  1. I have an f6 turbo in a box ready to go. Complete with 45mm gate welded to the housing. Trouble is I can't afford the upgrades I need to support it atm. Supporting mods I'm talking about that I'll need for the 3582: 45mm wastegate and screamer, springs (I have springs and retainers but don't have the tools to DIY), and a retune, and I'd like to do head studs at the same time. For me the best option is to just buy a second hand fg turbo and replace the currently cooked one, I may have a stock replacement turbo lined up for cheap (my brothers old 3576 that a friend isn't using). I've been driving around for longer than I'd like to admit with the turbo the way it is. I don't have another car so I don't really have a choice 🙃 Cheers for the help though, was hoping there was an easy shortcut to replacing the f*cked turbo but appears not lol. So to take the turbo off, after some research, seems like the best method is to remove the manifold with the turbo then remove turbo from manifold when its all off the car. This sound about right?
  2. Bahaha I get the impression @k31th doesn't like tapatalk 🤣
  3. Didn't think this question was worth creating a new thread. Did some snooping on the web and on the forums but haven't found what I'm looking for. Turbo in my car is cactus, as mentioned before. I'm clearly not getting any warranty replacement on it seeing as its been months since I tried and have heard nothing back. I'm gonna source a good condition factory replacement 3576 and replace it myself. Is it possible to replace it as a supercore? I.e. take the compressor and chra out of my car and put in a 2nd hand version without needing to take the turbo off the car? This would be the easiest way to replace the one that's on my car by far, so if its possible that would be awesome. Or do I need to remove the whole turbo from the car? Cheers all
  4. Plenty cars out there with them though @SydCrazi. They are very well known for being cheap and being able to slam the sh*t out your car. Not sure if being well known for being cheap is a good thing. But hey, probably still better than the factory ones (maybe) 🤣🤣🤣 Deciding what coilovers to get is a massive debate, especially on pages like club FG. As soon as you mention getting a set, there's always the "shockworks or nothing" debate. But I'll let you see the price of them things... Spoiler, they're fkn expensive 🤣 If I were to get a set of coilovers again, I'd go with MCAs. Very good bit of kit with plenty well known rigs running them and backing their performance. Not terribly priced either
  5. I dunno, I'm not sold on their coilovers. Seen a few fail. Brother has xyz coilovers in the front, and his previous car had them all around.... his leaked like f*ck all the time too. I spent the extra cash on BCs. After a lot of research I found them to fit my "best middle ground" setup. Not the best, but not the worst
  6. Succcch and expensive kit though, which is very frustrating. Nothing special about them, they're good quality don't get me wrong. Just over-priced
  7. @lykag6 he's not wrong, heard this plenty times before. https://mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/64583/why-one-should-not-leave-fingerprints-on-bulbs-and-plugs
  8. This week has been unbelievably busy for me! Last proper day of work this work at least, work Christmas party from 12 tomorrow so I doubt any work will be done prior Notable items of the week: Been given my first proper project that I'll be developing at work. Comes with a bunch of "I have no idea wtf I am doing" but that's to be expected. Mostly just getting used to software and the way we manage things in the software that is taking the most time. 3km left of the 1500km run in for my brothers car. He is flying out on monday and the tune is booked for then, so I'll be driving it there and taking it back.... What a win 🤣 Sent an email to the lecturer of the unit I did for uni that had an exam, it was the only exam I wrote this semester. I have passed everything, just waiting on the exam result. It is literally the thing that will determine whether I am finished with uni or not. Anyway, sent him an email because I've been stressing the absolute fk over this exam, it was hard and I didn't feel confident in it. Asked him how I went in it, if he was able to tell me earlier. He called me and said he is not allowed to reply to such an email but "not to worry about your result in the exam" and "I wish you all the best in the future".... Apparently results are in tomorrow... I think I'm done with uni....
