  1. Hey guys hoping someone on here can help, my car is a 2005 BAMK2 XR6 Turbo Manual. long story short I took my car to a tuner, got the car back with a very dim/faint battery light on. initially we thought the alternator was on the way out so I replaced it, made no difference. then realised the battery was going flat over night. went on a rampage changing the alternator, battery, and starter motor. none of these fixed the issue. more and more weird stuff happens with the car, for example when I turn the car off the instrument cluster flickers like a Christmas tree then turns completely off. then if I put the handbrake down whilst the cars off, the traction control light turns on very very dim. not sure if its related but a few years ago my surge tanks fuse melted, same thing happened the other week hence why I've decided to finally address this annoying issue. I also noticed on the odd rare occasion after parking the car at night I've seen the front headlights indicators on very very faintly barley noticeable as if they were getting a small current. also when I connect my battery my interior dome light flashes for a second (I installed an LED interior dome light by the way). also usually when listening to music, the right side speakers stop working leading me in having to turn the volume up really loud for them to kick back in and start working. I don't drive the car much at all hence why I've had the issue for ages, I've temporarily overcome it by disconnecting the battery every time I park it up. there is a lot of weird things going on that I may have forgotten to mention which I will add to this thread as I remember... MAINLY, cars got a drain and faint/dim battery light on and is doing weird electrical things Thankyou in advance
  2. Hi guys, I've just bought online a Process West 4" intake for my G6ET that I picked up a month or so ago. Now I know I need a battery relocation kit as well to go with it, I was looking into the HDI Battery Relocation Kit https://www.hybrid-power.com/product-page/hdi-fg-xr6-battery-relocation-kit, but can't find any thing on the forums/google. I'm just wondering if any holes need to be drilled etc and how easy the install is. It says on HDI website 20-30 minutes but not sure if I trust that. Cheers in advance for the reply. Zac
  3. Hi all, I really need some assistance please (FYI I am not a mechanical car person at all).  Having some kind of power/electrical/battery/fuse/connection issue with my 08 FG xr6 turbo.  Let me run you through what has happened. Sunday morning I go to start the car and click, click, click with ‘Vehicle immobilised’ on the screen. Yes I know this generally means dead battery and to get a new one.  So I do and still does the same thing. Try a heap of different things throughout Sunday. (Disconnect battery for different periods, lock and unlock car etc etc) but to no avail (randomly gt different codes (vehicle immobilised, comms error, transmission not in park and it’s a manual).  Late Sunday afternoon when trying again accessories come on (as they had previously) but when turning ignition it just dies completely.  Then disconnect for a while, try again and dies completely again. Later I try charging the battery in case the new one was a dud, but it makes no difference. Then I tried charging the battery over Sunday night.  Monday morning before work try again, get accessories (as previously had) and get the ‘transmission not in park’ message.  Try ignition and dies completely again. Then I get home from work and try again and get basically no power at all. No accessories, keys don’t open or lock car, no inside lights when opening the door. Only faint sign of power is the boost gauge vaguely flickering in the on position and the air bag light being on when off. A mate came round and measured the battery and it is putting out the 13 volts so I don’t think it is the battery itself (plus it is new).  At some point sufficient power is not getting to the car. If anyone has any idea your feedback would be great? Really frustrating!
  4. I recently pulled my battery out of my car after having it disconnected for ~12 months (slow self-discharge). I made the reasonably smart move of disconnecting the battery from the car electrics itself 12 months ago, otherwise I wouldn't be telling this story, most likely! So I put the battery on my battery charger that only starts on 5V minimum, wouldn't even begin charging... Pulled out the multimeter and checked and it was on a whopping 3.09 Volts... trouble... Bought another battery recovery device that starts at 0.5V and kicked off the charging process with a largely pessimistic outlook. After about 45 minutes it had got the voltage up to about 5.3V but it had stopped there stating the battery had a fault and would not take charge... thought bugger it I'll chuck on the original charger and it started and ran for about 12 hours and got it up to about 11.1 volts and had given up... still not looking good. Connected the new battery recovery charger again and it "tested OK" this time, wow! surprised... beginning to get optimistic here... kept it on charge for almost 4 full days and it sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowly recovered voltage. This battery is a SMF/AGM type so it has calcium added to prevent bubbling so it doesn't need replenishing of water reservoirs... in the end it got up to 14.03 volts (while charging). Still could be bad... so the advice online tended to say to leave it for 12-24 hours after you finish charging it and if it still reads above 12.7 volts you've probably got a healthy battery So I left it and it settled down on 12.83 volts I was happy, to say the least Question for you guys... what's the lowest voltage you've ever recovered a battery from?
  5. Hi guys, just registered to check if anyone has some experiences with EveryBattery (everybattery.com.au) guys. Got this interesting promo offer and was hoping to get it but wanted to hear another opinion. Also, could someone recommend me some other vendor? Thanks!
  6. Hello everybody, sorry this is so long! So I havnt had my xr6 turbo for long now, so I thought it would be a good idea to finish my ride. I know already that my 06 BF MKII XR6 turbo had a nizpro intercooler kit installed, along with a 4" downpipe, and twin 2.5" hotdog exhaust system, and bigger injectors, and a bullet (sniper) tune by BPT performance. that's great, but I wanted more, so ive then installed a walbro 300 lt ph (800hp rated) & fuel filter, as well as 3" cold side, and 2.5" hot side piping for the nizpro intercooler. (This together removed the cross-over), and fitted a 4" induction kit and air box (plazmaman) which goes in place of the original battery. (still waiting for second tune) Now I gave you all that detail for a reason, the problem is starting the car, dont get me wrong it starts everytime..... but at a cost. I have to wait for the fuel pump to stop whining & make sure my stereo Amplifier isnt on at the same time (running twin subs)..... otherwise nothing!! I personally installed the battery in the boot with 0 guage cable, and a 250 Amp fuse inbetween to protect myself. I also earthed the battery at two different places in the boot (its properly installed, even with gold plated contacts) I should also note that I bought a new (sealed) battery at this time as the other battery had dead cells (shat itself), I drove the car home without the battery functioning that time, so the alternator must be working fine, correct? ....... I was stuck I had to do it! I am completely lost what the problem is, I should be able to just get in my car and start it, but I have to leave the ignition on for a few seconds before turning it over. I know it isnt the startor motor because I have just replaced it (same size as original battery) !! Should I buy a second battery and have two, one for the engine and the other for audio? Will this fix the problem? You should also know that if I do turn the key without waiting, all I hear is a clicking noise? This has only happend since ive had the fuel pump and amplifier installed, and the battery moved (all installed personally). If anybody has any idea at all, any pointers or facts that could help, PLEASE let me know I will greatly appreciate it, Luke
