The problem is that now they cannot match the colour (narooma blue). They have painted the rear tray and turned the car from blue with purple pearl to friggin blue with red pearl. What they are saying is the primer is showing through the original paint and the new paint cant be matched. Telling me my car now has to be fully resprayed so my pride and joy is one dam colour. Anyone had this drama and found a solution. :( Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10027-ba-colours/ Share on other sites

Silver colours are usually the worse ones for this problem - Mercury Silver being top on the list. However beening Narooma Blue, I should think they could match it easily, as one of my work cars AU II Monsoon Fairmont was matched perfectly after a front end write off. How many spray painters have you seen?? Maybe its time to go find another one, if they cant match it depending on your insurer - they will have to give you a brand new car (as it cannot be repaired). HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 5m 21d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 18/04/04 12:23 AM Share Posted 18/04/04 12:23 AM The guys that repaired the passenger door of our N/A had a fun time matching Phantom. Like red, it's a class IV colour (very hard to match). They tried mixing the colour according to the Ford specs, it was 4 shades out. It turned out OK though. Not 100% happy but I'm too much of a perfectionist. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10027-ba-colours/#findComment-112168 Share on other sites
Guest PhilH Guests Posted 22/04/04 11:45 AM Share Posted 22/04/04 11:45 AM Well I had a small ding repaired (a hotel valet backed my T into something hard) a couple of weeks back. The paint match (Blueprint) is absolutely perfect, I just cannot find where he started and stopped. Guest platnm Guests Posted 27/04/04 02:24 AM Share Posted 27/04/04 02:24 AM yep, we've had similar probs. I work at smash repairs and we've had fun matching acid rush ( yellow pearl colour). we've actually had the paint reps out to investigate why the colour they formulate was so far out. we ended up blending the whole side and didnt look too bad, its just the pigments in the colour that throw the shade off on diff angles. the yellow can be understandably transparent, as with other lighter mettalics, but blue I cant see should be that much of a problem as u explain, perhaps like sumone already suggested shopping around for another paintersorry to hear dude, not very good to hear for sumones pride and joy Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10027-ba-colours/#findComment-115732 Share on other sites
Superoo Member 340 Member For: 22y 5m 24d Gender: Male Posted 06/09/04 08:44 AM Share Posted 06/09/04 08:44 AM I've just gone through a rear bumper replacement due to a minor accident (why don't people compensate when driving in the rain?? )I guess I'm after an opinion on how difficult it is to match the paint (mercury silver in my case). I was always happy with the cars paint work but since the repair can see a difference in the colour from body to bumper. It's worse in full sunlight as the original paint has a lot of metallic fleck that is visible whereas the new paint job seems to look more matt in comparison. I've applied a couple of coats of WAX to see if it makes any difference (I'd recently waxed the car before the accident) but still the difference remains. I can post a pic but am more interested if you guys think I'm just wasting my time taking it back to the repairer. I'm really fussy when it comes to this and its driving me bananas . I've checked out a couple of other HgAg cars and there seems to be a bit of variation from car to car (some look OK, others NQR). Guest Scootre Guests Posted 06/09/04 09:06 AM Share Posted 06/09/04 09:06 AM The bumpers on a lot of the BAs don;t seem to match the rest of the car - particularly the lighter or more neutral colours. I believe it's because of the plastic bumper vs the metal body of the car.My XR with it's light silver paint has a slightly different tone on the bumpers. I was going to have a whinge about it but noticed that many are like that. I am in the printing industry and silver is the hardest colour to match up in my work, so my heart sank when someone hit my car, I am almost expecting it to be a little off. They finally got my t back to a state that I am 92% happy with.
