Was after some advice. I hit Eastern Creek a few weeks ago, while I had a great time, my front tyres did not. Massive understeer all day, even before the tyres had got so hot they almost melted. My setup is Lovells shocks and springs SSL all round with a 27mm sway bar on the front. The rear end stuck like glue all day, even under full power out of corners there was zero slide from the back end. My tyres are fairly new Falken FK452 2435 19 and 275 30 19. I never expected them to be a good track tyre, but the understeer was very bad. The car had a Heasmans alignment a while ago, they set it up halfway between street and track. Is there something else I should be doing other than buying slicks? I get the feeling that with the way the car was handling, slicks would just mask the understeer a little. Edit: I am getting front lower and upper control arm bushes and control blade bushes done next week. All up $647 including alignment and fitting new power steering boot as mine is split. $400 labour from Bankstown Pedders, bushes are cost price from my brother. I thought I'd give Pedders a plug as I think that is a very cheap price.

New bolts and hence tightening of turbo to manifold and turbo to dump has increased my fuel economy by 1 litre per 100km. Not a bad deal I think. Was probably due to the dump pipe gasket having a hole blown it and affecting the readings on the oxygen sensor at a guess.

No sausage sizzle at mine, I don't think they printed the Halal signs in time. I used to live in Newtown, you could get bacon and eggs there....Fark all chance of that in Bankstownland. I'll vote for whoever makes it mandatory for KFC to serve bacon as the picture on the menu states.

It would have been a different story if she was an absolute stunner. All the chicks would have voted the other guy, all the guys would have voted for her. You will always get that in life. You have to stop and think though, a lot of people vote on emotion and ideals rather than fact, chicks probably feel that she better represents their view because she has an axe wound like them....go figure. I still can't work out my Mrs, so they're probably right in that world they live in.

I just added a complaint on the ACCC site. The more the merrier. As everyone has already stated. The device was purchased as a match to my BA Falcon. The computer in my car nor the Xcal 1 has changed, they are still able to communicate in 2010 just like they did in 2006 when I bought it for $900. SCT stuffed up allowing 5 cars to be allowed on each box, they did not protect their investment, who owns 5 cars??? That is their silly business decision, but now they are trying to fix their mistake by turning them all off. I would be happy for SCT to compromise on this. I propose that they update the firmware on the Xcal 1 so that it is locked to one car and one car only period, also that the Xcal1 can ever be unlocked for use on another car. That way, if you buy a new car without a box, you need to buy the latest model Xcal, I think this to be fair. This is how they should have marketed the product in the first place to protect their investment. Obviously, if you are allowed 5 cars, people are going to on sell them once their purpose is finished. I would urge others to spend 5 minutes to lodge a complaint, nothing may come of it, but at least you have made an effort and done the best we can to get a fair deal, even if it is a compromised deal at that. At the end of the day, whether what they have done is illegal or not is not for you or I to decide, the ACCC will decide that. But they need to hear some voices to pursue it.

Who is the guy in Brisbane selling them? EDIT Just found it on ebay. Thanks.

Even without a federal decision yet, the swings in NSW and QLD should reflect their ousting of Labor at the next state election.

Dirty oil is better than no oil. Aftermarket filter better again but I saved myself $200 and hope it doesn't bite me in the bum. I had a track day a couple of weeks ago, 56000km car with recent oil change using Nulon. Anyway about a week later I start hearing a whining type noise coming onto boost, so I pull the turbo off and find all bolts are loose and a blown dump pipe gasket. Replace all those and the noise persists. I listen to the turbo spinning down after the engine is shut off, and it seems noisier than usual. There is some oil getting to the turbo but I don't know how much. I take out the turbo oil filter and it is covered in brown oil burnt onto it, wouldn't have been flowing much at all. Reassemble with no filter. Start her up and the noise is still there....damage has been done I thought. So I drive for a little while, the oil heats up and the sound stops. Drive the car another 100km and no nasty sound....will have to wait until tomorrow to see how it is when it's cold again. THe point of the story is my car has only done 56000km. I only just started changing oil every 7500 this service which wouldn't have helped. Seeing the state of mine on a low km car, I would urge everybody to get rid of the filter ASAP. No point putting another one in there, it will block too. Aftermarket or nothing in my opinion. When I get a new turbo, as this one has definitely had it's life significantly shortened, I will get an aftermarket filter. For now, I'll see how it goes like this.

