Hi guys, well the topic says it all :)

When I originally ordered my T about a week ago the sales guy took me into another office after we did the paperwork where this woman sold me on the idea of the "Full Care Package". It's a bit under $1600 and includes Rust Proofing & Sound Deadening the underbody of the car, paint protection (she said it would never need polishing and would never fade) and fabric/leather protection so they would never stain. I figured "hey, this sounds pretty good. It's worth it on a $50k car".

I've been thinking about it lately and after reading some posts on this site about the full care package, I'm thinking seriously about going back to the dealer and telling them to jam it up their :birthdaywish: !

That said, I've also noticed a few people with the package listed in their signature so I guess there are at least a couple of people that think it is still worth it...

Well, what does everyone think?

Don't waste your money it's all a load of crap. They tried to sell that stuff to me by sending me into a hot lookin chick pooring herself all over me. I say save the money and give it to APS for some upgrades.

that's my two cents.

If you plan to keep the car for 10 years then yes, it MAY be worthwhile, but I say save your money.

Modern cars do not need rustproofing or underbody protection as they come with it. They also have 5 year corrosion warranty

If you want to never polish your car, take it to a 3rd party place and they will do paint protection for under $400.

For interior protection, just buy some cans of Scotchguard from a fabric place, or again go 3rd party for about $200.

The protection pack is a over priced rort that dealers try to sell you using pretty chicks that have an answer for everything.

I say tell them :birthdaywish::birthdaywish:

Agree with the above, it's a waste of money and a quick money earner for the dealership.

Why do the dealerships always have a sexy looking woman wearing tight clothing trying to sell this stuff to us????

Well, that settles it then. The sales guy is ringing me next week to tell me how the car is going and I will tell him to get rid of the full care package. Thanks for the great advice guys :)

You won't need sound proofing. I was amazed at how quiet the T really is. Even running on the SP9000's

Paint protection... most paint shops will tell you that if you keep your car waxed, that'll be all you need.

As for leather protection. It's, a crock. I had 'Wax Guard' leather protection on my EL F'mont Ghia's seats. When the stitching came away on the driver's seat, it was replaced by the dealer under warranty. They then sent the Wax Guard van out to my office to put the protecton on the new seat.

The next day I found that my black jeans had stained the coating on the seat black - even though I didn't sit in it for several hours longer than they told me to wait.

Anyway, the Wax Guard guy cheerfully came back and cleaned it and re treated it.

I asked him what I do if the same thing happens again, he said he would just come back and redo it for me. Now that is service!

BUT... then he dropped the clanger... he said "if you feel like doing it yourself, just clean it off with an amonium -based product (like Windex) and then treat the leather with Armour-All"... "because that's all we use".

Get that? The leather treatment folk use ARMOUR ALL on the leather. Ho bloody ho.

I'd go for option 1: where you tell the dealer to stick it. ;)

The issue of paint protection is been debated over and over....

I got the protection on mine but the rust and noise stuff I woldnt worry about. As said before - the cars are farkin quiet as they are and rust proofing is already on there.

It depends on what kind of roads you drive on as well. If my car was purely in the city I wouldnt have bothered about teh pain protection....but as I do dirt roads and a lotta highway driving - I thought it was worth the extra expense. But $1600 is waaaayyyy 2 $$$. You shouldnt pay anymore than $500-600 tops!

If you're only using it for city driving - just buy good products and do it yourself. If you're on the open road a lot - get the protection - but make sure they apply it properly (not just wipe on crap like many of them do). The car should be inspected under fluro's for imperfecitons in the paint, then cleaned thoroughly...then the paint protection should be heat treated on - NOT JUST A PAINT SEALER!!!

$1600 was for everything: Rustproofing, sound deadening & fabric/leather/paint protection.

I am still interested in getting the paint protection on it's own, does anyone know how much it costs for Ford to do it? I'll get some quotes from other places in my area before the T arrives just to be sure....
