  1. Hi Dudes This is my first post on the forum and it seems that I am having an over boost issue and I want to sort it out. So I've got a bf xr6 turbo and after some investigation it turns out it has a turbosmart iwg 75 and seems to want to run around 13 psi. This is setup is run via bypassing the factory solenoid so my plan is to take the wastegate Actuator off and see if I can run a lighter pound spring maybe 5 or 7 and then install a turbosmart boost controller tee for the near future with the plans to run 10 psi So should 1. Take it off with the turbo still on the car 2. Take the turbo and replace the gasket 3. Buy a holden
  2. My 15 fgx has 382rwkw at 15psi with a gt35r and external wastegate. When I accelerate hard its pulling well then it seems to have another big surge. Does the stock ecu on the fgx have the overboost function? Iv heard the sprint does it for like 10 seconds for like when youve gotta do those massive passing manouvers and pass 10 trucks in a row. So could my car be over boosting for a time? Or is it more likely a wastegate issue? Cheers guys
  3. Hi guys, I have a 2004 BA XR6 turbo that's had high fuel consumption and rough idle for months now. I have changed the oxygen sensor, Throttle position sensor and most of the rubber seals on the air intake manifold/ throttle body and turbo. I've also given the throttle body a good clean and reset the ECU/TPS. The car doesn't feel like its gonna stall any more but the idle is still a bit rough. The needle doesn't sit still and fluctuates up and down over about 100/200rpm. The fuel consumption hasn't changed at all. I know the manifold isnt leaking. There has been no noticeable loss of power. Here are the symtoms: - fuel consumption has jumped from 13lt/100km to 17.8lt/100km - idle was pretty rough. Sometimes stalling at the lights - while accelerating under load when the car still fully hasn't heated up it feels like the fuel cut off comes on, the car loses power and wont accelerate further until I remove my foot from the accelerator. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
  4. Ok I’ve read page after page after page.... heres where it starts.... bought a ba xr6 turbo Automatic and it came with a x3 flash device that has custom tunes, base 4-5 psi - 8psi - 10psi. Car drives great no weird noises or anything of the like. The problem I’m having is to do with a overboost/limiter issue. This is the 10psi tune. Car accelerates great but once it hits the 10psi mark it either goes to 12psi or it hits 9-10 and it’s like a rev limit and the exhaust makes an almost ‘flame’ sound? And the boost gauge flickers up and down 1psi. Mostly this happens with WOT. Especially does it when just in Drive and going WOT, not so bad in sport mode because I can shift before it gets to the almost misfire stage and goes weird. Most times regardless of in drive or sports mode it’s around 4000rpm. Sometimes though in drive and sports mode it will rev out and hit boost perfectly and have no issues but it’s very short lived and then it’s back to ‘missing’ 2 minutes later. Now when I put it back to stock it hits 5 psi steady as can be at WOT but as it hits 5000-5500rpm it makes the same weird flame limiter noise. Heres what I’ve tried. •New plugs gapped to 7.5 •New boost control solenoid •Clean throttle body •Tighten all hoses that I can access •Run turbo hose straight to wastegate (hits 5-6psi and goes great •Disconnect battery for 10 minutes and then drive WOT New coil packs will be here by the end of the week as there about the last thing I can think of that I can do myself, there still originals and car has done 170,000ks. So if anyone can help me that would be AWESOME! I’ve read so many threads that seem to be my problem and they either never come back with the solution or I’ve tried what they’ve done to no avail.
  5. So I've just installed a 4" Dump - 5" Cat in preparation to be Tuned on Friday, Problem being I need to drive 6hrs to get to the tuner. Everyone says this will cause Overboost so I took it for a drive to try and activate Limp mode so I would know when it happens and what I'm dealing with rather than finding it all out in the middle of woop woop. Boost seemed to peak at 13psi (OBDII-android device) gunning it in 2nd or 3rd but once peaked it wouldn't boost past 3psi until the engine was shut off, no codes or lights. Made all the regular noises and ran Perfectly but with the power of an n/a xr6 and without the push back into the seat. Is this what normally happens or am I not thrashing it hard enough? Doesn't seem so bad. Also has full exhaust, turbo side intake, stage2 PW Intercooler. Never Tuned
  6. hey guys got my car back from the shop got new injectors and a retune , to replace my dodgy drilled injectors and previous tune, went from 303rwkw to 322rwkw mods are 4inch mild steel exhaust 1000cc ids atomic springs rapid systems v2 cooler pipes and turbo side intake with battery relo nizpro built stage 2 zf with intermediate shaft opt as well molly drive shaft mt streets 275 40 17 xcal 3 race tune for the box from nizpro race tune from TMS with octane booster down in mackay at the strip I managed a best of 11.80 at 115mph with a 1.7 60 the cars full weight stock converter stock turbo street legal tyres drove from Townsville and back , got back to Townsville and the stock turbo died the next day ( 110xxxklms) so I brought a GTX3582R got mtq to port my gate and new flapper and bolted it on with a new oil line with a filter got it on the dyno two days ago and the gate mod isn't good enough to control the boost cant run less than 18psi and cause ive ran out of money Im still using the stock intank pump even so it made 374.9rwkw with out knocking, but its way leaner than my tuner likes and he told me not to rev it above 4000rpm until its got a surge tank and new pump has anyone had trouble with the gate not flowing enough and how did you overcome the problem also what does everyone think of my time
  7. Hi all, my 03 XR6T is having some issues, had problems with overboost, mainly in the cold. Ive had dtc P1131, P1132 and P1227 and replaced the O2 sensor twice. Codes, and boost of up to 8psi, were detected on Torque app which is now also showing "open loop system fail" and car is intermittently idling really rough. Im assuming, even if the O2 sensor is gone again, the problem is elsewhere. Any help greatly appreciated. I'd like to fix it myself as I don't know of any good tuners around here.
  8. Afternoon, I plan to remove the cat converter. I understand that doing so, will create overboost from the turbo. I am getting it tuned etc, but where the muffler shop is and the tuner is 150km apart. The tuner shop charges 400% more than my local guy and towing it to the tuner isn't worth it (the costs are pretty much equal). So question is, if I drive under 2000rpm, stay off boost as much as I can and drive really carefully, can I make it to the destination without turbo damage? Any ideas would be a help.
