Yep. I've read the TSB. It only applied to ZF's within a certain serial number ranges as it was due to the friction material used in that clutch pack during that time. The notes say to not use the additive in a trans outside the listed serial range... "All transmissions built on line one with a serial number above 520000 as well as those built on line two with a serial number above 4100000 have the later type friction plates fitted and should not be treated with this additive." "The additive should only be used if squawk is an issue on transmissions with serial number below the cut off numbers listed above." The additive is called LifeGuardFluid1. I'll report back on the weekend with my findings.

It will lose heaps after it breaks pretty much everything on the car. Cars at those sort of power levels never live for very long before something breaks.

It's is. Plenty of manuals run auto fluid. T5's run Dexron III. Even some of the trucks I have at work run DexronIII. I believe Transmax Z is the standard oil for the Explorer auto.

Go with Flickr instead. PB makes photos really soft when it resizes them. Cameras live in a world of 18% grey. That's what they say is a neutral exposure. That's why white and blacks can look off if those colours dominate the scene. I think there's a bit in the book about it.

On a serious note, you clearly know your stuff about this. I don't know how you all do it. After a days work the last thing I'd want to do is go to the gym.

That's a very useful book. Good move ordering that one. You'll learn a lot from it. Really like the last shot. The exposure is spot on for the car.

Bushes. They're too soft. They'll do it forever even with the best wheel alignment in the world as long as the stock bushes are in there.

My ZF has just started to make a "squawk" sound on the 3-4 change. After a bit of research I've found this to be very common in the Euro cars with these transmissions. I'm getting a service and inspection done of Friday which will hopefully fix or at least identify the problem. I'll be using the Lifeguard 6 genuine oil. I know others have tried different brands, but the genuine oil seems to be about the only one that doesn't have a bad story about it somewhere. My advice would be to not buy that "sealed for life" rubbish as ZF themselves have put a life span on the oil. The general consensus amoung the Euro seen is to change it every 60,000km's. I'll be doing that from now on. Oh, in case anyone is wondering "squawk" is the official technical term too.

I also find it rather rude to come on here, ask for advice and then when genuinely interested people ask for details on your build you say you can't give too much away.
