  1. Evening all. I just have a quick question regarding a BA xr6 NA+T on whether I should put 6.5litres (NA) amount or 7 litres (turbo)? Every time I go to change the oil I always forget what I should put in. (Every time……..) also on a side note, when I got home today, I accidentally stalled the car 🤦‍♂️ because the clutch is on its way out and with the key still in the ‘on’ position but the engine off after stalling, there was a chiming sound and the oil light flashed after about 3 seconds. Anything to be concerned about? definitely has good, clean oil in it.
  2. Hey guys, I recently bought my first BF mk2 XR6t and I'm having issues with the manul transmission not going into gear easily at cold start. I'm just wondering what gearbox oil do you guys recommend using. I've done some research and found the Penrite 70w-75 seems to be a popular one instore but also noticed that Ford recommends Dexron iii. I'm kind of confused as the Dexron iii seems to be for automatic transmissions, am I missing something or is the oil compatible with both manual and auto? Cheers for the help.
  3. How do you remove/get to the turbo oil feed on the side of the block on a BA Typhoon with the fpv engine oil cooler in the way? Mine has blocked and blown the turbo I have fitted a new turbo but can't seem to get to the oil feed to replace the stock oil line with the new oil line?!
  4. has anyone used Nulon Racing oil before? if so can you drop a review it would be much appreciated. so the car has been run in and now using fully syn 0-40 castrol edge , I have used nulon racing oil 5-50 but was not to sure on it because I was unable to find any reviews . it seem to be really good and looks like a really high quality Australian product but that's just what nulon reps have said and what I read on there site . to be honest I just want to use the best quality oil , plus money isn't really a worry if its worth it , I have go the following mods to then engine. 455rwkw - 98ron 550rwkw - E85 Stage 3 process west cool and bolt on kit GTX3582r Gen 2 Fuel pump x 2 Manley motorsport 2618 forged pistons with rings Manley HP conrods ARP 9/16 head studs ACL main bearings ACL big end bearings Top and bottom gasket kit Machine engine block Acid bath block Recondition cylinder head (new exhaust valves) Crow race valve springs New billet oil pump gears Power bond race balancer New water pump and pulley New timing chain set including guides
  5. G'day guys, Im relatively new to this forum to which I have also just purchased a FG Mk1 XR6T Ute. I'm wanting to learn how to mod my car and do different things, and work out what aftermarket parts my ute has (which I will ask in the appropriate sections). What I wanted to ask was, has anyone come up with some creative locations in putting different gauges within a ute or sedan (preferably a FG). If anyone has any pics and would like to post them in this thread, that would be greatly appreciated. The only reason I am wanting to put gauges in is the fact the last person who owned the ute has done some mods, and the mods are having an effect with the boost allowing it to spike quiet often. Cheers, Ethan
  6. Hi there peeps, Just picked up me first turbo car about a month back, an F6. So thought I'd clean out the throttle body today and I noticed some oil residue/ deposits in the intake runner and was wondering is the amount normal? She's done 42000kms if that helps. Thanks
  7. Hey guys, After 3 years of waiting to get off my P's I got a 2012 fg xr6t auto 59,000kms Kinetic blue. What the best thing is, I now have two fgs, both the same year, same month build, same day, and they were both sent out on the same day!!! Same colour, but ones auto turbo ones manual na Anyways, I'd like to thank the people here for the info over the years for helping me find all the things I need for my NA haha Now, with the new car, it has a 3 year warranty, $5000 cover on anything that goes. In my mind I want to stop anything from happening, and the first thing that comes to mine is oil and transmission... Whats the best oil line to turbo feed to get? I heard earls is good, but what about intune? Also a oil cooler, I've seen some f6's running around with them on the front but I don't know the power they are making, remember my car is stock power, but I just want to keep it live for aslong as possible and have less trouble with it till I can get a engine/trans/turbo rebuild/forged etc. Bigger radiator, PWR are selling a 24mm alum radiator for around $700 Also a transmission cooler? is it better to go to ford and get one? or aftermarket? I have no idea on these, since I've driven manual all this time and not had one problem with it. thanks in advance guys!!! thanks again for all the help these last 3 years.
  8. Hi I had my car up on the hoist today having a bit of an inspection and noticed oil leaking from in-between the block and the head (see attached photo) just wondering should this be a concern as car only has 23,000km and is a 2012 model also would it be warrantable through ford
  9. Hi all, Just thought I’d post a bit of a photo journal of my recent Engine & Diff flush and re oil using Mainlube products. See below what I used:- 2 x GTX Mineral oil or any crap mineral oil you can get cheap. Just recently Repco ran the 4ltr varieties out the door for $5 this is all you need. Must be a mineral oil though.Cheapest Gear oil you can find, I just used the Penrite stuff ($20) but I’m sure there is cheaper stuff out there.Mainlube Engine Flush AdditiveMainlube Gear Oil 75w140 appearance is as red as red can be.Mainlube 10w60 appearance Avocado/Olive.FilterMag RA300Filtermag TM360 transmission Pan App First Get the car in the hoist and drain both the Engine and Diff oil. Then we re filled with the Mineral Engine oil and the Diff oil and the instructed amount of flush for both Engine and Diff. 11/1 is the ratio. Now its time to let the car run and ilde for approximatley 20 mins with say every 5 mins jumping in the car and bringing the revs up to 2200 for say 30 secs. We decided to kill two birds with the one stone by jacking up the back, chocking the fronts and slipping it into drive. This way we cover both the engine and the diff flush at the same time. Possibly I little bit dodge but no damage done. We then simply dropped both the Engine and Diff oil and re filled using the Mainlube Oils. 10w60 Mainlube Engine Oil with secret herbs and spices! Mainlube 75w140 Gear Oil that is the redest liquid I think I've ever seen! Now the simple intsall of the Pan Magnets. *****Warning if you have never played around with strong earth magnets before be very very careful, I literally almost broke my finger off holding them and moving to close to a tool box***** Scared the Barjesus out of me. Then fit the Oil filter Magnet. (for illustartion purposes only, forgot to take pic of my one)! And all done! Ready to go racing. I'd like to say a special thanks to CMS for the use of his shop, hoist, staffer and Kingston bikkies! http://www.cmssydney.com.au/ Also a special shout out to Aaron and Peter from Mainlube. http://www.mainlube.com/cms/ Links below to the mainlube Oil bulletins used in this service:- Gear Oil - http://mainlube.com/cms/uploads/File/154%20SB.Synthetic%20Solid%20Boundary%20E%20P%20Gear%20Oil(wos)%20pdf.pdf Enigine Oil - http://mainlube.com/cms/uploads/File/175%20Synthetic%20Racing%20Engine%20Oil%20(wos).pdf

