  1. Will be super interested on the post mortem
  2. Jesus. Haven't heard of a timing chain snapping randomly. Did you have a solid timing chain tensioner?
  3. Yeah, A1R seem to be around $370 a tyre, which I'm not keen on. I think I might try Nitto NT01
  4. Not much to report on this bad boy. I've moved to Canberra, and have been pretty busy. Everything seems to be working as it's supposed to, and the tune gets better and better with every drive. Only thing I need is new tyres. Just have to work out the best semi slick option. ET Streets seem to be ridiculously expensive these days...
  5. Nice one mate, looks like it has all the mods you'd want for a daily!
  6. Sounds like some good testing man. I have to admit, I keep waiting for the "I decided to send it and it broke" post haha
  7. I think you misunderstood. I'm advocating big single...
  8. Sounds like a lot of work man. All I'll say is return to stock, and/or twin turbos FTL haha
  9. Fair enough. Understand why you're considering a twin turbo option, but as has already been said, twin 35s won't offer any advantages over a big single. I could be wrong, but isn't reliability at the current power level important before you consider upgrading?
  10. Sorry, I should have been more specific. The bloke I spoke to cut away the G55 because it didn't make the power, or at least not the advertised power. I don't think the G series is too popular with the RB and JZ community either, but who knows, maybe they're the only reliable option for big hp drag applications
  11. I randomly spoke to some dude that tried the G55 when it first came out, and wasn't happy with it. Drag racing application, I think he changed it out for a precision
  12. Got fuel economy down to 20L/100km, which is a vast improvement. Just completed a 400km road trip and it performed flawlessly. Took the old man for a spin on the low boost setting - bit of a fright for a guy who normally drives around at 20km/h under the speed limit. I'm really happy with my turbo choice for this car. The G35-900 makes a great manual street car. I've got usable boost at 2000rpm, and it's never far away from frying tyres whenever required. I know I still owe footage - maybe in the new year!
  13. Kinda defeats the purpose of going away from the factory manifold if it doesn't come with an external wastegate option man.
  14. Geez, you don't stuff around. Took me half the day to take my front end apart to clean up some wiring, change headlight globes and do some cleaning.
  15. No 4-wheel power slides at your power level?
  16. So secretive... are you under surveillance or something? Dial a hoon concerns? ACA door knocking in your area to find the owner of all the black lines around the place? Or are you going to race this bad boy and attempt to pants some big names?
  17. Yep, for your FG, the 5 bar and loom is what you want. The resolution refers to the number of cells below 0 manifold pressure that are available to input values against everything from fuel trim, ignition timing etc. The 4 bar would hunt around the smaller number of tuning cells, and consequently drove like arse. The Omni 5 bar has changed everything from idle, transient throttle, engine smoothness, ignition timing stability, fuel economy.
  18. Yeah, but its been super helpful to share resources for troubleshooting
  19. I'm pretty sure it was a Bosch 4 bar, but I didn't choose it. Would have been better off with a Bosch blue 3 bar, coz I only run 25psi. But now I can send it in future. I'm pretty sure I can get more boost into it with more wastegate spring, it's only a 1 bar. But I couldn't be bothered for now. I drove it with both turbine housings, but the 1.01 was only initial run in, so only gentle driving. The 1.21 got swapped in when we tried to send it, and turned out to come on earlier and make more power. No footage yet, but I shall try. I need new tyres, so it's a bit wild atm haha Still some minor driveability stuff to sort, it goes rich and misses or bogs down on some higher rpm and load gear shifts, might need to look at throttle dampening. But now the TMAP is sorted, the Haltech can start proper long term trim adjustments without being thrown out
  20. The 355mm rotor is designed to fit the Brembos, both 4 and 6 piston front. Going any bigger is pointless because the pad can only engage as much rotor as designed. Plus, unless you go 2 piece rotors, you're adding unnecessary sprung weight with bigger rotors
  21. Massive shout out to @JETURBO. Helped me work through some driveability issues with my tune, and then the thread about TMAP sensors came up, prompting me to change out whatever dog sh*t 4 bar sensor I had for an Omni 5 bar. Night and day difference. Can confirm how critical low down resolution is. Edging ever closer to making the car what I want. A super tidy cruiser that can scare the crap out of you when needed, but is comfortable, functional and reliable.