You gonna bitch slap some Labor pamphlet peddlers at the election booths Buf?
-
termando.com It compares online courier quotes and shows you the prices. You can book the job through them as well.
-
Like I said in a previous quote, the closet Laborer's will be out in force on Saturday. This one will come down to the wire. Hopefully after the election, her ears will still have a job as a white board.
-
Hahahaha, you've got to be kidding me right? Look at NSW Labor! They just keep getting voted in by the same people who will vote this Labor government in on Saturday. You don't actually think that people are educated do you?
-
They do them for $150 on ebay. Got some sent to me last week with an invoice from them.

Hi all, I was on the phone to GCG recently about an unrelated matter, but I asked if it is worth just removing the factory oil filter to the turbo. In a word yes I was told. In a longer word I was told that Ford fitted that part because of the very low quality oil they use from factory. With the extreme heat generated by the turbo approx 900 degrees, the crappy Ford oil carbonises and creates chunky pieces. These need to be filtered out, hence the turbo filter. GCG believes you do not need the filter, you can use an earls type filter if you wish and they do sell them, but if you use very good quality oil, you should not have any issues with not running a filter. I haven't taken this as the absolute undisputed fact, but I would think they have some idea of what they are talking about.

I still find it so hard to believe people watch the TV ads and believe every word of it. Take any one sentence out of context and it easily proves any point they want to make....and that is what everyone is being fed and that is what the masses are swallowing. It is much easier to sell a government that is handing out money left right and centre, hence Labor will win. I think the analogy comes down to this, if you were a 6 year old, would you rather be handed a lolly or have to work for it to pay for it yourself? Abbott didn't oppose stimulus, he opposed the amount of stimulus and the direction the funds were going. I mean insulation in roofs that was imported from China for f&^%s sake. How much better could that money have been spent. Abbott wanted to pump money in quickly, but leave enough in reserve as no one knew what was going to happen in the near future. What did everyone do with their $900? Do you understand how much of that money went overseas? To say you have a job thanks to Labor is only a very small part of the picture which they are taking complete credit for. Johnny got us out of Bob/Paul's 13 year reign, 17% interest rates and the recession "We had to have". Labor are here to tax you, understand that. Go and buy a six pack of Jim Beams and a pack of smokes and you're up for over $40. Remember they even put the tax on alcopops before it was passed, the arrogance is astonishing. When it was knocked back they kept the money! This Labor government has time and time again just done things without approval. How many jobs do you think would be out there today if the ETS passed? Do you think you would still be employed? Who are we going to trade carbon with, NZ? Remember the ETS will be passed when Labor gets voted back in. I think there are more questions to be asked than to just say, Labor saved my job by spending amounts of money that have never before been seen in Australia. The good old Labor way. What you should be asking yourself is, how would the Libs have managed the GFC and how much would we be in debt now? How long is it going to take to pay for Labor's spending and how will that affect me in the future. Stop thinking short term, start thinking about your own mortgage, the more you borrow the more you have to pay back. Two ways to do it, cut back or get more money, where do you think Labor is going to get that money from? You and me.
-
I remember being in a Union job, they made you feel like a traitor if you didn't join them. Howard did a great job kicking the union out of the wharfs and bringing in all new workers. Unions have been scared of the Libs ever since and have been donating like crazy to keep themselves rich by keeping Labor in government.

Most articles I have read from anyone in the private sector who analyses the NBN, can see it as the big fat white elephant it is. The company I work for stands to benefit enormously from the project going ahead....but I still don't want it. A lot of people are saying take that $43bn and spend a little on internet and the rest on homeless, hospitals etc, but really, we don't own or earn one cent of that $43bn. It's not a matter of spend it better, it's a matter of do not spend it until you can afford it unless it's a necessity or a very profitable investment.

