Yea I agree, I just sometimes wonder (and I genuinely mean wonder not being a smartars*), why people like these cars with the large frame turbos e.g. gtx 42 and larger that are heaps laggy they make the car hard to drive and enjoy (I can understand if 1/4 times are the main goal though) hey Tom why is the standard manifold only good to 500 why does more then that risk damage? Is it a flow issue I’m assuming?

I’ve never had the pleasure of driving a tuned up supercharged v8 but I’ve driven a factory Supercharged VF gts completely stock tbh there fairly gutless under 2800 rpm...... although when cruising along you plant it kicks down a gear or 2and it’s just instant power fun cars... my personal opinion on the Barras is that for a STREET car the GTX 3582 & G35 sized turbos (and other manufacturers equivalents) are about perfect for them lag is minimal and they make enough power to keep 99% of people happy any bigger then that and there not such a good street car anymore... keep in mind this is just my opinion and I’m sure some will disagree, I’ve driven a Barra with a gtx 42 wasn’t for me nothing power wise then suddenly it’s a smoke show and your tearing tyres apart and revving at 7000rpm in the blink of an eye it is fun to begin with but when smaller frame turbo cars with 50% less power then you are belting you off the lights and up to 120kph... it gets fairly annoying. @01txr have you considered pulsar turbo systems equivalent on the garret g35-900 or 1050 there much much cheaper then the genuine garret.. tbh I’m considering a pulsar turbo, I know the garret is probably better but bloody hell garrets have gotten super expensive gtx3582 gen 1 supercores used to be $1500 a few years ago can’t touch a garret for that money anymore... pulsar seem to have a decent rep maxx performance is using them on the regular and some YouTube reviews rate them highly. pulsar turbo g35-1050 with a t3 and Vband is $1325, it’s $1600 if you want the t51 mod done on the comp housing Genuine garret cheapest I’ve seen is $4000 and most places want around 4300, tbh it’s a ridiculous price for a turbo

Nws Tom thank you ,, oh mate tbh I earn just abit above average from my work I was smart/lucky with a couple of my investments when I was younger and I’m an old I <3 Bananaser now haha plus the misses works full time so that helps...

Well mines got 40k kays on the clock not a single issue mechanically so far, my older C63 507 edition I had I put 120k Klms on it and never had an issue the AMGs I believe are mechanically better then the regular models (mite be wrong but I’ve never had an issue) Build quality wise it’s the best car I’ve ever had (have had BMW M cars and Audi RS cars before) and this cars been rock solid the way the way the doors close and the touch materials are all great (not a cheap car so it’s to be expected I guess) but yea there built really well. I service every 7500kays when the manufacturers intervals are every 20000kays 🤔 which I’m sure helps... they take 10litres of fully synthetic which I’m sure helps with oil longevity but 20000kays is way to much.. oh and yea they sound ridiculously good when in sports plus or race mode the crackles on overrun are addictive... probs my Favourite part of the car tbh is the different maps on the ecu there really is a huge difference between comfort, sport, sport plus and race.... for comparison my F6 isn’t built as well but it’s a lot more roomy and it’s never given me a mechanical problem either... and seeing as though my f6 is going 11 years old and modified im happy!! well unless you count diff bushes as a mechanical problem but that’s very very minor in my eyes it’s a shame that Ford never got the rear end right same issues since the BA

Hey guys just for those interested had my C63s in for dump pipes and tune... made 390rwkw,, down pipes & k&n air filters are the only mods also had the transmission re calibrated.. Keen to see how it goes havnt picked it up yet should sound mental as the amg catbacks are a 3inch stainless exhaust from factory only Restriction is the dump pipes as the cats are apart of the dumps I’m now running 100cell cats. wasnt going to Mod this car but an opportunity came up to get the dump pipes for absolutely Nothing ( got them in exchange for doing a small job for a client who decided not to go ahead with installing them)
-
Agreed mate other issue which helps pricing is there’s no other high powered performance sedans on the market unless you can afford the expensive euro stuff and even then.... I own a 2018 C63S AMG things a beast and a better car then my FG F6 but is it 120k better nah no way
-
Ohh nice!, what cams ya gonna go for? VCT lockout or nah?
-
Yea market will simmer down IMO but some are of the opposite opinion and think the market will only get hotter for Aussie performance cars but who knows wel have to wait and see.......
-
Sounds like a beast! Yea the cars mite not really be worth that much and I tend to agree but that’s what the market is Demanding and there selling for those prices as well... clean FG turbos dont stay on the market long even with inflated prices.... so are they really worth that much no but if people are paying the inflated prices for them then maybe??? Somethings worth what someone is willing to pay for It... mind you I don’t think this market will last long it’s also helped by the fact that VF HSVs are going for AMG money putting them out of reach for a lot of people.

