So do the Mongoose/Pirahna/Cobra systems bypass the factory imobiliser too? If it does, is it a big deal? I assume you would trade a one point imobilser (probably?) for a three point anyway (I don't know the specs on the factory imobiliser).

Then again, are there any warranty or even insurance issues if you bypass the factory gear?

I've had a Cyclops security system installed which cost me around $500.

This has knock sensors, glass breakage sensor along with your usual bonnet

and door intrusion. Also in top of it all it has an additional immobiliser.

Not sure how effective it all will be..... just a bit of peace of mind.

Don't know where you come up with this idea that the factory immobiliser is bypassed - no one has said this that I am aware.

The factory immobiliser is left unaffected by aftermarket alarms.

voy74656 mentioned it in the last post on the first page. It just got me a bit worried but it's good to know the factory gear isn't affected on aftermarket systems.

Hi,

I am after the Mongoose MAP80G Upgrade for my BA xr6t sedan. Anyone know a good and cheap place to get installed around Sydney. I live in inner-west area but am willing to travel a bit.
