Hi I have a issue with my idle and even in Park the engine will stutter with no acceleration and also just as I accelerat. I have changed the fuel filter now I’m not sure where I should start I’m leaning towards either injectors coil packs or o2 sensor hopefully something simple but knowing my luck . Please let me know if your need any more info.

Hi guys, I have a 2004 BA XR6 turbo that's had high fuel consumption and rough idle for months now. I have changed the oxygen sensor, Throttle position sensor and most of the rubber seals on the air intake manifold/ throttle body and turbo. I've also given the throttle body a good clean and reset the ECU/TPS. The car doesn't feel like its gonna stall any more but the idle is still a bit rough. The needle doesn't sit still and fluctuates up and down over about 100/200rpm. The fuel consumption hasn't changed at all. I know the manifold isnt leaking. There has been no noticeable loss of power. Here are the symtoms: - fuel consumption has jumped from 13lt/100km to 17.8lt/100km - idle was pretty rough. Sometimes stalling at the lights - while accelerating under load when the car still fully hasn't heated up it feels like the fuel cut off comes on, the car loses power and wont accelerate further until I remove my foot from the accelerator. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi All, At my wits end and need some help! My XR6T (2007) is drinking fuel and running rough and engine light on. Checked out the obd2 and had no voltage on O2 sensor 1. Pulled it out and its covered in carbon, replaced it and has helped as car is now at least back in closed loop mode. No engine light now. However Long term fuel trim is up at + 25 on idle so it is still lean (Or thinks ts lean) at idle and as such is running rough. When I take it up to 3000 rpm etc the fuel trims come back down and look to be fine. So im thinking its a vac leak and have spent the morning spraying carb cleaner over everything, and have been blowing cig smoke into vac hoses with a glove over the throttle body to try and find the leak. No luck! cant find the dam leak anywhere. Wondering if there is another way that I can assure myself that the Vac is good. I dont want to cancel it out just because I havnt been able to locate it. How can I assure myself that the vac is fine? In the event that it isnt a vac leak im Wondering what else would drive the fuel trim to do this? from What I understand a bad MAF would do the opposite so I'm cancelling that out. I have had my bolts on turbo manifold loose previously so am about to go see if they need nipping up? Would Exhaust leek drive same behaviour on the fuel trim ? I have also changed plugs, and coils about a yr ago. Appreciate any help! cheers Guys. Pete

Gday Guys, I have been doing my head in trying to research and problem solve this rough idle issue im having with my 2009 FG XR6 Turbo. Last weekend I had the engine light come on, but the car still seemed to be running fine at the time. The next morning I fired it up and it was idling like crap!! I booked it straight into a local mechanic who charged me a small fortune just to scan the computer. He did find a fault with the VCT solenoid. He also checked the coils, plugs etc and they looked ok according to him. He recommended and oil change and went on to tell me that the solenoids can block up with tiny bits of crap which then retards the timing etc etc. The next day I gave it an oil change and disconnected the battery to reset the computer. Fired it up and it was still idling like crap, but no engine light which I guess is a small win. I took it for a spin and the issue was very intermittent, sometimes at an intersection it didn't seem too bad as long as you didn't sit for too long but I also noticed there was an abnormal sound when coming on boost. Sounded like timing then went away as the revs progressed. I did some more research and decided to take the solenoids out and give them a good clean to make sure they weren't caked up with gunk like the mechanic said. They didnt look too bad to me but once again rough idle when we started it back up. I took it to another mechanic and told them the issues, he hooked up the scan tool and found a few fault codes and reset them but nothing to do with the VCT. They also checked for any boost, vacuum leaks but all checked out. What he did find is that 1 of the solenoids doesn't seem to be operating at idle but when you give it some revs it seems to wake up and perform. And no timing issues when he reved it past 3 grand (im guessing due to it not being under load?). So Is this normal? Should both solenoids be working the same amount and in sync? He said that with out pulling it apart and charging a fortune I should start by changing the solenoids but he wasn't 100% sure it would be the fix. I have been quoted $280 per solenoid from Ford so my question is, Are the N/A FG XR6 solenoids the same?? Or are they different, the Wife has one so I was thinking I could swap them and see if it fixes it before paying a fortune for something I may not need. Also are the BF Typhoon solenoids the same? as my brother has one so I may be able to test his aswell. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers guys, keep up the good work Travis

hii im having an issue with my ba xr6 turbo, during low boost the car boosts fine, when boost is higher there is a loss in in power, and it stutters, like there isnt enough fuel going to the engine, boost cuts than back in real quick after boosting for a long period sometimes the engine idle gets real rough for a minute or two than goes back to normal, when its rough idle it seems like all the cylinders aren't firing up, I thought the problem may be todo with spark plug coil leads etcc.. but it only ever EVER does it after long period of high boost.. im thinking it might be valve springs?? any other suggestions??? cheers FORD LOVERS