    Turbo Leaking Oil

Hey Guys, First post, pity it has to be about a problem with my XR6T. Just purchased a 2010 XR6T with 47000km on the clock. Bought off a guy in Melb who had purchased the car brand new. Car was picked for split diff bushes at RWC which I was assured (by both the seller and Ford) was a common problem. Car was still under warranty and as such was returned to Knox Ford in Rowville to have the parts replaced and was thoroughly checked. Seller provided invoice from Knox which made comment about an oil leak around turbo - "Check for Oil Leak around turbo - Oil leaking out of turbo intake tube, oil in tube is from normal blow-by coming through inlet tube from PVC pipe. No fault with vehicle, removed and cleaned intake tubes and refitted making sure hose clamps tightened correctly". As part of the check the timing case oil leak was also detected and shorter bolts installed and idler pulley assembly was replaced. This check was completed on 02/11/12 and I collected the vehicle on 09/11. Today I took the car to my local Ford dealer for 45k service and when I went to collect the car I have been told by the service advisor that the Turbo needs to be replaced???? On top of this even though the car is still under warranty they have advised that it may not be covered under warranty because the "turbo has been tampered with" and it doesn't have the standard air filter installed. This will result in me being out of pocket $8k for a new turbo :o There was also a comment made in relation to blow back into the engine and hoping that this hadn't caused any damage??? I have spoken with the seller (who didn't have to talk to me given it was a private sale) who has advised that he has not modified the turbo in anyway and I have opened the air box and the air filter is just a K&N aftermarket part which (in my far from experienced opinion) is a ridiculous reason to knock back a warranty claim? I have no doubt that the guy I bought the car from gave the car a squirt (who buys an XR6T and doesn't) but I highly doubt he sat there in a $50k car with his foot on the brake bouncing off the rev limiter doing a 200m skid! How easy is it to blow up a Turbo in one of these? From reading other forums I can see a number of people have had the oil leak issue from the pipe at the top of the turbo. After driving around in my trusty (and yes I know a little boring) BA MkII XR6 this is turning into a nightmare after only 5 days!!! I have attached photos of the Turbo this afternoon after collecting from Ford and you can see the oil as well as a comparison between the filter in my BA (white - which has a full service history with Ford) and the one in the Turbo. Appreciate any experiences and thoughts on the Dealers Comments! Cheers, Pip

  13. hi guys, just bought a 11/09 fg xr6 turbo ute last month. was verry happy with it untill I sent it up on the hoist at work only to find the turbo was leaking oil in a big way. so sent it back to titan ford under warenty, got it back the next day and the service advisor told me it was leaking through the induction pipe, yes I know its normal for a bit of oil to pass through from the engine breather but this is a huge leak. anyway after 5 mins of argueing someone told me that they tightened up the oil feed line, so I dont know what to belive. I did 100kms in it and then put it up on the hoist again only to find it leaking just as bad, but that's not all, it is now leaking coolant from the turbo aswell!!! so back to ford I went, went and picked it up the next day. they told me that they pressure tested the cooing system overnight and couldnt fault it, and regaurding the oil leak they put a new hose clamp on the induction piping (probably because they reefed the old one so hard and broke it) so back to square one :( I have a friend at a different ford dealership who is a service advisor, and their boss is away atm and he is doing all bookings/warenty stuff and said he will just book in for a brand new turbo under warenty. im not to sure on this as I dont know if it is the turbo at fault or not and dont want them to get in the sh*ts for doing it. do you guys know what normaly leaks on them? it looks to me like its the feed line that is leaking but aparently they have tightend it, so dont know if it needs a new washer or if something is warped or what? would you gofor the new turbo or just keep sending it back or what?? thanks in advance Andy
