  1. Polarising indeed. I know there are plenty of people that have forgone the windage tray, or installed it incorrectly, which is likely to have a greater effect than a girdle
  2. Is a girdle really required?
  3. Good on you mate - no replacement for experience working on your car!
  4. @gaz097 I can tell you miss your car already 😄
  5. Whiteline. Whatever the biggest they make, can't remember sorry. And yes, adjustable. I think I have front hardest, rear softest
  6. I've got swaybars on mine and I like the way it feels, but it has introduced understeer when pushing hard. Probably not faster, but more fun
  7. Hey man, welcome. Good to see someone else repping a manual trans for a bit of track work. All I'd say is don't try and make the car fast on the track, it never will be. Just try and make it fun and reliable. As for your heat soak, your only option is a bigger, better intercooler, and effective heat shielding around your turbo and manifold. Stock radiator and cooling system is usually OK. I don't know whether others have found an improvement with any of the aftermarket 52mm radiators
  8. I do, but having issues with upload. The CVs are a lot bigger, but the actual shaft is around the same diameter. 1400hp ones are about 30% heavier
  9. Interesting. I'd not heard of anyone breaking a 700hp one. I think the CV is bigger on the 1400hp ones
  10. Come on mate, you just got a perfect description and free advice that could save you hundreds of dollars. Get in and have a look around the passenger footwell area. Take photos yourself and post those if you need further guidance
  11. Any suggestions on the best place to put the haltech rotary dial? I have a single din stereo, but I don't reckon there is enough room for a backing plate underneath.
  12. I think they're the sort of numbers the engine builder relayed to the shop. Mine will be interesting because its not peak hp that's the concern, it's peak torque low in the rev range (or lower than a typical big turbo)
  13. Surely this is boring after you've hit your lofty heights? 600kw is weak sauce for a barra these days. But I stand by my manual trans. I'm already in danger of losing the fun aspect with the clutch needed to handle it though...
  14. She be opened. Apparently my oil pump housing had a chunk missing from unknown debris, and my cam lobes had some wear. Good thing I bought the new Dyno-Mite cams! New oil pump with billet gears and backing plate of course.
  15. My engine builder is a fan of US made stuff, and Howards seem to have a rep for being well finished billet steel rods. Was originally going to get Carillo rods, but there was a 4 month wait on those. Looked at Nitto, but the Howards are significantly cheaper. The G35-900 will only make 600rwkw absolute max, so I'll be well within safety margins. Not interested in massive turbos
  16. Will take a little while. I think the shop won't install the engine for another month. Getting the engine bay painted and tidied up. Then they want to do a 1000km run in before sending. Which works well, because I need to bed that clutch in...
  17. I'll send it as far as a G35-900 can go, don't you worry!
  18. Update: engine build complete. Went JE pistons with upgraded wrist pins. Howards billet rods. Should be good for 1200hp.
  19. Fair enough, I just found in my engine build journey that nobody is keen to build an engine using the SCAT rods in Brisbane. Not sure if it's a regional prejudice not
  20. Bullet dodged. I'm pretty sure the scat rods are only rated to 600hp
  21. Nah, I like both, I just prefer manual. I've thought about the exact same thing you're doing, just manual instead. I think if I was doing an auto, I'd go a ute, with massive tubs.
