA BOSS powered vehicles like mine. We both seem very close in our experience of these cars; yet differ in way we have perceived each car as a driving experience. That’s Interesting.

What you consider is some respects a quality, I consider an experience, which was good for the time, yet, not entirely necessary in a 2004 performance vehicle anymore. We could discuss this in detail, but I think this is a whole new topic within itself don’t you think?

I guess at the end of the day we are looking for our own qualities in a car. I agree the BA has turned the page, but for better or worse only the paying consumer can decide. I’ve voted yes and you’ve quoted no…..for now.

I do agree with your position with Simons experience with FORD/FPV and I also wish him the best of luck.

Cheers,

Colville

 Fellow diehard! :spoton:

My admiration for the GT was strengthened today when I drove my dealer principals personal GT, to compare the short shift/standard shift in the Tremec. Apart from the short shift, he had the complete Manta exhaust system fitted, sounds great, but apart from that same as mine. These cars are fantastic....really!!

If you really love manuals go the short shift it's worth it. :spoton:

Best of luck Simon

Diehard, I'll confess to :spoton:

mmm, the short shift sounds like a great idea. The current long shift is really the only thing I don't like, but its a small gripe in the whole scheme of things.
