  1. First time building a barra and I've found a hole in the front of the head. What raised concern was the obvious signs of tool marks (most likely from a dremel). This suggests it was made after casting. My questions are: is this how they come from the factory?; is this a mod done to BF and later models? (I was advised the engine came from a BF) Photos of hole attached along with the only photo I could find on the web with a similar hole.
  2. Hey guys, I am looking to purchase a FG-X XR6T and want to spend a few thousand (including labour) on increasing power. Is this achievable? Will I need to travel to Sydney/Brisbane to reliably get mods installed and a decent tune? (Located Mid-North NSW). Or just stay local? $3-4000 would probably be my limit on spending. I want the car to be reliable and be fine dealing with my lead foot on a daily basis for years. 350kw is just a ballpark figure I would probably be happy with. I dont want to go crazy, I just want to get the most bang for buck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, the more info the better.
  3. Hi guys, just done my first mod on my 2011 XR6 fg.I ( car was fully stock)... fitted a $650 combo pack from ss inductions including cold air intake and growler. Wondering what other affordable mods I can do apart from fitting a catback exhaust. Looking to increase sound, power, torque ect ( all that good stuff ) Just wanting some feedback on what the next mods I should do. Thanks everyone !
  4. Hi guys, this is the first time I've started a topic on this forum so forgive me if my forum etiquette is out of whack! I am in need of some information and recommendations with regards to a flapper mod on my BA MK2 XR6 Turbo. I've been quoted $1,000 to have the flapper mod done by Xtreme Ford Tuning in Perth. I've had all my work done by these guys and although quite pricey, I'm very happy with the results. (currently running a little under 320rwkw with 4" dump and 3.5" single, ID1000 injectors, fuel pump, 12lb actuator, bolt on cooler, growler, valve springs, and a few other little bits and pieces). I need the flapper done because with the current tune from last week (tune needed after putting on new exhaust) the car is over boosting. I have read around and some people have suggested that to save money, it is easier to put on an external gate instead on the flapper mod. This I'm not too keen on as I'm planning on buying an under battery cooler kit later on down the track and would require unnecessary mucking around. Doing the mod myself is also out of the question as my mechanical ability does not extend this far. Basically what im wanting to know is, is this worth $1000? Will I need a retune after doing the mod? Is an external gate a viable option? Should I be expecting any power gain from this? Any help or opinions gratefully taken on board. Matt
  5. Hey guys, Just wanted to get some advice. Just recently my car has started breathing heavier then usual. My Mods are; Billet to4z turbo with std rear housing and .85 front 650cc Injectors Plazmaman intercooler w/ throttle body relocation kit (3" cold side 2.5" hot side) Surge tank with external 044 fuel pump External wastegate w/ screamer pipe 4" dump with 3.5" exhaust and high flow cat Cushion button clutch and t56 gearbox Atomic Valve Springs Basic oil catchcan for the rear breather Car is making a safe and reliable 335kw atw. Now tuner has said I can go more but I dont want to break the engine ( its not a BA engine, its a NA one I believe but not risking anything until I know for sure what the hell is in the bottom end) All I know is ive had this thing on the limiter and stretched the redline point to 6500 and still goes hard everyday without missing a beat. Its always had a breathing issue and little amount of oil coming out. When I idled it the other day it was still running fine no issues but breathing 2x heavier then usual but same amount of oil maybe a smidge more. Can anyone shed some light on this please? or let me know exactly whats going whether my oil rings are on the way out of if they know of people with the same issue and no dramas? would just prefer some more detail info? I had a seperate tuner look at it when it was making 285rwkw and he just said engine is gone its going to blow dont bother wasting your time etc, but im now at 335rwkw and no dramas..... yet (touchwood). thanks
