  1. First time building a barra and I've found a hole in the front of the head. What raised concern was the obvious signs of tool marks (most likely from a dremel). This suggests it was made after casting. My questions are: is this how they come from the factory?; is this a mod done to BF and later models? (I was advised the engine came from a BF) Photos of hole attached along with the only photo I could find on the web with a similar hole.
  2. hi guys, I'm aiming for 350ish rwkw, I dont want to have to start spending cash on zf because it looks to me like a never ending money pit, and for me I think 350rwkw will be heaps of grunt given the torque these motors have. Anyway with a gt3582 .70 comp housing, external gate, pw st2 cooler, exhaust, intake, fuel system, v springs, atomic oil pump and 18 or so psi boost. Will my motor need head studs? Can head be taken off block with engine still in car? Thanks guys.
  3. Hi fellow members, I am in a spot of bother. I have just bought a second hand bf turbo ute and I have driven it 300kms and now it is blowing smoke out the exhaust and has a misfire on 6. local mechanic looked at it and is nearly certain it's a hole in the piston. whats the best option for me to do? Should I pull the head off and confirm it is and the. Look for a short motor to re-build it with or look for a exchange motor. any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers alex.
  4. Hey guy, I've been putting this off for a while now but it's time to fix my to fix all my leaks. My engine had a mishap when the PCV one way valve started to fail and pressurize the crank case. Since fixing the PCV, I've have acumulated a few annoying leaks and my head gasket has started to leak coolant The list: *head gasket *rocker cover *timing cover *sump *rear main *engine mounts *valve springs
  5. Hey guys, My engine has started leaking coolant externally out of the head gasket on the exhaust side. I'm thinking it's a good idea to fix this before it get too much worse. My question is: After removing the gearbox, fans and radiator etc, can the engine be lifted straight out the top or are there clearance issues requiring a balance bar etc? Thanks
  6. hey guys... I have a BA xr6t currently running stock turbo on a built engine at 20psi. I need to replace the head gasket sooner rather than later as im currently running a copper 1 and it seems that unless you work for NASA theyre pretty hard to get spot on?? suggestions on a good gasket to use? cheers JET40T
  7. Hello, In the next couple weekends ill be fitting some Genuine XR8 valve springs to my T. Just curious if its really really necasarry to adjust shim height etc. alot of people have gotten away without changing seating heights. and also alot of people say the heights need to be checked! Im also still on the hunt for a member to loan me there atomic tool, Ill gladly pay you. Thanks in advance guys, Dave