  9. Topic in question: I can't reply to this, when I do the page just refreshes and the URL ends in "FailedReply=1" But replying with "TEST" is fine???? This is the original reply that fails: " What about ultrex? They're a popular brand for turbo exhausts too I'd say x-force offers the best quality and sound of all the options on the market. I have an ultrex 4" dump and 5" cat and its been fine. Only issue is there is no measure for reinstalling the lower bolt of the heat shield like it does on the stock dump. x-force have this in place though so its 100% bolt-on like the factory one. I think x-force are the most popular brand of them all, many shops include their exhausts in their relative performance packages. I have heard both ultrex and x-force on turbo cars. I personally prefer the x-force, but will be going with ultrex because 1. they are based in perth and 2. they are cheaper. TL;DR: x-force, ultrex, and manta are all decent enough brands and you can't really go wrong with any of them. "

  11. Tell me about it 🤦‍♂️ Oh forgot to mention the hearing and eye protection rule applies to the air compressor too 🤣🤣
  12. We are getting a whole bunch of new offices built at work atm, the RND team is getting a massive new space. Today there's a bunch of tradies removing a set of stairs to the mezzanine floor and replacing them with a new set... Something to do with new gov regulations making the old set unsafe because the stairs themselves are stairs like this, apparently that is now deemed not safe because you see through the stairs? ❄❄❄ Anyway that's not what I was getting at, just had a heated discussion because apparently the tradies are "extremely unsafe" because they are not wearing hearing protection?????? I said that "my exhaust is louder than that grinder" and wearing hearing protection seems "a little silly" and was scorned for thinking so lol. Eeye protection I can understand, hearing protection though??? Also, HR has now deemed that we must wearing hearing and eye protection when using the drill press. Fantastic. Don't want to get deaf from drilling my little plastic enclosure! I grew up in Zimbabwe with African parents so maybe that's where this unsafe attitude has come from 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  13. I listen to the same/similar stuff. Mrs cannot stand it... so I can only listen to it when I'm by myself, I always crank it up when I'm alone. When we have kids one day I'ma get them into it so we can blast that sh*t all the time 🤣🤣
  14. I didn't need one as I went with a walbro 255 My future plan is to install the kpm 1000hp drop in fuel module, and it comes with a fpr, hence why I've not bothered purchasing one previously
  15. If you're looking to push more power in the future, and you plan to add more pump and stuff, you're gonna need an fpr anyway. So, if its on sale now I'd get it now. that's my 2 cents anyway 😂
  16. ffs I told myself I'd be good during the black friday sales..... Had head studs in the cart too.... But I should probably wait till I get a pay rise before I go spending any more money 🤣
  17. I have a 255lph fuel pump, stock exhaust, stock springs and mt stage one and made over 300kw, so with everything listed you'll definitely make over 300kw. Get the pw piping kit too if you haven't, I don't imagine installing the IC with the stock piping will connect up very well. Why are you looking upgrading the turbo? You'll need an external wastegate setup with that chosen turbo, about $1500 through mt. My brother has that turbo, its way more laggy than the stock one, and will put you closer to 350kw mark. Also, MT stage 1 includes injectors so you don't need to buy them separately 525 fuel pump requires bigger gauge wiring than stock. You will fry your stock wiring if you connect it straight up, seen this on the forums and on FB multiple times in the past. Easy to upgrade though If I'm not mistaken, you'd also need to do some pressure relief mod thing to the factory fuel hanger and you'd likely need a fpr too.
  18. Can anyone explain when it would be necessary to use aftermarket retainers when doing springs? Whats wrong with the standard retainers? I know rob uses the crow springs, and the spring and retainer kit is on sale atm from precision racing. Edit, same kit also on sale from independent motorsports
  19. Damn that is one hot looking bit of kit 🤑😍
  20. MT, because its on sale and the cheapest billet option there lol
  21. @R ichard From the workshop manual, clearly shows where the O-ring is located Pretty sure that step 2 is referring to item 3 in the table. If I'm not mistaken, the O-ring is part of the heater section of the cooling system. though, doesn't really matter what its for, it just needs to be replaced periodically. Personally, I do when it starts leaking but preventative maintenance, like what puff recommended, is a better option.
  22. One of the flaws of these motors, that fkn o-ring 🤣🤣🤣
  23. I'm really keen to see how these perform behind a barra. Please keep us in the loop with your conversion @adams355!!!! Also, wtf is a "GCU"
