Scotty I would would not say Ugly, he's a good looking bloke in his own right,

However I do not know whether I would want to see him in a G

I drove the Geea mobile the other night and FARK ME! Did not get to much chance to open her out, due to Glenhuntly rd tram tracks and a :msm: load of traffic. But very, very nice!!! :spoton:

All I can say is I want one! Now I know it's going to cost me money

It was nice of Geea to offer me a job to pay for it, I am going to have to tone up though. Don't know about his fettish either, apparently he wants me to dance with my Sandles on!

I think JB must have miss heard me I said "Leather Thong" not sandals. :ermm:

Hi guys, I'm after a bit of advice from those that might know. I recieved a very informative and thought inducing PM, I won't mention the name as its not important to the question. If the person who sent the PM wishes to be know they can say who they are.

Here is part of the PM.

I read your last post where you were now having thoughts about upgrading your intercooler and valve springs.

Before you get a larger intercooler, have you thought at all about using the water spray feature on your performance setting?

A larger intercooler, no matter how good, will reduce the pressure of air being cooled and then sent to the cylinders which will result in lag. As youve mentioned that the performance setting is to be used for drags and the occasional hosing off at the lights of Porsche GT2s and the likes, I would of thought that the water spray option would be ideal. This way you can also get a bit more boost in the performance setting with the heating issue now taken care of - perhaps 290 - 300 rwkw!!!

Now this has gotten me thinking. It all sounds great and makes sense. If it's acurate, I would consider getting it done. I have no reason to believe that its not acurate, that's why I was after some opinions on whether it would work and suit my requirements. Or would I be better off getting an intercooler, (latter when I can afford it).

Ready for your imput guys. :ibrungatorch:

Excellent question Geea,

Some information I have dragged out of the book "Forced Induction Performance Tuning" by A. Graham Bell

Note the following are not direct quotes, just my interpretation of the information.

A good water spray can increase heat rejection by upto 8%. This probably doesn't sound much however you need to think about how much you would need to increase the factory intercooler to achieve the same efficiency increase.

Sorry, I have no idea what the difference in efficiency is between the factory intercooler on the T and the APS or Nizpro units.

It also mentions that the system should be activated by the core or intake temperature (say 10-15degC above the ideal) not boost pressure as this doesn't take into account the ambient temp or the speed of the car.

Given the weight of water you would need to carry I've seen figures of 30 litres for 30 miles of racing, this may be ideal to try at the drags.

Just one question though, are you alowed to use a water spray at the drags because of the risk of dropping water on the track??

Mick

This intercooler question is more relevant I would of thought for us northerners than you Vics. On our last cruise there were a couple of phase 11 APS cars in attendance, both had APS coolers & remarked how their cars performed better with them as they were more effective in dicipating heat than the stocko. There was no menton of an increase in lag or of a pressure drop which, was thought to be a problem when XR6T aftermarket intercolers first hit the streets.

The problem with waterspray is that the spray must have been activated prior to your requiring optimum power, not whilst your flooring it, by then it's to late as your core temperature is to high to start with & quickly rises without any noticeable effect from the spray. So if you can predict when you'll want to give it a hit that's fine. An improved intercooler is always on & will battle the heat better to.

As far as the drags go you can drop water in the staging lanes, many cars do through their overflow radiator systems, however you won't be allowed to run if you're dropping it on the start line.

I have water spray that was fitted by Amberley's Craig. From memory it doesn't let me run that much more power, it just helps temps to be a bit nicer. It came off the aux of the xede and was set to start at 3000rpm and a certain throttle position I think.

The water comes from my washer bottle which I top up every morning, (No soap in there ever though  )

So I don't think you are going to get an extra 20rwkw out of it that's for sure, but have a chat to Ian.

Cheers,

Dean

Some good points there Scotty CCC.

RE: the drags, at Calder you are required to have a container to catch anything from the overflow and this is checked at scrutineering. We're lucky with the T's as its a sealed system. Thus my question about its "legallity" at the drags.

Hi Dean,

I’m not sure if Geea is chasing an extra 20rwkw, though I think that using a water spray would be more about producing power more consistently rather than producing more power.

If that's the case Mick, I think Geea should go for it, it won't hurt. I was just letting him know that it won't help the power that much.

My Phase II puts out 277rwkw and I am still running the water spray.

that's some great imput guys. Thanks Dean, Scotty and Mick. :gooff:

I'll give Amberley's a ring soon and have a chat with Ian.
