Was just reading up on it, cams get you bugger all apparently, you might be better off dropping them and going for diff gears.
-
You might be better off on Australian Ford Forums with an NA. They deal with all sorts of Fords and all types of engines. We are a little imbred ....though you can get plenty of good info on other aspects other than NA mods here. PS, if you are after a bodykit from fibre sports...their retail pricing has a lot of room to negotiate. I got mine complete with grill for a lot less through the panel shop. PS for engine mods you would want full exhaust, underdrives, cams and a tune. Though you'll have to ask someone who knows which brands to get.
-
Oh. Then I don't know what you will get for doing what. I assumed it was a turbo on this site. Get a turbo Just kidding.
-
Fibre sports in Sydney. If you have that sort of money, get your cat changed leave the rest of the exhaust, 60lb injectors, and a rapid v3 kit, labour is money, do as much as you can yourself if you can. Though you might have to get some of those bits second hand to stay under $2500. Add $450 for dyno time with whatever you do to the car. You will easily make minimum 310rwkw, that will get you a 12 second car easy. Later on change the rest of the exhaust, fuel pump, turbo actuator and you should make 360rwkw. You may also need valve springs changed at that level.
-
The question is what is your budget, then work out the best way to spend that cash? 6 speed auto or manual?
-
I have the fibre sports 2 leg extension. Looks good. I had mine painted in the grey used on the FPV cars. 3 piece meant I had to drill holes into the wing and the car boot. Didn't want to do that.

The media stories mean nothing. It's all hype to make a headline. Time will tell what happens. If they drop the Falcon and Expensive Daewoo stay the same, they will lose the ute market, probably Police other than the 4WD turbo versions (seen a cop in a Camry lately?), possibly the taxi market too. Add to that every one of us who wants to do burnouts in a RWD. I can't see them doing this. It is simple, if they want a "World" car, then they have to compete in the world market. BMW and Merc are still 4 door rear drive and will stay that way, Ford will need a large 4 door RWD to compete if they want to get into Europe in the large car sector.

Was checking out the pic of the turbos close up and the outlet pipes, looks like the boosted air is going to collide in that pipe because they are flowing towards eachother. Maybe I'm wrong but a Y shape might work better than a T shape?

Oils aint oils or something like that. What sort of OCntinental and what sort of P-Zero? There are heaps of different types, someone here might have had experience with both if you are a little more specific.

Would be good to see an Xr6 Turbo out there carving up some laps with the V8s if they changed the rules to not be so incestuous.

They are Lovells branded, though I am not sure if they manufacture them. YOu got 4 shocks and 4 springs. Prices you need to get onto a Lovells stockist. AutoOne in Niddrie Victoria is where I got mine. THey distribute them.

Unfortunately there are not 80000 seats of the type you talk about, or 80000 people whom wish to pay the premium to see 200m of track and watch the rest on TV. Homebush was a huge mistake, it is a garbage track and not one for spectators to come and watch the race. I am a motorsport fan as well, but I'll be biggered if next year I'm paying to see 200m of track unless there's a decent band to watch as well. I used to watch Bathurst all day, nowadays I watch probably an hour of it because it is boring in my opinion.

Its a weird thing that the abos (whom really own this land) are left to rot in NT deserts and other hell holes, yet the immigrants that come here get everything on a silver platter. I reckon the abos would be better off filling a boat with VB, sailing to Indonesia and coming back so they could get treated like "refugees".
-
I think that next year the numbers will be down to Homebush. Boring track and nowhere to watch it from, no one had any idea what was happening in the race. You were lucky to see each car for more than 3 seconds a lap. THe big draw card for that event was it was brand new, hugely advertised and Chisel played as part of the ticket price.
-
Its about time! THe series is so boring now. It has absolutley no relevenace to the Ford or Expensive Daewoo you can buy off the shelf. Its a new body shell with a 1970s driveline, a good one at that but nothing exciting. Imagine the rear end driveline the Falcon could have had if it were used in the Supercar series instead of a 9 inch from the dinosaur ages. It is for this reason that the sport has no context to Australians anymore. Bring on the Germans to make the sport pick up it's act so we can all benefit from the R&D that would be pumped into some of the factory components. Anyone for a V8 supercar rear end?