Talk about welfare, remember Krudd trying to mean test the health care rebate? The whole point of the rebate was to entice people to pay for their own hospital bills by going private. Reducing strain on public health. It worked, I took it up for that very reason, it cost me only a little more money. Remember the baby bonus being mean tested as well...everything was going to be means tested by Labor, meaning those who pay taxes and deserve to get the occasional tax break would lose it...effectively taking on an individual tax hike and simply because they had worked hard for their money...while Shazza Smith and her 5 bastard children were free to live off welfare forever. I like Liberal's theory of enabling the private sector to build Australia, Government can't run business, they have no share holders and are rarely held accountable. You can't sack them whenever you want for stuffing up like a CEO can. If the CEO of BHP, Woolworths, Macquarie Bank etc had run their businesses like the BER or Insulation debacles they would have been shown the door instantly. It's time to sack these clowns all you Labor closet voters! I am also not trying to ridicule Labor voters, I have swung many ways in my life, but you would think enough is enough.
-
Not a fan of Abbott generally, but I do respect him for standing up against Turnbull when he didn't have an assured win if he challenged. That took guts to stand up for what many Australians wanted him to do. On the other hand, Gillard booted out Krudd knowing she would have an easy win, she sailed into the top job too easily. She never fought for it. There are many other reasons I will not vote Labor this election, but there is one thing that really gets my blood boiling that sealed the deal for me. Whenever she was interviewed and asked about massive waste in the BER scheme, she would laugh it off. She would blatantly laugh in the interviewer's face and thus to all Australians who were looking for a credible answer and explanation. She would treat the interviewer, and hence all Australians with such contempt in doing so. She would not even agree to have the particular cases investigated or review the scheme to avoid it in future. She laughed at you and I whilst holding a flame up to handfuls of our cash (make that our borrowed money). I find it very frustrating when people say, can I trust Abbott? What are you basing that fear off? Better the devil you know maybe? I also find the polls very interesting, I read various newspaper editorials, opinion columns and blogs showing a larger percentage of people supporting Liberal, but when the polls are run such as the Neilson, Labor are usually in front. How can that be? I have come to the conclusion that Labor voters have very much retreated to the closet this election because of the Krudd Gillard shambles, yet are still willing to vote for what has proven to be a very incompetent government. Why wouldn't you say enough is enough and vote out this circus. labor have royally shagged NSW and QLD, yet people continued to vote for them....I think far too many Australian's have a sense of entitlement to other tax payer's dollars, Labor hands it out like it's Monolopy money then realises there's none left so they take more from the people and businesses who have worked hard for their money. A perfect example is Land Tax in NSW, no other state has it. It is specifically a tax grab at people who have worked hard and have an investment property.

Good looking wheels!

I had the same problem. I cleaned out my throttle body and it stopped it completely. Go and buy some throttle body cleaner, give it a good clean and hope that fixes your problem. It is the cheapest place to start and is a common problem with these cars. While you're at it do this: http://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=67778&highlight=boost+solenoid+maintenance Throttle body clean will only cost you ten bucks and twenty minutes. Check topics started from other people on here and Fordforums, you'll see it has fixed many cars. I am also changing my coils today as idle is not completely smooth like it was when new...at least it holds a steady 750 rpm now though.

Victorian Hoons Live In St Albans And Drive Commodores
xr_velocity replied to xr_velocity's topic in Off-Topic
You would think Tarneit would be included . I am surprised Melton didn't get a guernsey in the article, I think they are too busy with domestics to do burnouts. -
Second hoon car crushed in Victoria | The Australian Interesting article on hoon convictions in Victoria. St Albans tops the list for suburbs followed by Hoppers and Werribee, while Commodore's were 46% of convicted hoon's sh*tbox of choice. Ford came in at 16%. I think everyone can draw their own conclusions on suburb and car.... So moral of the story is, if you're wanting to sell a Late model camira with mags park it in St Albans or Werribee and hope it's sold before someone steals it.

Contact Mal Wood automotive in QLD. He does plenty of swaps and has the bits you need. The Tremec 6 speed box would be the only way to go...all factory parts to fit and maintain it.
