  1. You are never going to get a dealer to give you a fixed delivery date because the fact of the matter is that they have no control over the delivery of your car, if your car has been held up it's because of problems at ford motor company and theres not a damn thing your dealer can do about it. At the moment ford is well behind. I ordered my car on the 22nd March delivery date was first week of July no ifs, buts or maybes and I'm still waiting now with still no confirmed date, all I know is that its at FPV.

    FPV Xr6t

If the BAII is due in early 2004 with the FPV Turbo 6 and a host of other changes for the whole range then they would want to start production now or it will be christmas before the public get their hands on one! Sorry guys a little off topic but I'm a man scorned by delivery dates, just couldn't resist the chance to have a dig!
  4. I would not expect to see now, or anytime in the future a polish or wax that repels road grime, that would be one magic bottle of stuff!
  5. I ordered my XR6T ute on the 22nd of March and was told I could have it at the start of june for various reasons I couldn't take deliverly until the start of july, the dealer was rapped with this saying that was heaps of time to get it built and delivered, I was promised it wouldn't be a problem, Ha! I'm now 7 days off the expected pick up date of my ute and I'm told after a tip form a mate who works there that my ute was specified for july build by my DEALER, F**KING WAN**RS!!! I understand that the dealer has no control over what ford does in regards to build slots but in my case this was the fault of the dealer! To their credit their car controller admitted it was a mistake and has given me a loan car in the mean time but it still doesn't make up for the fact that in a week I should be driving a 240kw ute and instead I have to wait another 3-4 weeks. What makes it worse is the fact that if my friend hadn't tip me off I would be none the wiser right now and getting all pumped up to pick up my ute next week. I never wanted to become a nagging customer because I have to deal with them every day, but in this case I think I have the right to be. Ah, I feel much better now, I'm going to the shop now to buy another keyboard after belting that out on this one.

    New Blue?

Some months ago now I was told by someone at ford that congo green and narooma blue would be dropped in the near future. they were right in respect to congo green so I can only suggest that they're probably right on the narooma blue being dumped as well. the thought seems to be that for whatever reason the narooma doesn't seen to suit the BA as well as it did the AU and I would have to agree. I think that ford wouldn't drop a popular colour such as blueprint, while chewing on a cheeseburger at maccas just down the road from ford I witnessed about 12 BA cars with 7 of them being blueprint in the space of 20 minutes. If ford actually has dropped blueprint then all I can say is I'm glad I ordered mine before it was dumped!
  7. My understanding is that there's only one "wetlook" polish and that is the polymer sealant whereas the other polish/wax products just state they give a wetlook appearance. I use the gold class wax by itself because the meguiars paint prescription I completed on their website suggested that because I have a light colored car (blueprint) I only need to use a wax in a one step application not a polish and wax two step application.
  8. I don't get it why does everyone one say they will wait for there warranty period to be up? If you modify your car you void your warranty so if something goes wrong you will have to pay for it to get fixed. And once your warranty period is up you will have to pay for anything that needs fixing, so either way the end result is the same, you will pay! So why wait if modifying is what you want to do?
  9. A friend of mine broke one of the fog lights and it was replaced under warranty at the recommendation of the dealer, they didn't even see it was broken. Ford says these lights are surposed to be able to withstand stones hitting them and because it didn't it was considered faulty and replaced. So even though you can get the hella replacement reasonably cheap why pay for it at all let ford pick up the bill.
  10. I put a 8inch clarion sub in the back of my EF so I didn't have to cut the whole any bigger and I wish I hadn't wasted my time. Firstly the sub size itself just isn't big enough to give a decent thump, sure it's louder but if it's the doof doof you are after I wouldn't do it. Secondly it shakes the living hell out of the shelf and the sound from the vibration is terrible, maybe the shelf in the BA is stronger I don't know, but that's my two cents wrth anyway.
  11. According to the meguiars website you don't have to use the gold class wax and then the wetlook. Both of those products are meant for a one step application. On a light color car Meguiars recommend using the gold class wax by itself, or you can opt for the 2 step system which is a pure polish and then a wax. A useful tool is the "Meguiars Paint Prescription" which can be found at the Meguiars Website http://www.meguiars.com.au' target='_blank'>
  12. Meguiars have a product called "Scrath X" it removes light scratches and swirls. I hope this helps you.

    Bulk Buying

Talked to a good mate of mine who is a mechanic at my local ford dealer and he said they have just purchased the equipment required to machine the rotors, so it must happen alot if they bought a lathe. The other thing he said was that they are told to machine the rotors to the point where they are at the minimum thickness and then replace them. When I asked if everyone would get a new set of rotors and whatever other components need replacing once they have solved the problem he said he didn't THINK so, but surely they would have to because the problem isn't completely fixed until everyone gets the updated rotors. Unfortunately this is a silly mistake on otherwise an excellent car.
  14. I'm 23 living in VIC country and for my XR6T ute Ford Insure was the cheapest they gave me a rating 1, instead of my current rating 3 and the amount was $1180. AAMI said no because I'm under 30! GIO said no, Just Car Insurance said $1870 and they wanted an immobiliser fitted, which means spending more money and RACV who I had my previous car insured with was $1780. So for some reason I think Ford Insure will get the nod when my XR6T ute finally turns up on the 1st week of July, hopefully!!!
  15. I find it incredible that ford has a disc rotor problem, how could something like that be so screwed up on such a fine car like the XR6T. I mean it's not like making disc rotors is a new thing in the car building business. But in fords defence the disc rotors are probably made by some other company, but even so the same basis should apply, how could they screw it up?!
  16. Sound like you have been driving this car pretty hard if the brake discs need machining after only 10000km!!?? But that's what it's for, right!
  17. I was offered what my ford dealer calls a "defence pack" which for $995 got my windows tinted, paint protection and fabric protection. "Oh it's great stuff they tell me!!" Well after talking to a guy who is a detailer at Toyota and uses the same "defence pack" I decided to give it a miss when he straight away told me it's crap and definately not worth the money! And this bloke has the cleanest cars I have ever seen rain, hail or shine. All that aside he recommended "maguires wet look" as the polish to use and I can't say I'm dissappointed!
  18. On my XR6 Turbo ute with auto trans I got XR mats, XR scuff plates, MOMO shifter, towpack, tinted windows, pollen filter and headlight covers. All this wasn't actually thrown in but I managed to talk $2500 off the price so that more than covered the price of the extras. Now all I have to do is wait for it!!! Am I the only one who ordered their car in blueprint and just had to change the matching interior trim to the grey? Light blue, Yuck!!!
  19. I have on order a XR6 Turbo Ute with a few extras which I ordered at the end of March and (if everything goes to plan) I should have it 1st week of July. I've been and had a look at FPV and I'm not surprised that things take so long, it appears to be a very laid back operation. But hey, I would rather they took there time and made sure it was done properly than rushed it and stuffed something up!