I have the package. It is as low as SSL rear and SL front. I have had mine on for about 8 months and no problems, the 3 year warranty will cover any issues anyway. They are firm without being too firm, they really help to get the power down. At Eastern Creek I can give the car full throttle coming out of a lot of corners with no loss of traction and 327rwkw. For the price it is a good option, though I cant compare it to anything else out there....

Its a nice read and a valid point but worth nothing in Australia. There are too many whinging Mums and Dads out there who say they cant afford to have professional training for their kids driving. Lots of Mums and Dads vote, therefore nothing will be changed. What the RTA/NSW Labor suck holes did, was made minimum hours of L plate driving, putting the responsibility back on the parents to properly train them by saying 100 hours and all will be sweet. Now, where did 100 hours come from? There are plenty of asians out there on full licenses that still stop in the merging lane to the freeway because they have no ability to drive a car amongst other cars. I am sure they have had well over 100 hours of driving time. Not just picking on asians.....but we all know A LOT OF THEM cant drive. Sorry if that offends anyone. Without driver skill as a foundation to higher speed limits, there will never be higher speed limits let alone the roads to handle Autobahn style speed......though having said that....it would not be hard to increase the speed limit from Sydney to Melbourne to 130-150. Dual carriageway all the way now I think. If you can get those stupid people whom seem to only be able to drive in a right hand lane to move their stupid arses out of the way. Yet I have to sit on 110 the entire way then when you get to Melbourne be greeted by 7 speed cameras all within the last 45 minutes of the drive. Thanks Victoria, your contribution to road safety is magnificent.

I can't understand how people eat their steaks cooked blue. I witnessed my boss eat a 2kg t-bone steak cooked blue at Nolbertos in SA. The plate was covered in blood! At that restaurant you can order any size steak you like, they cut it in the kitchen.

I would like one for the sound of the 8 and the blower, economy would be terrible compared to the turbo though since its always on boost. THey should have gone twin turbos, now that I would have in an instant!
-
From what I have seen in tests done on motoring shows they do nothing and can in fact lower the octane rating. Although not all brands were tested so cant comment on all of them.
-
That certainly sounds like a salesman arguement. If it were me, I would have thought it was just a rhetorical question and responded with, "Who gives a F*ck?" Aurion = Grandpa. XR6T = Wankers like me.
-
I stand corrected. Though your observation on behaviour in your last post was the same place my comment came from.

Family of 6 children and the parents went overseas over summer leaving the kids at home unsupervised? Sounds like this kids stupidity was maybe a product of the parents lack of discipline....and his mate was one of nine siblings, whom was also apparently a little terd. Makes you wonder why people have 9 kids when they cant look after them. Welfare maybe...but that's just specualtion on my part. Basically given these kids behaviour the parents played a role in their deaths. Either way, no one deserves to die like that at that age.
-
Karma would be the driver dying. Playing chicken on main roads, at least they probably moved out of the way in the end. Near me in a suburb called Punchbowl, the leb kids sit in the middle of the main roads causing the cars to have to swerve around them. I wish they would be run over.

Making The Blow Off Valve Quieter?
xr_velocity replied to xr_velocity's topic in Intercooler Workshop
Received my AVO BOV today. It has a 38mm inlet, 35mm outlet and a atmospheric port on the opposite side. So total outlet size is more like 50mm+ when fully opened. I have to get a 38mm port welded onto the intake and 35mm on the inlet side. This should stop the turbo flutter somewhat but add an atmospheric noise as well at high boost. Time will tell I guess.
