Nah tom not yet havnt even dropped it off they've had big jobs on it goes to them in a couple of weeks I was talking about my current states of tune I've been pushing 500plus on a factory motor for 5 years im surprised it's still going hey I've been hard on it my ZF is finished though it slips big time and feels like crap... it's really on its last legs now
-
For sure! I'l deffs take you up on that legend!
-
Yea true mare I tend to agree.. my brothers r35 has 550awkw and geez if you plant that thing before you know it your taking off dosent need anymore then that,, I'd really love to see how your territory feels with all that power and awd would be insane
-
Puff your cars a beast bro!! Love what you've done with it, but as you know you can't really compare your car with most of us bcoz you've got awd the way your car picks up and goes at say 500 is very different to a rear drive car.. with a rear drive falcon I honestly think a good well sorted 500-550car will smack a 600-650 car with a larger frame turbo on the street (awd is a diff story)
-
500rwkw on street is heaps..... I never use that tune unless going to a comp or roll race etc,, 400rwkw on street is heaps it's got more then enough to roll with a lot of exotics etc and getting that to hook up of the line/low speed is hard enough..... I've been reading your posts and I think your not really sure what you want ( no offence intended) my advice do the following * intercooler * fuel system * high flow cat 4 inch dump tune for 98/E85 this will max out the stock turbo and this should be enough for you if it isn't then go back and chuck a Gtx turbo on it and take it up to 400kw 98 high 400s E85 At that level youl need a ZF built and driveline will need uprgrading so money invested there climbs big time. when I had 320 rwkw- zippy you go oh wow fast car but get over it very quickly 400rwkw- this car is faaast I'm deffs not sick of it after a few years 520rwkw-- f***ck me, but this tune you can hardly use on the road unless u don't care about you licence/ jail/ killing yourself or someone else... stomp it for a few seconds and your already doing something very illegal haha
-
To the OP in my honest opinion don't get to ahead of yourself and think to much about bulletproofing everything when you may not need to.... what power do you want/chasing? then we can advise what ya need these cars turn into money pits very very quickly it's super easy to sink 50k into one of these cars and still Not be happy with the end result,, If it's gonna be your daily drive dont chuck to large a frame turbo on It youl regret it
-
My power level for daily driving is 400rwkw which atm is my lowest state of tune and tbh if I'm being realistic even that's to much/plenty can rarely use it now in these damn nanny states..... but one thing I'd like to mention Barra is awesome engine we all know that, ZF with some money added into it is awesome for good power but tbh the falcons drivelines suck back past the transmission, anything above 350 rwkw and you gotta invest coin into improving it so you can still enjoy the car IMS diff hat is a must in any modded falcon! Such a big difference

Don't know if anyone here is into the watercraft scene but after years of riding Yamaha I decided to cross to the seadoo side this time around.... 300hp 0-100 in 3.6 with a top speed of 125kays-ish these things handle amazingly cant wait to pick her up next week!!
-
thanks for educating me puff, I knew it was possible but didn't think anyone was really doin it to the falcons,, I'm not a fan of it but hey each to there own is it something tuners advertise for the falcons? , on the Audi, VW stuff tuning companies like apr advertise it as an add on to there tunes like we have ghost cams etc....
-
Ahhh there's not really a thing as a dedicated crackle tune on the turbo falcons like there is for a lot of the euro hatchbacks and AMGs etc,, there is a ghost cam tune on PCMTEC that depending on who you ask sounds pretty tough,, my F6 will crackle ever so slightly on overrun but it's in no way obnoxious ive never actually heard or seen a turbo falcon do those stupid gunshot exhaust sounds when you let off the throttle like I've seen on the Audi/VW stuff it's not really a thing with these cars thankfully
-
Ahh yea that ones also a good idea..... or if trying to save some money just remove the filter screen from the factory line
-
Nice well Mods wise I've listed what the best value for money and best gaining mods can't really do much better then that for mods unless dropping big bucks
-
Sounds like a nice car... So You planning mods? Or just gonna maintain her up nice and keep it stock for now?
