  1. I'm not sure why there's suggestions to remove the signage. That's how the car is day to day so that's how it would appear in the calendar if selected. This isn't the thread for photos. The link to the nomination thread is posted earlier in the thread. Feel free to post about the calendar in other areas. More people knowing about it should lead to more entries.
  2. Just so everyone is clear, this isn't decided by votes or likes. Where are all the custom cars hiding?
  3. The DRL's are unique too, but not in a good way.
  4. Looks like half the people in this thread are talking about engine oil. It's about ZF auto trans fluid people.
  5. I'll select the final 12 cars with input from the mod team.
  6. You can do that Pazzo. It might be helpful information. Just as long as everyone is aware that it's not ultimately decided on those likes. I don't want to lock in any sort of format until I see what cars are on offer.
  7. Don't need good photos. That's where I come in. We just need some shots to assess whether the car is 'special' enough for the calendar. I've scrapped the earlier idea of individual threads and made one thread for all nominations... FordXR6Turbo.com Calendar Nominations
  8. Ok... I've made a thread for nominations... FordXR6Turbo.com Calendar Nominations If you know of someone that should enter their car then contact them and point them to this thread. The sooner we get the cars sorted the sooner we can get planning and shooting.
  9. That's a good idea Pazzo. I'll be able to bill stainless for commercial advertising space.
  10. Thanks guys. If I'm going to do this, do it well and be passionate about it then I've got to ultimately do it my way. I don't see the purpose of it being donating members only. A collage of shots would take a heap of time and honestly, probably not worth the result. The more I think about this the more I think it would have to be a 2014 calendar. The last thing I want to do is push to get it done by the end of the year and lose out in other areas. One of the main factors for me would to be $0 out of pocket. There's a massive investment from my part with the amount of time, travel and thousands of dollars worth of equipment. I know some people will think this is a simple excerise. Rock up, snap snap snap with the camera and the jobs done. I can assure you it's far from that. We could do a crap calendar like that, but what's the point of that?
  11. I'll be doing the photos for the calendar. It makes it consistent, I know the level of quality I need, I don't have to deal with ill feelings if someone's photo doesn't get selected and I'll know that I did everything I could to get the shot. My vision is for there to be a bit of wow factor in the shot for each month. While I'm sure everyone would love their car to be featured, including me, we need to realise that if there's not anything special about the car then it's just not going to make the cut. I know that's harsh, but that's just the truth of it.
  12. Hi guys, There was a suggestion made by Pazzo in the photography advice & discussion thread about doing a calendar of car photos. It sounds like a good idea and a bit of discussion followed, so I thought I'd start this thread to gauge the amount of interest and to nut out some ideas. Doing this is quite a logistical effort and expense as already highlighted in the previous discussion. The following points spring to mind: Deciding which cars make the 12 cars needed. Deciding on locations. I think it would be best if every car had a unique location. Would interstate owners (outside of VIC) like to be involved? To get this done by the end of the year I'd need to shoot 2 cars per month minimum. The type of shots: Single image page. Multiple images of the car. Main image with a few smaller images etc etc. Sales would need to be pre-order only with payment up front or there's a big risk of money being tied up in product that can't be recovered until it's sold. If anyone has any suggestions for the 12 cars I'd love to hear them. Personally I think we need the cars that are a little unique to the scene. For example Rob's car comes to mind... Post up your thoughts, suggestions or otherwise.
  13. That's not mine... How it's done though is by taking a bunch of photos at different focal lengths. The photographer would've moved forward and back from the concrete block to keep the framing of the block the same throughout the shots. It's a great example of how a long focal length really pulls the background of an image up. Thread for the calendar discussion is FordXR6Turbo.com Calendar.
  14. Kind of. Only car of the year got photos. I'll start a thread to gauge interest.
  15. You're right Paulie, production costs would be high, with a lot of travel and hours put into it, but I think it's doable. I think the best approach might be to shoot it, design it, show an example of it and then sell the final printed version on pre-order only. That way we're not left with a heap of calendars that we paid for, but can't sell.
  16. Cool idea! A calendar would be pretty easy to do. I'd shoot all new stuff for it I think. Getting the 12 cars and picking the final shots would be the hardest part of it all. Might see what I can come up with. Sly, I made it to scale to make it easier for me to add in the smaller photos. It's 6000 x 4000 pixels. It's mounted on 20mm foamcore with a black border. The print is on metallic ultra gloss paper. It looks amazing! Do what Pookey?
  17. Lens compression (borrowed from the net)... Here's a 20" x 30" print I delivered last week...
  18. The Late model camira should be the cheapest secondhand car going if larger sales volume means lower resale as you're suggesting.
  19. Nah mate. You only get paid for what you work.
  20. In case you missed it Danny ran a 10.3!
  21. You're barely a blip on the radar mate. It's only when there's a thread about you in the admin section are you seen to be 'trouble maker'.
  22. If it gets to 100% you get suspended or banned. You can apply to have the warning level reduced after 6 months of good behavior.
