  1. Well tab, same can be said for your post with reference to gauge reading 0 and DTE reading 0 so hence your empty and you need fuel (Oh and who is dumb enough to drive to guage 0 and DTE 0). Hardly indicates the comment you made about gauge being stuffed and creating this ruckus!. Also considering the topic is about DTE its quite evident one would respond to that topic without having to make reference, however due to gauage being out of the initial topic I did refer to it when discussing its accuracy. So I will see you at English 101 then yeh? Gauge not working is a problem (seperate discussion), but DTE not being accurate is hardly new.
  2. Well if you used your intelligence, like you would with the DTE, you would understand that my reference to 'a very loose guide' would be to DTE, and the accuracy comment being to the gauge. So I guess the irony in this situation is that you have no brain or intelligence, hence you bank on the DTE being correct. Distance travelled and Fuel Gauge is all you should need to view, basic mental skills would allow you to make a judgement on how you are travelling. Although in the case of the gauge being inaccurate in a whoppingly expensive 60k vehicle *tongue firmly in cheek with regard to expensive* then your stuffed either way.
  3. Where above does it say that the gauge reads empty when its not? Ah nowhere I can see, however it does say that the DTE reports 80kms to empty when in fact there is a lot more range left. Hence the comments about DTE being a stupid tool, and your brains doing the actual calculation. How's about we talk about the current thread, hence my comments, and not one that you are discussing elsewhere ey...
  4. ronb I was referring to the DTE being a guide, not the fuel gauge that is on your dash. The gauge is an accurate representation of the amount of fuel left, the DTE is an algorithum drawing from multiple inputs. Everytime you start your car and during your trip, the DTE recalculates and I can guarantee it will be different from when you shutdown to start up. Use it only as a guide, whereas you can bank on the gauge being correct. I swear people are becoming more and more stupid due to technology. How did you used to figure out how far you had to go, oh wait you used your brain, but now because the DTE says it on the screen you believe it, and everytime it fails on you. You can easily drive on any gazetted road in australia and make it to the next fuel station if you use your brain.
  5. Why is it a big issue for how much it reports left? When the needle gets to qtr then fill, unless your using the vehicle for long distance outback touring, your not going to have an issue with finding a petrol station, even in the outback your not going to have an issue. I can understand that if the gauge is not working then your in a bit of a pickle. Its there as a very loose guide, its not fact.
  6. Don't buy a Toshiba, they used to be a fantastic brand, they went cheap. Don't buy an ASUS they are cheap and nasty HP or Lenovo are good quality, they don't look flashy but they are built well. Look at a Mac only if its for home use, integrating them into a Mircosoft business world just creates too many headaches, it works but not always. Look at the Dell Latitude or XPS range, don't touch the others they make.
  7. that's not commitment! I've gone 4wd'ing in my landcruiser, got it dirty and then come home and washed it in the rain in the middle of winter Its just passion...
  8. bigger t/b gives better top end... But its far from being a restriction, stock tb will outflow any other mod you can fit to the n/a engine your spending money on advertising, not on improvements.
  9. Its correct, you dont want to load up the transmission, it will hold the car, but you will get a massive clunk as you change into gear to drive off.
  10. Gotta learn where your front bumper is, always hang the arse end out of the parking bay when you park. I'd rather my car a metre out of the bay, then being beached on the front bumper.
  11. How was the fuel pump and butterfly controlled? Throttle link goes directly to the fuel pump... All Turbos whistle, just to certain degrees, you will never get a silent turbo... I have a massive high pitch squeal, but that's because of the very thin metal hot and cold side piping, they exaggerate the noise. It's part of the fun to having these cars...
  12. The latest Fifth Gear has this exact issue in the show. Granted its in the UK, you might find the same will work here. Take pictures of the pot hole, take pictures of the road its on so as to prove its location, take measurements, and then write to the council its in.
  13. It would sit pretty well I would think. Always have to go one lower on the rear in these packages to get them to sit level. You will be able to slide your hand in the gap with SL springs on the rear.
  14. Back to school little boy, Diesel do not have vacuum! There is no butterfly in the throttle, the induction is controlled by the fuel pump. Inject more diesel, bang is bigger, more air gets sucked in, revs go up.
  15. Disconnected battery will be fine, but in this cool weather if your garage is cool the battery will discharge a certain degree. Leave the tank full, that way it doesnt give the gunk in there time to go hard and block things up. All fuel goes off over time, it will probably feel like 95ron in that short period. If it were diesel then I would drain it, as bacteria grows in diesel and clogs everything. Thankfully petrol doesnt have that same problem.
  16. As above it will be fine, I would recommend getting a good quality charger and leave it on trickle. CTEK is one of the best out there, only need a small Amp one as its just going to top it up during this time. Even better would be to put it on jack stands, mine sits for weeks on end and it takes a bit of time for the flat spots to disappear on the tyres.
  17. ahahahaha, that's golden!
  18. As above, you get what you pay for. The pictures aren't loading, but it sounds like its a dud car bra that you purchase. I have a colour coded one from the original guys. As long as you put a coat of polish on before you fit the bra you will have no problems (dont rub it off). You pay for quality protection, and the 3M protective film is not cheap either. Your also a bit foolish for continuing to drive when you can clearly here something is not right. You can stop and pull over anywhere on the road, nothing is going to stop you from stopping there. Its unfortunate your car was damaged, but the manufacturer is not at fault here. Its almost like oh I heard my engine making grinding noises, but I kept going and now the engine is dead, Ford that's your fault so fix it for free...
  19. Turbo Diesels are typically running positive when cruising, obviously they don't boost on idle. Even the new fandangled variable geometry turbos run positive whilst cruising, just to a lesser extent than the 'static' veins.
  20. Turbo Diesels are running on boost all the time, my Landcruiser runs 13psi max, but usually sits on 8-10psi just cruising along, so if your off the gas you will get a whistle, when your back on it it will whistle again. The Falcon is not having the same chance to boost as high as often to develop that whistle.
  21. I have the dual set of the aeroforce gauges, they don't do all of the parameters, some work some don't. I really wanted it for the auto trans temps, but they don't pick up the readings. You have to watch out with these too, as they can turn on and off on and off all day/night and drain your battery, big concern for me as my car goes might get moved twice a month, not so much if its a daily as battery will be charged. If you change your brightness to low, then you will easily see them day and night, they are clear as day to read. Althought a very expensive gauge, as above they do look cheap in comparison, if the back image was different or just straight black then it would look much nicer.
  22. I'm typing this from my other PC, as I just smashed the sh!t out of my other one from frustration of this game!

Is it a T3, otherwise I wouldnt bother having an AU as a second car. When you say second do you mean weekend warrior?
  24. Buying a bunky is going to cost more than buying a new bottom end. Fire it up, drive off after 30 seconds, give it one good squirt on the drive and shut it down. Once in a while take it for a country drive and it will 'clean' itself out...
  25. Why do people think that 98 is only for performance cars? It has cleaning properties that the other fuels don't compare to, it gives better milage and ofcourse the most noticeable is performance gains. I see people drive into the petrol stations and fill their premium only cars with plain jane fuel... Why buy an expensive car and feed it sh!t?
