Bro sorry I can't help you with your question but good on you for doing this..... the old adage of just sell your NA and buy a turbo isn't the case anymore as the price of turbos is through the roof now goodluck
-
Gas bottom end is a gas bottom end there's no variation between them....yea a green top would be good can push it to the point it makes great power really a lot more power Then the 4 speed can handle.... Gaz's suggestions are pretty on the money for budget power but you have to decide exactly how much you have/want to spend..... ultimate budget combo: * 1000cc injectors * walbro pump 460 *cheap cooler *dump pipe 100 cell cat * intake stuff Gaz suggested * port waste gate plus actuator Turn it up to around 300rwkw and I'd be doing it all on a newer turbo motor or green top (can go way more on one of these engines but your transmission will no longer want to live plus you may start to wreck other driveline components).... what's your budget? Then we can best advise you.
-
Yea the Falcons up until mid 2006 had very thin rods... it's not that you can't make power they can make up around 300rwkw with the BA engine but with that many Kays and unknown history boosting it up is not what I'd be doing if your hoping for longevity..... If you do decide to boost it up just have cash ready for Another motor.... is it an auto or manual? yea cooler pipes coming loose is a common issue what colour is the car? Any options on it?
-
All the basics really * waterpump * radiator & hoses * belts * turbo for shaft play or bearing sound * suspension components and bushes especially the rear end cradle * intercooler hose clamps * breaking system 248klms is up there but if the cars been maintained well and had some of the high wear parts replaced which I'm sure it has it should give you trouble free motoring for a while. is it on the original BA motor? If so I wouldn't be tuning it with that many Kays they had weak rods to begin with and with that many kays I wouldn't be upping the power unless you have the budget for a motor.
-
Hahaha yea would be really trick,, tbh traction is these cars biggest issue when your running above 400rwkw, would love to light up all four tyres hahaha could you imagine the unsuspecting persons face when all four tyres start smoking haha
-
was happy for open discussion not smartar*es.... very glad your f*cking off
-
Man your a real f%cwit ay.... no offence to puff but I don't want a territory..... my c63S is not faster but it's 400rwkw with just dump pipes and tune so pretty good,, why all the hate and being a smartar*se coz I'd like awd?
-
There's a YouTube video it hit 100 in sub 3 seconds recorded on a Vbox and yea..... so you don't want awd that's totally fine, I do though and I want it for the traffic light drags and low speed roll ons that's exactly why I want it.... I have more Then enough fun with my rear wheel Drive C63S I'd love my falcon to be awd all Good If others don't but I'd love it... ps I am going epic just about to have the engine and transmission built as well as a fully built driveline car will be 1000hp plus capable no issue
-
People would want awd coz of the traction advantage and the fact you can do 0-100 in sub 3 seconds like the guy has achieved what's yuck about that? I understand it's not for everyone but hey horses for courses. It is a lot of money though I agree
-
Yea massive job for sure.... be keen to see how many jump on board 15k I'd be on it in a heartbeat we shall see it's a good achievement by him none the less
-
Damn.... I was hoping the 10-12k mark max 15k don't know if I'd pay 20, guess will have to wait and see
-
For all those interested, the guy who did the G6E turbo AWD conversion (don't know if he's a member on here or not) has after a long long time put up an update video on YouTube giving an update on the car... and in the comments section is apparently considering starting a business in which he will convert FG and FGX falcons to AWD for customers.. I for one am very keen to see how this pans out. I always thought it was territory running gear and so did many others in fact it isn't (I'm not connected or affiliated with the guy don't know him at all)
-
Man I've dropped back to second like mashed full throttle so many times and I've been fine... but I know im Gambling I just don't care if it snaps,, you guys reckon it's a tune thing? Or luck of draw thing? Or maybe it's a metallurgy thing some shafts mite be stronger then others I really dunno
-
Yea without launching you should be ok for a while, but 400kw with any real good tyre your eventually gonna have dramas with your rear end it's just part and parcel of having a car with that much power (crazy Barra people say oh 400 is nothing on a Barra but 400rwkw is actually big power) my advice just get a good set of tyres don't launch and you should be pretty sweet for a good while.... down the track you mite need to spend some cash but anyone with that sort of car will you can't avoid it...... another thing to note being a ute they havnt exactly got a performance rear end in them anyway which dosent help the cause.... my advice get some good tyres Michelin's if your on the road all the time ( don't get semis if you daily drive the car, to much chance of a prang in the wet seriously not worth it) actually just re read the thread noticed it's a weekender semis mite be good for you then if your never gonna drive in the wet..... youl notice a huge difference over what you have atm
-
Basically idgaf as I'm about to build a box and let it kick down all the time high 400rwkw mark sticky tyres haven't broken it yet... maybe it's a luck of the draw thing
-
Great car but biiig money into it nothing there is cheap, but so interesting to see Itl make that power on factory crank, makes me wonder how many people have paid 20k plus for an engine when much more basic engine builds will do the job....... @JETURBO how much are we talking for the emtron ecu pda and motec dash 7-8k is my rough calculation?
-
Real grippy tyres and a stock driveline where for example your going between 60-90kph and you go hard throttle and it snaps back a couple of gears and suddenly your flying forward----- that type of driving on a stock driveline with a proper 400rwkw and your going to wear stuff out...... but as previously mentioned it's the launches where tailshafts twist up like a coke can
-
Who did da tuning? Is it someone who works on these cars often?
-
Pilot 4S or supersports there awesome tyres and the best on the market in my opinion without going Semi slicks, Sport cup 2s on the back with 4S or supersport up front like suggested earlier is also an idea..... only issue with the Michelin's is the cost and they wear very quickly with 400rwkw youl need a nice tyre budget, if you drive spiritedly every 8-10k youl need new rears... Oh and also in my experience the last 20% worth of tread on the Michelin's is useless once there 80% worn it's time for a new set... There OEM tyre for my merc and have noticed the same on that a C63s makes 315-320 stock and the last 20% of the tyres life it's skate city
-
Who tuned the car?? It's to do with the tune set up id say, when my F6 had minor mods and was tuned there was no more lag then stock and still had that stockish linear power delivery feel. But best way to improve it is a better tune I'd say best person to speak to is the person who tuned it he mite have set it up that way due to the E10 fuel. Don't want to sound rude or anything but if you want to run around on E10 a tuned turbo probably ain't the best platform to do it on,, regardless of that all the best with it!
-
Well done puff..... I've been a yo-yo all my life in the last 2 years from 125 down to 90 now back to 105 now slowly losing it again..... but not today I'm Greek so today is our Easter no such thing as weight loss today.... In my experience it's all About the sugar and simple carbs there the enemy
-
yea it sure does I'm running this exact setup my self on an FG
-
@hipsi any chance of a photo with the wheel and brake combo etc?
-
I've used crow cams in LS style applications twice and didn't have any issues found them to be a decent cam and they are of good quality.... had no install issues either one of the pros is sure to chime in but im planning using Kelford cams on my Barra people are Getting good results and joe from cms also rates them as a good cam. In regards to grind spec I'm fairly sure crow advertise the rpm range of the stage 3cam at 3200-6500 rpm so not a bad cam but seeing as though your manual I would personally be going with the stage 2 cam but that's just my 2 Cents
-
Cool car, love the Barra to bits but I feel like this project could use a nice bent 8 in it!!!! Keen to see which direction you take good work!!
