  1. Ford select cars off the production line for random testing, quality control and all that, this is why some cars have a higher number of km's than others. When the dealer gets the car it has a sticker on it stating the car was picked for random testing. I know of one dealer who had an order for a pursuit ute and was under instructions not to drive the ute at all, they had to push it around, change the oil and then the buyer was picking it up on a tow truck so he could put it in his shed and look at it, crazy I know, and guess what................it was selected for random testing, he was one happy camper as you can imagine.
  2. My ute isn't chipped but on the freeway at 110km I've seen the instantaneous readout vary between 6.5L and 12.5L depended on the slope of the road, I was suprised just how much the fuel flow drops even just on a slight decline.
  3. Hi all, I noticed yesterday that my ute is sitting lower on the RHS than the LHS. I was wondering if the members could have a look at the rear suspension on their utes and tell me if your ute sits level? If you look at the actual leaf spring on each side you will see if there is any difference, particulary if you look at the bottom leaf forward of the diff. On my ute the RHS spring is completely down with no gap between the bottom leaf and the next one up, but on the LHS it's a different story there's a gap, therefore making the ute higher on one side than the other. Also could you note the amount of fuel you have in your tank at the time via the DTE as a reference? Because one possible explaination I thought of is the the LHS spring is stiffer to counter the extra weight from the fuel tank and fuel, at the moment the DTE is on 120km so there's not a lot of fuel in the tank, whereas if the tank was full it would sit lower because of the extra weight, in theory. Thanks any help is appreciated

    I'm Curious

I'm just wondering whats taking Ken so long to find this topic?
  5. I just use the same stuff I wash the car with on the exhaust tip, it does the job fine. As for the dash it's Meguiars UV vinyl protectant, I don't want the sun hurting my baby. The tyres get cleaned with the same stuff as the rest of the car and then given a coat of Meguiars Endurance Hi Gloss Tyre Gel, it's great stuff! Hope this all helps Glenn
  6. Read the post again rexilla! CJF077 is saying that you can add a TV tuner as well as other devices, he's not saying the Blaupunkt system has one included.
  7. It's an interesting fact that about 80% of Ford and Holdens performance models are sold in auto form, and I did say performance models so no, that doesn't include XT, Futura, Executive, Acclaim etc.

    Traction Control Off

The utes got a lot more grip than you may think!
  9. Not sure, but if you check out the new site sponsor they may be able to help.
  10. I agree with Falchoon, you've pretty much sumed it up. Still the XR6T's a great way to go if you want a large sedan or ute with a lot of go, not everybody has problems.
  11. What a nice bloke! Since Russell didn't stop and pick the stuff up Mark decided he would deliver it to the Stone Brothers pit personally just after that!
  12. Edit:Thread Merged. After searching for this topic I can't find it but I seem to remember seeing a photo of a acid rush XR6T I think that had a SS Induction kit fitted to it, and I remember people questioning the placment of the alloy air deflectors in the grill, thinking that they might hamper air flow through to the radiator. If anyone can point me in the right direction or if you have one of these kits fitted yourself please give me your thoughts. I was also thinking of fitting the XR8 air filter assembly after talking to ms700 and just want some informed opinions to help me decide. Thank for any help you can give me.
  13. No one is saying that Ford don't take responsibility for the parts made by someone else, Aaron just stating that you can't blame Ford for a parts they don't make, Ford will replace it under warranty. It's alot like the brake issue, Ford don't make the componets that are at fault but think just how much it has cost them in warranty claims, I'd reckon it would be heaps!
  14. I'm 23 in VIC and with Ford Insure $997 that's half the price of the nearest competitor for my XR6T. that's also the same amount RACV wanted for my previous car an EFII just before I told them to jam it!
  15. I think dealers are probably more helpful to people that actually bought their car from them and not somewhere else, it's just there way of getting back at you for buying somewhere else.

    Series II XR6T

The series II is a long way off how can anyone comment on the price they may be. I'm worried hambo_12 that you are never going to get around to buying your ute mate, you worry to much! Like Nike, just do it!
  17. Ah, it not what you know it's who you know type of thing.
  18. Really, details please!!! Or if it's already been discussed somewhere else, where?
  19. I agree partly with RATT, I'm a dealer for various items and nothing gets my blood boiling more than someone using a price I've given him to get a cheaper price somewhere else and yes dealers do talk to each other. By all means shop around but bargin with your own skills not another dealers price. Another thing to consider which doesn't really apply to cars because there can be a big saving to possibly be made but take into account the amount of time and money it actually cost you to shop around, it may end up costing you more than you saved with all the traveling around in some cases. Anyone who has a brand of product we sell who has brought it somewhere else and then brings it to us when a problem occurs is told to take it back to where they bought it, and the response I always get is "oh, it's to far to take it back there", well it wasn't to far to go to buy it. When I bought my T I told the dealer I had a deal lined up at another dealer which I was happy to except but I would prefer to buy it off them (the local dealer) and I wanted him to give me what he could offer, which he did and I signed and at no stage did I tell him the price from the other dealer. If I'm going to buy something the retailer is going to earn the sale on his own merit not by being force feed a quote from another retailer. And Cro I'm amazed that you've saved so much on CB radios, I sell GME and there's no way in hell anyone would get that big a discount that means I would be selling them under cost!
  20. I think that these newcomers to the petrol game are creating competition between the fuel retailers again, I can't speak for everywhere obviously but I know where I live in country VIC we now have some of the cheapest fuel in the state with none of the weekend price hikes you see in Melbourne ever since the Safeway Petrol Plus opened. Personally I won't touch that unrefined crap, but it's done a good job in bringing down the prices.
  21. And what makes it even more interesting is that the manufacturer of the cameras is now in receivership, I wonder why!
  22. That wouldn't surprise me, after all here in VIC we have speed cameras that can book a trucks trailer for going faster than the truck that's towing it!
  23. What's your definition of hot mate, where's the temp gauge running at?
  24. Just remember to look both ways when crossing the train tracks down there won't you!
  25. Blueprint is actually the most popular color for the GT followed by Blood Orange.
