  1. Yes, I figured $690 was a bit over the top. Anyone know where I can get he job done for a reasonable price in sydney?
  2. ebay! $1500 I picked them up for with tyres.
  3. I thought I would let you know since researching the topic, about importing your own tyres from tirerack. I was looking at semi slicks in 245 35 19 and 275 30 19, there is not many options available in that size. You can get Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 for US$1132 plus US$200 Fedex 3-5 day delivery. With the exchange rate being about 90 cents, that is a fairly good price for semi slicks delivered to your door. I had bought tyres while contacting them on email....wish I had have waited now. They are supposed to be a good tyre and are not available in Australia yet. They have a high enough load rating for our cars so are completely legal.....just not warranted by Bridgestone here.
  4. Since most people have had this done, I would like to know how much is a decent price for labour to replace valve springs? I am in Sydney, I have been quoted $690 so far (labour only). I realise it is a big job and understand the cost. Which workshop will do it for less than this?
  5. Yes, 3 piece wheels. Front are 8 inch, rears are 9.5 inch. I had to grind the end of the axle off to get the centre caps on the rear! Also had to roll the guard lips, pump them out a bit as well and grind a bit off the inner guard where the lip ended near where it meets the bumper. But got 'em on in the end and I think it was a good choice! Wouldn't mind having a gold centre though.
  6. Thought I would post some pics of my new wheels and lowered suspension. The Falken FK452 tyres I have on it now are far better than the Kumho KU31 that they replaced. It will almost hold all power through second gear, very small amount of slip now. The Kumhos would rarely hook up in second. Also a lot more grip in the wet with the Falkens. $250 for 245 35 19 and $320 for 275 30 19 from AAA Tyres in Guildford. Also the Lovells shocks and springs are a huge improvement over the stock suspension. Not too firm to knock out your fillings. The rear end is much better now, a lot firmer than stock.
  7. I can't see how a bit of white paint would make it illegal, you have not changed the structure of the tyre. I might have to give it a shot! Haven't seen white writing on tyres for a very long time on a road car.
  8. I reckon white writing on the tyres would look heaps better than an entire white wall.
  9. Perhaps common sense should prevail here. Possibly? Missed call means you were not on the phone, correct? You were not using the phone, you did not ask for the call while you were driving and you chose to ignore it. Hence you did not use your phone. Looking at it is not using it. The Vicroads rule states using the phone's functions, is looking at it using a function, I think not. Get a stat dec from a JP saying they saw the missed call in your records. Take it to court, represent yourself, get off scott free as you should. Magistrates aren't stupid. Common sense should prevail. Don't just pay it and lose 3 points for someone elses incompetence.
  10. It looks crap and you will wear them out faster than your 19s....and probably hit a tree in doing so. It would probably make more sense to learn how to use the throttle, or maybe get some decent 19 inch tyres. Mine makes about 315rwkw and I only slip in first and a little in second if I hold it flat. Kumho Ecsta SPT tyres...only cost about $250 a corner from memory and have lasted me a year and a half now.
  11. I've been looking for a fibreglass box like a few of you guys have for a sub to sit in the left rear of the boot behind the wheel well. See the one pictured. Is there somewhere I can buy one pre made?
  12. New tuner. Your exhaust is holding you back if it is still stock, every tuner should know that.
  13. Have seen these on a red GT with white stripes. Looked awesome. The white stripes are complimented by the white wheels.
  14. Just found on ebay Nolathane coilover shockers fromnt and rear for BA for approx $1700....seems quite cheap. Has anyone used these? Haven't really looked into them, just though I would let everyone know.
  15. Just watch out if you want the Axis Hiro from Tempe....if they don't have them in stock, you might wait a long time to get them. A lot of posts on here from people who have had that problem. Shop it around if they don't have them in stock.
  16. 3 piece ROH......very few cras out there have them. Aussie made as well. PS. If cost is not an issue, why are you going to Tempe Tyres...

    Dell

I work in IT and have worked with both HP and Dell in the past....Dell, get ready to call support, odds are something will break. I had them try to fix my laptop 4 times. They fixed the original problem then introduced another problem because they use second hand parts for warranty. Dell simply copy other brands, why do you thin kt hey are so cheap. If it's going to get a decent amount of use, get a name brand, not a clone.
  18. One other point, the BMW petrol engine uses parallel trubos, the diesel engine uses sequential...and comes on peak torque later than the petrol. GTR is 2.6 litre...it would need 2 tiny turbos to come on as early as a 4 litre. The BMW is a 3 litre engine though comes on much earlier than a 4 litre...all depends on turbo size.
  19. BMW stats: 400 Nm of torque between 1,300 rpm and 5,000 rpm. Note that the red line is 7100 rpm, higher than our cars. To have a twin turbo for the purposes of driveability, rather than outright power and an irrelevant to some time down the quarter mile, would be the reasons someone might go ahead and do it. If only I had the disposable income to throw at it :(
  20. Not everyone wants to drag race, that's the point. BMW do it for driveability. THe GTR is a track car, drag racers change to a single big turbo to make numbers.
  21. Nissan comtinued on with the twin turbo inline 6 until it went V6...where it continues to use twins. BMW's brand new 3 series comes with a twin tubo inline 6...gotta say there must be some merit to someone trying it with small turbos...Would be interesting to see how early you could get it on full boost. I wouldn't mind mine coming on song at 2000rpm instead of 3000.
  22. This made me laugh because it was your stereotypical 19 or 20 year old. It just so happened they were all in Holdens. The thread title was just oppurtunistic. Some might say it is someone's misfortune, a 5 car accident happens because someone was being stupid...not all, some would have been innocent bystanders, but how do you get 5 nose to tail without doing something stupid. Even tailgating is absolutely stupid. As far as I am concerned, stupidity deserves a consequence, in this case their pride and joy. As for paying out on Holden's and ripping into the thread because of that, it could have been a group of Fords and I would still have thought the same thing. Nothing wrong with paying out on stupidity, to say it's just stupid to bag someone's misfortune.....maybe this stupidity has helped a young guy not become another statistic.
  23. Was on my down centennial drive on Saturday, traffic started to pile up just past the shell servos over the bridge. Great, I though, more of my like wasted sitting in Sydney traffic! Anyway, in about 1k from there, I see the cause of the hold up...about 8 Holdens off to the side of the road blocking the left lane. From behind I'm approaching, I see a few VY SS', a VN and other late model Holdens, all with mags, all lowered, you know the usual young bloke kind of car....most with JetPilot stickers across the back windows. Then I see why they're stopped! The last car was pushed firmly up into the VNs rear...looked about 50cm shorter! Then in front of that, 3 more of the Holdens were nose to tail getting a little too intimate with each other! On the side of the road was the hooded, straight capped, pants around the knees teens all wondering how this all happened. I couldn't help but laugh, then laugh some more, then laugh some more as I write this. It really made the wait in the traffic all worth while
  24. Just noticed today that the knock off Typhoon dark agent rims are available in 20 inches.....Has anyone fitted these to their car? Got pics? These wheel makers should start doing a staggered set for Falcons. Not hard given they just copy the style, they still have to cast them themselves. Dark agents with a wide concaved rear wheel would be hard to beat in looks.
  25. Not sure what you are after mate? Springs and shocks just for the front? No they are not coilovers. Please PM, it's easier.
