Guest Fordfed Guests Posted 20/02/03 09:09 PM Share Posted 20/02/03 09:09 PM Recently took delivery of my white xr6t in adelaide, god what an animal of a car. week after I bought it I took it to road and track in adelaide to get a dyno read out. Stock as a rock I pulle 169kw at rears which impressed me. Alot of people would think that's not that high, but ive had alot of experience with dynos and 169kw at trears for a stock car is very impressive, considering a 300kw GTS pulls about 180Kw at rears. I had an EB xr6 and the best it pulled on that dyno was 147kw and I got it to run a 13.87 1/4 mile. That was with a dropped exhsaust and the front right light taken out to feed my pod air cleaner more air. This eb wasnt even turbo chareded, it was a real animal and so many people underestimated it on the street and got blown away all the time. I havnt taken my xr6t to the drags yet but im expecting a 14.1 or so, that's in street trim.A mate of mine had an old boost controller laying around, so we decided to hook it up and see what we could get out of my xr6t. The maximum amount of boost the ecu will allow u to pump is an aditional 1.6 psi, totalling 7.6psi. I acctuall pumped the maximum that the controller would alow, about 17 or so, and as soon as I got it on boost, the engine just screamed, I got frantic wheel spin and the computer shut the motor down. So until I get my computer upgraded, im gonna have to live with 7.6 psi, which is a huge improvement anyway, its pulled 176 at rears now, and that equates to about 270Kw at motor already, cant wait for more boost. Guest JESMAL Guests Posted 21/02/03 01:41 AM Share Posted 21/02/03 01:41 AM THAT'S FARKIN SWEEEEEEEET!!!!! Bloody 7.6psi boost! Wonder how it'd feel like if it actually could handle 17psi....bloody F16 fighter jet I guess... Damn....you guys (BA XR6T owners) got to get your ECU cracked ASAP! Guest JESMAL Guests Posted 21/02/03 02:19 AM Share Posted 21/02/03 02:19 AM Errmm......don't get too excited.....better consult someone regarding the strength fo the gearbox. Also, you'll have to think about the pistons and injectors. Sure, we can up the boost anytime, but can the other components hold together....better be safe than sorry. Guest cul08r Guests Posted 21/02/03 02:52 AM Share Posted 21/02/03 02:52 AM Fordfed,I hate to dampen your parade, but If you have a 240kw car, doing 169kw ATW, then getting an extra 7kw from addin 1.6 psi is good. But it is never gonna be 270kw at the block. Try the maths again. You might be looking at just over 250kw, or there abouts.I have a WRX so I know a little about kw conversion, AWD systems aside...Other than that, thanks for the info. I might keep my boost controller for the new wheels.

Guest cul08r Guests Posted 21/02/03 03:12 AM Share Posted 21/02/03 03:12 AM Jeez Fordboy1981,You allowed us a measly 13 minutes to read your first post before wanting a response. Man. To answer you, I guess we will have to wait for some to start blowing etc b4 we know what they're good for. No-one except Ford are going to know any longevity issues, and I doubt any aftermarket performance companies are going to have completed their research yet, so you'll just have to be patient. Like anything brand new, there are heaps of unknowns. Like when the Ver 5 STi came to OZ, heaps of them blew because the ECU was programmed for 100ron Jap spec fuel, and until they localised the ECU for 96 ron (to be safe) there were problems. Piston #2 was leaning out at high revs. Caput...Patience son, patience. Or get a job at Geelong...
