  1. Told ya. Ford 2010 Falcon XR8 - Ford blows XR8 | GoAuto
  2. Means nothing, as the interceptor is a police spec Taurus.
  3. Not likely, they need to be stripped down to fit the lower comp pistons, and the supercharger inlet assembly needs to be fitted plus whatever bits are needed to fit it to the Falcon, and the extra demand should mean no loss of jobs. According to one of the guys on FF that is, and he knows. Adds credence to when Rod Barrett said they would still keep the assembly line here. Its just that now they won't need all the custom parts the 5.4 requires bar pistons, inlet manifold etc.
  4. It supposedly makes 350+, but what number they choose to advertise who knows, probably 335.The GTH supposedly makes 375 if the rumours on the other forums are true.
  5. GT will be around the same price as now, but as with every new model you should expect a small price rise. Apparently the Coyote motor is cheap to make, and bulk purchases of superchargers will keep the unit costs down. Not having to totally assemble the whole motor with specific parts only common to that motor like they do with the current 5.4 will keep costs down.
  6. Eaton superchargers have an idle air bypass, so they don't boost all the time, so at cruising speeds it will most likely be making no boost. Economy should be better than the 5.4. Dual independent VCT, lower weight, more efficient engine and slightly smaller capacity. Mustang V8 also has electric power steering which reduces consumption, Falcon might have it too.
  7. Turbo cams are the same as NA ones. The develop them for the NA petrol version, the other engines are stuck with whatever they choose for that. They might just alter the VCT advance/retard. I couldn't tell you what they changed, but the cam specs are altered for better economy, emmisions etc, and probably altered on FG to suit the new plastic manifold.
  8. Balil Skaf was also a good boy according to his mother, and all the girls he and his friends gang raped were liars.
  9. Better suspension? Try transverse leaf springs all round. That is not a joke.
  10. It will weigh about the same as the 6, and the weight be be located further back as its only 4 cylinders front to back, not 6 like the I6.
  11. The quality of the current FG is the best in its class, even better than Camry and Aurion. The quality ratings don't lie. The TGW rankings are world class and better than the opposition. The dealer response to warranty problems is a whole different matter though, and that's where the problem lies.
  12. They have changed from BA to BF and then changed again for FG.
  13. Not with Coyote, it fits under FG bonnet without bulge, but it will still be used. Its the front of the I6 engine's rocker cover that requires a tall and long bonnet to clear it. Taurus is also available with AWD, as fitted to the EcoBoost models.
  14. Rods are the same, pistons are slightly higher comp in FG, but FG F6 are lower comp than XR.
  15. Word out of the US is Global RWD is alive and well, with Mustang, Falcon and a new Lincoln off the same platform based on FG. Probably engineered here. Massive oppurtunity for FoA. Secures Falcon future well into next decade. Media are full of sh*t, except Expensive Daewoo lover Paul Gover who actually got it right suprisingly. The only one who read between the lines and not just made up bullsh*t to sell papers. Falcon will finally get the development dollars its always deserved, while all development on GM's Zeta platform has been cancelled and Expensive Daewoo are broke. Can't afford a Late model camira facelift and can't afford to put Cruze into production, have to keep delaying it to try to find the money to do it. Don't let the thruth get in the way of a good story.
  16. Euro 5 is easy, no problem at all. But the I6 is dead in 2015 when Falcon switches to a global platform as there's no way they will design it to suit 2 different 6 cylinder engines that are so dimensionally different. It will be V6, V6TT and V8. Having an I6 would require a higher bonnet and longer front end.
  17. The engines are hot tested before being sent to Broadmeadows, but only for something like 5 minutes just to make sure everything is working properly and nothing leaks. Doubt wether they would see any more than 3000 rpm. Don't flog it hard to run it in, load the engine up as much as you can up steep hills in high gears etc, but don't rev it over say 4000 rpm to start with and not over say 5000 rpm from say 500kms upto 1500 kms before you use all the revs. There's a difference between flogging it and loading it up hard with load. Morons flog them when new. Putting load on the engine helps seal the rings against the bores, redlining them kills them in the long run.
  18. Forget Coyote, Miami is the king and will on HSV's from a great height.
  19. Jag was sold a year or 2 ago, and the sale of Volvo will be finalised in the 2nd quarter 2010, to a Chinese company. Ford can then stick to their core business, and not need to prop up money losing companies that divert money from Ford cars.
  20. Front are same spec but rears are slightly smaller and I think non ventilated. AFAIK only NSW would not accept the standard brakes, I think the other states still use the standard ones, unless they have been offered the Brembos too.
  21. All comes down to cost. Why spend money developing 2 different engines when one can do the job. Part of Fords One Ford policy of eradicating product duplication. I'd give the I6 until 2015. The new Mustang 3.7 V6 makes 227 kw without DI.
  22. There will hardly be any difference between current I6 and the Euro 4 version.
  23. Valves are the same size on all heads, but turbo exhaust valves are inconel, which I'm pretty sure the LPG ones are not.
  24. On the assembly line the manifold is added after the thermostat housing is fitted, so no, you don't need to remove it to remove/re-fit the manifold.
  25. Cause the front driveshafts run just under the different sump in the Territory they will not fit in a Falcon with the lower ride height. The driveshafts would have to run through the bottom of the block. The early Raptor prototypes used a Territory chassis with the Falcon sedan body modified to fit it, the roof was jacked up etc to match the Territory's dimensions. Just like the current T6 protypes use the T6 chassis with the current Ranger/Bravo bodies on top, the guards have been pumped out a few inches to fit the wider track of the T6.
