  1. It's been stated somewhere before that because of the popularity of the Late model camira Expensive Daewoo has been able to increase prices to give them a much much bigger profit margin at RRP. Every Friday in the cars guide I see brand new Expensive Daewoo cars discounted right off the bat, it's a desparate move by Expensive Daewoo I think this proves that Ford has got them worried! It won't bother Expensive Daewoo drivers much though I think, "Late model camira Syndrome" is very well established where I live. Definition: Late model camira Syndrome - The mental state which occurs from owning a Late model camira which causes a chemical inbalance in the drivers brain causing them to believe that no matter what model Late model camira they drive it's the fastest and the best car on the road bar none.

    Gt-p Gets Spanked

I remember reading in Motor that they're working on a auto test piece, whether the XR6T, XR8 etc are included in the test remains to be seen. One can only hope!
  4. I know that the dealer where I purchased my T had quite a few problems with people ordering cars, paying there deposit and when the car turns up they bail for whatever reason. Also the floorplan period is over and if they don't sell it they start paying interest on it. It does seem strange for a popular car, but just because it's popular in one place doesn't mean it popular in another, every brand, every product for that matter have their strong and weak areas.
  5. Sounds like your dealer is getting there cars from other dealers unwanted stock rather than ordering a car through ford to avoid the time on the production line, beware of the build date mate!
  6. And you optioned for the grey interior over the blueprint version. Well done!!!!
  7. I'll just stick to what Ford recommend for the car, it's safer that way, less confusion.
  8. As stated earlier in this topic potai is a New Zealand boy and the rules are different there.

    User Names

Edit:not locked merged. Hi guys, I remember reading a topic about personalised plates but not about our user names (if I'm wrong I guess this will be locked). I was just wondering the reasons why you use the name you do? Mines pretty basic, ALXR6T not to much thought put into it really. The AL is my initials and the XR6T is obviously for the Ford BA XR6 Turbo I own and love, what a car! :D I'm sure a lot of you have more interesting and amusing reasons than mine, so come on lets hear em!
  10. I think Peter from APS summed it up best at the Melb APS day "if your worried about the warranty don't do it". The 240kW is measured from the engine.

    Hardtops For Utes

I have seen an ad for hard covers to suit utes with sports bars, the cover was two piece and hinged up from the back of the sports bar. Can't comment on the quality or reputation of the Hard Cover product but they do make the cover to suit utes with sports bars. Hard Cover Webpage
  12. I have a whine in my ute right on 100km exactly, it's really annoying!!! I think the noise is coming from the diff anyway?
  13. I know that Ford won't allow a dealer to claim the coolant if they have to repair a part of your cooling system, the coolant has to be drained and then put back in once the repair is done. Not sure about oil though. I had my auto on the XR6T worked on 3 times in the first 800km and the trans fluid was replaced everytime in my case.
  14. ed-au-ba-xr6, just wondering why you decided to buy the XR6N/A and modify it instead of just going straight for the XR6T?

    Fpv Xr6 Turbo 316kw

I don't think that the FPV XR6T will ever produces more kW's than the FPV "flagship" GT and GT-P. So until the GT is increased I think the estimated 280kW for the FPV XR6T is probably right.
  16. Put it this way, if you exceed the maximum recommended towing capacity and something happens to the car because directly because of that you want get warranty coverage. There are reasons why Ford have different maximum limits for different cars.
  17. According to the Castrol website the GTX3 is a 15W-40 oil not 10W-30, from what I can see Castrol don't actually make a 10W-30. Their Magnatec is 10W-40 and Formula R Synthetic is 10W-60 these are the only oils that come close to 10W-30. Another fact you might be interested in is that the FPV (not sure about Ford cars) cars have changed from Mobil oil to Castrol oil from the factory.
  18. Ah, there's that glimmer of hope I lost so long ago. The faith in the dealer actually knowing when it will turn up. The magic word should mate! Sorry I don't mean to discourage you. Good luck.

    Whistling Noise

I hadn't considered that it might be the diff and maybe the window is where the sound is entering the cabin. Hmm, might have to investigate further.
  20. The turbo is only rate to tow a maximum of 1600kg whereas the XR8 is rated up to 2300kg. I have a turbo ute and I love it, but in your case I think the XR8 would be better, horses for courses type of thing. Hope this helps.

    Series II XR6T

There will always be, with no matter what brand or type of car you buy, or any product for that matter, a revised series update or a new model introduced further down the track, it's the way manufacturers work. If you are worried about the series 2 then wait, but once you by that series 2 you'll be scared about the series 3. From what I've heard there's a BA II facelift due in 2004, and it will get here when it does, in the meantime I'll enjoy my series 1 while you worry warts putt around in whatever you are currently driving. SEIZE THE MOMENT!!!
  22. Every brand of tyre has there good and bad models, the Dunlops that were on the AU XR's were a crap tyre, whereas the Dunlops on the BA XR's seem to be much better. I had a set of Dunlop Bathurst 1000's on my 16" XR rims on my EF and they are by far the worst tyres I've ever owned, impossible to balance properly by more than one tyre dealership wore badly, gripped hopelessly, I changed them to a set of the cheapest Kuhmo tyres when I sold the car and they made it feel like a completely different car no steering wobble, better ride and better handling. Anyway my point is tyre manufactures make tyres to suit a wide variety of budgets and in doing this quality suffers, one tyre dealer once told me the rule of thumb is to never buy Australian made, whether this is true or not who knows. The MOTOR mag tyre test is a worth a read, I think they should be doing that again soon.
  23. It depends on to many factors to determine, all I can tell you is that mine took another 2 weeks from paint to delivery.

    Fpv Xr6 Turbo 316kw

It just sounds like another after market tuner offering a hotter version than the standard XR6T from Ford, the only difference being the car is "tuned" before it's sold instead of the customer getting the work done after they've purchased it. That's what I understand it to be.

    Speedo Out

I don't think theres anything wrong with the trip computer it shows AVERAGE SPEED not the speed you are currently doing. So because you slow down for traffic, changing speed limits, traffic signs etc it gives a lower average because these slower speeds have been calculated aswell. To get the speed to be the same you would need to reset the trip computer at speed and maintain that speed with no decreases for a period of time. I do about 60% town 40% highway driving and my average speed hasn't gone above 40kmh because of the slow town driving even though I've travelled at 110kmh for 2 hours constantly a few times.
