I just had a quick look at the Sentry Mk4 mentioned by Scruffman and it looks like the same kind of thing as the Mongoose alarm I mentioned before. Does anyone have any more info on this Sentry system?

I have the Sentry unit and its called the 'upgrade'., Works well but I dont know how effective it would be at stopping theft of the car by someone who knows what they are doing. Because of this I hardly leave it anywhere where it can be stolen.

I guess the same can be said for pretty much all alarms. They are a pretty good deterent and they certainly reduce the chances of theft if somebody decides to have a go but if somebody REALLY, REALLY wants to steal your car, I think you can basically kiss it goodbye. I'm sure they'd find a way... Bastards...

I recall seeing a few complaints in these forums about either the factory alarm OR the Sentry alarm. I can't recall which.

Do yourself a search.

I am an agent of mongoose alarms & can definately say that thir unit will go onto a BA easily. I am also a pirahna/flshpoint agent, & know theirs will also work, I have one on my own XRt. As far as the other things available, you can go for mircrowave sensors, tilt sensors, ultrasonics, glass break sensors, all of which can be integrated into any alarm on the market, the are basically add on extras.

antoher handy gizmo is a personal pager, which pages you when your alarm goes off, but unfortuneatley its range is only about 1km so will work in your drive way or at the movies, but not much else.

another unit that is available is a GSM controlled unit. Its will integrate into most alarms & works like a mobile phone. When the alarm is triggered, it will call up to six numbers & can be turned off only by a pin number which you set, it also allows you to hear & talk to any thieves in the car. Another feature is you can lock & unlock doors with your mobile phone. The biggest down side is you need to pay $10 mopnth to telstra for a sim card. any queires feel freee to message me.

Actually anohter cool gadget I have on my car is a window raiser, when you lock the doors, the windows go up automatically, is very easy to install in the BS & most alarm shops will sell them.

So how much does the Mongoose upgrade alarm usually go for? Which would you recommend between them and Pirahna (I don't know much about Pirahna alarms)? The auto window raiser sounds handy....

Some sites/forums around have mentioned that becuase of the electronics with BA Falcons, you cannot add a after market alarm, hifi etc......

Anyone care to comment and in particular, if anyone has installed an aftermarket alarm system with/without any problems.

cheers