-
Give it a full service, if auto and no history service the ZF also, check brakes, all bushes, suspension components, Check your intercooler pipes and clamps make sure all are ok. Consider changing the factory transmission heat exchanger to a PWR unit or an external tranny cooler to avoid the ZF milkshake. If your Asking best first mods do the following: 1000cc injectors intercooler kit 4inch dump and high flow cat mated to factory catback. custom tune (turbo side intake and battery relocation-- this mod isn't mandatory but makes the car sound awesome) this will get you over 300rwkw and max out the stock turbo good mods That keep the car reliable and streetable. how many Kays on the car what colour etc?
-
Tell me about it man.... FG motors people are asking big coin for em now and most got big Klms on them.... tbh If I blew a factory motor I'd just get a built one.. paying big coin for someone's used motor no thanks rather pay bigger coin and have a freshie in there...... on abit of an off topic all this hype around Barra atm I wonder if it will last a long while or if it's just a phase im About to build a motor for my F6 a part of me wanted to sell my Low Klm F6 engine off and buy a cheap NA motor and build that from scratch seeing as Though I could get serious coin for an FG F6 donk atm but I want a matching numbers car even if it's been modified...
-
True true fair point.. I gotta disagree on the different motor not needing a retune though identical motors same setup can need a different tune to be spot on and I don't think Gas Motors and turbo motors even have the same comp ratio.... my motor bent a rod on cylinder 6 launched it from a dig gripped perfectly and that was that....
-
El Andrew you have a fair point, not saying your wrong or anything but I was just looking at it in a different way ..... I was looking at it in the way of saving the guy money in paying for tuning twice as well as the fact the motors got an unknown history and 250clicks is a lot of kays.... I know it's a Barra but still back when I had a BA everyone said oh 300 is cool for a BA no worries... I was running a 290rwkw tune from autotech and at around 130 clicks motor was rooted.. and I took good care of that car Maintenance wise.... my Good friend also lunched his BA engine running similar power tuned by C&V..... tbh I personally don't think a BA engine with that many Kays with an unknown maintenance history has any business seeing more boost but then again your right he mite want to just send it and see how it goes....... but I still reckon he's better off with the gas motor from The beginning only pay for a tune once and he can lean on it more give it a proper hiding and not have the worry in his mind that Rodney mite appear...

Perfect man good work!! Keep us posted
-
Skip the ZF if the BTR is built just drop that into your turbo, ZFs are very expensive to play with when there's issues and then theres the whole mating it to the car debarcle don't really see it being worth your cash for what im assuming you want to do...... Yea you got the right idea but the green top Will Still need The supporting stuff like fuel system and intercooler to make good power
-
Hahah..... I purchased $500 bucks of shiba when it was at its absolute floor thus far.... hopefully it ages well who knows could go absolutely no where but I guess we shall see
-
I would swap the entire engine out rather then taking two engines apart as a 248k engines valve springs are Probably tired and depending on maintenance could have shagged cams and timing gear as well there's no such thing as a factory turbo green top all green tops were NA gas motors but that's a good engine for boost no such thing as a silly question ask away,, there is heaps of info already on the forum 99% of the questions you will want to ask have answers already on the forum so search away
-
Hahaha come on tommy ye of little faith haha It could be a built BTR in an NA 😎
-
Oh yea 1000% chuck the built BTR into the turbo then get yourself a green top Barra and send it
-
Both options are easy just pick your preference for the flutter..... question out of curiosity why does the NA xr6 have a built Gear box? That's interesting
-
+1 on Keith's suggestion for dose tbh don't wanna sound negative (I only say it bcoz I want to be honest) a 250thousand kilometre old btr isn't gonna like any more power over what you have now and will likely sh*t it self at 300rwkw very quickly
