79,200 cans beer destroyed in road train fire - Bourke

10, April 2004

Bourke Police are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a road train and its load including 2640 cartons of beer (:tears:).

Around 12.10am today the road train was being driven south out of Bourke on Kidman Way, en route to Alice Springs, when the driver saw sparks coming from the second trailer.

Stopping the truck, the driver uncoupled the prime mover and semi trailer and drove 100 metres away notifying emergency services. The fire was brought under control around 5am.

The trailer and 79,200 cans/stubbies of XXXX Gold ( :birthdaywish: ) were destroyed.

The southbound lane of the Kidman Way is expected to re-open to traffic later today.

Won't affect me. We all know why they call it "XXXX". You cannot print "SH*T" on the label. :birthdaywish::birthdaywish:

Hopefully traffic is returned to normal soon....Easter, not a good time for it to happen. Sounds like nobody got hurt, most important thing.
