Guest Fordfed Guests Posted 21/02/03 08:57 PM Share Posted 21/02/03 08:57 PM I know all about the box guys. The 450Nm tourqe limit is a safe limit from the factory, the boxes can hande much more, especially if the xr8 clusters are in the xr6t box. I know for a fact and have known 2 xrs with stock boxes running muchmore than 450Nm. My old eb was dynoed with 500Nm at wheels and ive got this mate with an EL xr8 manual, and hes got about 310Kw at his windsor and his box has never given him any trouble. Sure if we start pumping 15-20 psi, the box will pop, but for people who dont need to go nuts and are happy with a 13.0 1/4 mile, the box should be ok. Guest Fordfed Guests Posted 22/02/03 08:54 PM Share Posted 22/02/03 08:54 PM Hey blowneb. My Eb xr6 was far from stock, has a stainless 21/2 inch system, pod air cleaner, bored out throttle body, shaved and ported head, super saloon racing cam in it (I initially had the revvier cam in it, but I changed it for the torquier one). I spen $900 on a custom chip which picked me up 10 Kw believe it not, its only done 65000 km so the motors immac. My 60 ft was 1.95 sec or just over 2, I cant quite remember. Yeah man...its a wicked car, guys in skylines, vx ss's, wrx and silvias all laugh when I pull up at the lights all confident, then u should see the look on their faces when I dust em. Ive had so many people demand to see the blower, most guys think its super charged and I have to actually pull over and lift the bonnet to prove it, cos they just dont believe me. A mate of mine craig, owns a VX GTS (300kw). He pulls 245rwkw.Another mate Bryan with a VX SS (225kw) with just an exhaust pulls 221rwkw.(so that's only 24 rwkw for cars that are supposed to be 75kw at the fly different)FPV-TC NSW club President's 2001 Mustang Cobra (240 kw) pulls 180 rwkw. (stock as a rock)Yet a Series 3 TE50 (250kw) pulls 210rwkw. (also stock as a rock)(a 30rwkw different for cars that are only 10kw at the fly different)Me - my little baby is very consistant on the dyno. ranging from 179.8rwkw at Croydon, to 179.0 rwkw at Injection Perfection, to 185.0rwkw at HP Hero's. Guest Bathrone Guests Posted 23/02/03 02:44 PM Share Posted 23/02/03 02:44 PM The pistons are cast, that is known. They are not forged. As Ive been saying all along, I feel that with appropriate modifications 17psi on Optimax is realistic. Engines with similar compression ratios have shown this to be a practical truth - and as well, the ECU on the BA is advanced as is its knock sensingQ: Does the motor have piston oil squirting? At 17 psi on 98 RON fuel, I calculated conservatively that ~450kws would be seen, with factory camshafts and totally streetable.Whats needed for this Ford to become a true classic in the eyes of enthusiasts, is for someone to come along and take total command of the ECU. that's the issue - all the mechanical issues have allready been widely solved in the past on other machines. The issues facing the aftermarket now is they have to embrace each models ECU.
