ok Mondie ... put your therapists cap on mate .....

driving along a country road at night .... no street lights but a 60 zone ..... the beast is dying to race off in the cool of the night .... I harness her back to 60 .. no biggie ..... then on the opposite side of the road (about 200m up the road) I notice headlights coming on .... I cruise by at 60 .... I notice the headlight belong to a police car ...

I cruise on for the next couple of kilometres at 60ish .... then lights and whistles come up behind ..... I pull over .... wtf ??? a licence check maybe ...

nope .... a magic three pointer from the rear of the court .... somehow he got 83 on his radar ....

oh well .... there is no sense arguing ....

a police officer the size of a barn quietly tells me that his equipment is working perfectly ....

I said to him "if I argue ... I call you a liar" he just gave a smile for a response

he said he was surprised that I would be speeding so close to where I work ... my reply ... "I wasn't" .... but 83 is 83 and you don't argue in Mexico :pooh:

.

.

.

.

I don't approve of speeding and I wasn't speeding last night (I think!!) .... but what gets me is that there is no REAL course of appeal here ... it is all over when the lights and whistles go off at you or the notice comes in the mail ... if I sensed that I would be listened to (and believed) I would appeal ... sad state of affairs :roflmbo:

Ok tthree things you can do here.

1. ask to see the equipment certificate of currency.

2. get your speedo checked.

3. buy a gps that can record your data.

Ummmm always challenge the ticket take it to court. and I witnesed my uncle do this in Orbost in 1979. Request the officer to follow and measure and record your speed for 1km.

Do all this very politely.

I don't think you would get a cop to follow you and check your speed these days, would be nice but not going to happen.

Reminds me of a friends dad who go pulled over after getting booked by a cop standing in the bushes with a hand held laser. Cop asks him why he was speeding and said its friggen stupid to drive at that speed especially with people standing on the side of the road. He replies its F%@# stupid to be standing on the side of the road...

Did they even have speed detecting radar in cop cars in 1979?

Nope they had these wonderfull tapes they stuck across the road you were timed. The point is though you need to know your rights if you think you were pinged for the wrong thing. I hate anyone who boasts about speeding on public roads, but if your in the right you stand your ground.

Again I did not realise this ticket was that old. Police do have quotas to fill and I know this as fact, it is not writtend down but they are expected to intercepy X and write X tickets, the targets change but the end result is the same.