If it’s been well maintained those Klms are nothing Maintenance is a lot more important then kays, my F6 has 87k on it drives like the day it left dealer for the most part,, old company I worked for let me pick my company ute of course I picked a xrt ute they were responsible for maintenance and were very lax on taking care of it by 110k the thing felt like it was completely rooted... it’s all about the life it’s had, for 25k if the cars clean when you see it it’s a good buy turbo falcon prices are nuts atm you won’t get a good FG for that money I don’t think
-
Yea totally get you principal is worth more Then money sometimes and it’s nice to be able to make adjustments to something you paid for anyway....... as I far as I see it when you pay for a tune you pay for the knowledge as well as the finished product which means what’s on the tune should be yours to do as u wish.... additionally to that tuning of these cars isn’t anything new they’ve been around for years I don’t really know how much Is left to Discover with these cars that hasn’t already been... hey for those in the know if you use a haltech plug and play can the tune be locked or can the next tune shop see What the one previous has done?
-
He won’t unlock your tune... his rep is good enough that one unhappy person about his tune being locked won’t bother him one bit.... sucks .... probably also dosent help that you weren’t the one that paid him for the tune.. mate tbh in my opinion a tune being locked won’t do anything to resale in most people’s eyes as most additional mods require a retune anyways it’s not so much different to having a factory stock vehicle as most mods require tuning regardless. sucks he won’t help you out especially as what I think jet it saying that the tune won’t contain any secrets in it anyways.. could be more of a cash grab on his end hoping you return to him for a retune ps his offer of a remote tune is bullsh*t he knows to hire a dyno and buy pcmtec that your up at retune dollars anyway he knew that when he made the offer, exactly why he said he’s not happy with a few road pulls in 4th gear
-
@JETURBO thanks for your input jet,, mate could I ask (without you giving anything you don’t wanna give away) mate say for example a basic dump injectors intercooler tune would the way the car is tuned between 2 or 3 professional Shops vary that much that tunes justify being locked? Are there really that many ways of going about it? Or not really?
-
Good on you for letting us know, tuners keeping there tune locked vs unlocked is a big debate and there’s arguments for both sides... but at least now we know we can make an informed choice about that shop
-
I agree most don’t care, that’s exactly why people should share there experience and name the workshop so we as consumers can make an informed decision on who to use
-
Yea that’s not a bad idea...
-
@hjtrbo sucks that he won’t help you out and I’ve got every sympathy for you man hope you can sort it out to your liking but it be nice if you told everyone who it is... I don’t understand when people say don’t wish to mention who..... If your telling the truth (which I believe you are don’t doubt you at all) you should state who it is.... and warn other consumers. Just like you said tell them youl take your money elsewhere it’s easier for us to do so if we know who is practicing like this I respect most professions just as I do performance workshops but I sorta get over this whole thing about not wanting to name tuners or performance workshops like there some sort of mafia that no one can speak out against.... If I ripped off or upset my clients people would certainly make it known and I’d eventually be out of a job anyways sorry for my little rant all the best with getting it sorted mate
-
thanks for getting back and confirming dyno type, even on a roller I’m sure those mods would be into the early 300s ,, btw was never doubting you or anything just found it interesting that F6 injectors would make over 330 seen a couple of cars with F6 injectors and ran out of squirt in the high 200s early 300s... enjoy the new found power!!
-
Did some research mainline dynos still state chassis dyno on top of sheet and will show axle speed on the sheet when it is a hub dyno
-
I was under The assumption bcoz the sheet Says axle speed that it’s a hub? I know Blakehurst auto have a hub only recently purchased,, don’t know if they still have the roller Dyno though
-
You’ve got good power but 500 can be put to the ground if you set the car up properly.. actually yea the injectors probably do have allitle room I just realised the cars a manual and was rolled up on a hub dyno so that’s probably showing a slightly higher power figure the manual results in less driveline loss...
-
Nice power enjoy it, good power for minimal outlay, didn’t think F6 injectors could go 330rwkw nice ride
-
Thanks for the input guys,, yea deffs don’t wanna short change the sale but at the same time don’t want it sitting around for months either will put an advertisement up and see how we go.... I guess maybe apart of the reason they holding value is these days you can’t buy a new proper high performance sedan unless you got 150k plus for a euro.. that and the reputation of the barras for easy power.. wow that green one 535rwkw on a standard bottom end that’s brave just on a side note anyone seen what VF HSVs are going for if ya think turbo falcons are overpriced take a look at a VF HSV as much as I hate to admit there an awesome car but you’d have to be nuts to pay what people want for them... (unless your loaded that is)
-
@Bulletime wow any link for the Ute? So I can take a geez at it.... yea we was thinking 35k would be a fair price to ask funny people usually say power mods don’t attract value and in some cases detract from value but I guess with these barras it just depends who’s looking getting harder to find completely factory ones these days.... mite just list it at 35 non negotiable or put asking price slightly higher so people can knock it down a few K and be happy.... we shall see how we go thanks for the input guys... I guess another factor would be if people badly want F6 over XRT... or if they just don’t care,, I know there very similar cars but there’s a lot less F6s goin around compared to XRs
-
Hey guys my brother has a 2010 FG F6 sedan 95000kays it’s only got minor mods cat dump injectors and tune, car is in good condition and requires no mechanical work only fault with it is a few stone chips etc. I’d buy it but I got my own F6 haha what do you guys think is a fair price? What people are asking on car sales compared to what redbook says there worth is a totally different world and the dealer when he went to buy his ranger said to him not even gonna value it for you as youl be deeply offended as to what I offer you for it and it’s worth more.... (surprised a dealer would say that but good on them I guess) could just be another reason they don’t wanna trade it idk but that’s what he said. There’s really hardly any on car sales either and I don’t bother with lookin at gumtree full of morons and dreamers Thanks for the opinions guys main reason I ask is 18 months ago higher Klm examples could be got for around 28-30k these days a dealer is asking 43 for a model with 140xxx kays on it and some private sellers want over 50 it’s hard to put a price on it...
