Finally Got One: My Fg Xr6t!
YellowTurbo replied to Arkayne's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
Congrates man, I have a 2008 FG too the same colour too. I have done a few things to mine now and mine is a manual also. I wasn't upset with the exhaust note, if you owned a BA/BF you would I hated it more. I had a BA turbo. I agree the colour is horrible to keep clean, I have de-badged the rear and put FPV badging on it too. Have fun they are great cars mate. -
I might have a chat to Rob Herrod about car consepts. Might tell him to pull his head in abit. I know that John and Rob would never turn a car away but from what I have heard if its not Herrod gear he doesn't want to help. Got my tune from herrod, very happy with it no problems at all But here a example of Bob. We have a small group tha does track days, if we want to use semi slicks we have to buy rims and tyres from bob to mke it fair. But anyone can use any brakes and do anything to the motor... how is that fair.

Got my exhaust, filter and tune today. Happy with it. Not sure about the power haven't had time to get it on the rollers just yet. It's very smooth with a heap of top end. Not the punch in the back like my last car. I would think it picked up about 20-30 at the wheels. I live in Darwin too, so I'm happy with that. It's a herrod tune, I could get it customised but I don't think I will bother for a while.

sweet sounds great, can't wait until tomorrow afternoon
-
Was woundering what sort of power I will see out of my FG xr6t. Going with just a flash tuner 3, xr8 airbox, filter and catback exhaust. I'm setting this up for the track
-
Thanks guys, I'm just about to change the pads, but atm I'm running the standard pads you'll find in a FG GT. I will be changing them because they screw out disc's very quickly. I'll be running a street/track compound from herrod soon. Not sure what they are I just spoke to Rob yesterday quickly about the tune they are setting up for my car. Benny, I have gone with the standard tyres dunlop sports max, they handle the track better than what I thought however the track temp up here makes them go off quickly. I find them to be a great street tyre and a ok track tyre. I'll be changing up to either fedreals or brigies. But I'm all thinking about putting a 9.5 on the rear end to get more grip. I'm running about 1.5sec per lap behind a xr8 with about 20rwkw more and a stripped cabin, and he has semi-slicks. The only problem I have is with engine temp :(
-
I'll give you a hand too Doug.. not porblems. trade off is that you have to come down to the race track. that's means brakes dude..
-
I would think not, unless the V8's are up. I guess that's what we are going to get if we are going to run them on the track. My rims got a few chips off too, but such is life. All I can think about is avoiding the all in warm up and stay clear of other cars on the race track. Next round of mods; Semi-slicks exhaust flash tuner intercooler maybe!!
-
Track day 1 for FG falcon. Lots of stone chips :( doesn't matter.. It does really :( Car on the other hand ran 1:29 which was the third fastest in my class. Bob from car concepts ran 1.25 (xr6 turbo ute) and some other guy ran like a 1.26, but he stripped his interior (xr8) and semi-slicks. I decided to only run 2 races as I have such low kms and no oil cooler. Only problems I had was over heating problems right on the last lap. Oh yeah the track was hidden valley raceway
-
What just woundering if anyone knows how much the ford oil coolers for FG are? Are they any good? Darwin is too hot for cars :( Is there any other options Regards
-

I was thinking about the drags but I'm setting my car up for the track day on sunday. New oil only done 2400km Doug, I'll talk to rob herrod if your interested and see what he can do with a tune. But the tune you have will be fine with some octane booster. Don't get carried away Darwin is a harsh area on cars. Pinging is your enemy. I'll give you a hand with this intercooler kit and the rest of the crap you brought, sounds like some fun. At the end of the day we can only tell you what we know, it's your decision.
-
Mick at rev it up is a great guy and doesn't bullsh*t. I don't think Herrod will sell through Rev it up. Just so you know Mick sold Rev it up but still works there. Doug get a flash tuner 3, they are adjustable. Just tell Rob what you have and he can sort something out for you. Bob does fit his own stuff now, he had a FG xr8 up doing the clutch the other week.
-
Looks great mate. Don't know about 6 spots behind the 18's, I have work rims and 4 spots are the max running a 355mm rotor Throw some coilovers on it now man and it will look tits Nice job.... I have a xr8 airbox too hopefully I'm making the same power
-
Why when you doing such a good job Whats invloved? I believe that I'm here for a few years. When it comes to tuning I'm going to run a tune that Rob herrod will do for me. He is going to come up and just fine tune it. I trust Herrod motorsport. I don't believe that any tuner in Darwin is 100%. Seventytwo had his tunes done by Dave and never had a problem and the car was almost as fast as mine..lol (sorry mate) Only problem with Dave is he hasn't upgraded the software on his gear.

yeah man, run a twin plate from either mal woods or herrod motor sport. Bob at car concepts can fit it, or mick at rev it up. Mick has my car atm putting the brakes on it Twin plates aren't cheap around 1800 fitted and they are noisy but they work really well and are strong. The thing is I put about 14-15g into that car so give me a extra 15g to mine I bet I can make 400rwkw don't count your chickens. I'm off to the track this weekend. Upgrade the intercooler, I like the looks of process west and rapid. You could do the exhaust again but I would just do a dump pipe and cat. change the shocks. atx by kyb, they are adjustable. Big injectors and pump. Maybe think about upgrading to a flash tuner 3 aswell, you can tune them yourself (I can help with that ) I'm go to learn.
-
get the biggest you can, you'll kick yourself if you don't.
-
Talk to Erko about work rims. He is the man in the know how Yeah I can see I'll be getting some 9.5 when the offsets are worked out on the FG. I might slide my rims over to my partners Raliart
-
yeah thinking about it Well the rears are plenty grippy enough with the stock power but I'm thinking about exhaust and flash tuner. So 9.5 might be useful. Got to be sure they will fit though, the 8.5 have about a inch of clearance behind them. I'm very happy with them and the best thing is the brembos go on tomorrow. thanks again mate
-
I don't think anything can beat that.lol I've got to give Doug (new owner) the dump pipe for that yellow car. I miss the bloody thing :( Life goes on though.
-
Yeah the BF brakes are better than BA but not great. PM me and I'll give you a look of my brembo front which are cheap for what you get. The FG brakes seem better again but I've only done 2200km so far. Are you down the track on sunday? I'll be down in the afternoon for the car concept rounds.
-
thanks dude.. The steering is alot quicker now and you can feel the thing pull harder without the extra weight from the rims. They weren't too bad because I used my Dunlop sports and fitted them to the wider rim I'll go to a semi slick next I weighting for an K&N filter too, but I might go abit futher with an exhaust and flash tuner in the nest few weeks.
-
Well I've got off my bum to take a picture of my 18*8.5 work rims on my FG. Not the best picture. The rims suit the car, the aim of this thing was to get a quick street car and set it up for track. Brembo pictures to follow Whats do you guys think??
-
I've looked at just about every good car, but when I was looking at my FG I was looking at; Evo X FG XR6T RX8 G6ET I had a BA XR6 Turbo with a few mods. When it came down to it, it was the fastest in a straight line, with a few mods it would stop and handle and the price. The price couldn't be beaten. The best sport salon in the WORLD. Save maybe the F6...lol I ended up buying a Ralliart Lancer too

Hello Doug, I'm getting all my Herrod parts through this guy as he pays the freight plus push's on my discount for herrod. As for tunes im going to do a tune from Rob Herrod and adjust it myself if I need too. (Rob on the phone) I'm going to do an exhaust too. I've got my brembo's ready to go on and with my coilovers and light weight rims track days are going to look fun. talk to me when you get back and we can sort the old girl out. And I'll smash you on the track :)
