In a special Motor magazine article a few months back, detailing the development of the turbo engine, it was commented that FPV tried a number of turbos including the 35, and found it to be insufficient. ie. they tested and rejected the 35.

My point is that if the turbo is in fact a GT35 size (as determined by the dia of the turbine wheel being around 68mm compared to 77mm) then the maximum potential for power output is reduced. A GT35 size turbo can only flow enough for about 500hp regardless of what trim compressor is used or housing A/R ratio.

240kw = ~320hp

Who the hell needs 500+hp! <_<

500rwhp is nothing for a road car nowaday. I drive one regularly with good fuel economy and complete drivability. If you thrash it at 250rwhp or 500rwhp it still guzzles fuel. Its just at 500rwhp you need racing compound rubber to get moving and the main cost are rear tyres needing replacement more often. Otherwise it cost the same to run as my stock EA Falcoon.

I read that ford could only hit 220KW at the low safe boost they wanted with the 35 so they whacked on the 40 and hit a nicer 240KW!

I spose we could use 500Horse but then why not buy an XT and do it up if you gonna change the turbo,intercooler,EMS, VCT and all the rest?save yourself 10000 because all that an modded XR-6 like that is going to have in common with a stocko T is the interior!

damn that's an expensive interior!

Friend of mine drive a series 2 rx7 dynoed at 550rwhp, it is an absolute b**ch to drive day to day, and he gets about 200km out of 40 litres.

Raotaries have no torque.... so you need to rev the hell outer them, it prolly did 550rwhp @ 14,000rpm lol

And I was told that the Stock XR6 Turbo is a GT 35/40 35 front and 40 exhaust or the other way around I cant remember lol

There are few T s with 330+rwkws not sure what it is in hp (440?) and they are totally street drivable and mine uses less fuel now than when it was standard. Things have come a long way.

Cheers
