FG workshop manuals https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1g7klUdziS-rZpJXNI4yj8lQ5Vb30nUHL?usp=sharing Have them stored in my google drive and trying to find a place to put the link for others. Hope this helps some people out there!

Falcons are notoriously sh*t for doing custom audio, all because of their ICC trying to do everything in one package. Neat idea but riddled with restrictions and lack of features. If you're looking to add your own head unit to the mix the easiest way is custom mounting the head unit into the glove box and then intercepting the speaker wiring. Some companies offer head unit fascia kits to put your own head unit and relocate the factory screen to the bottom of the ICC. @k31th isn't there a thread with the FG workshop manuals? I swear I remember seeing this because I downloaded them all from this forum. Included in these files is audio wiring diagrams that can help @AliyahSkyout. Added a link to the files I have on this thread, hope it helps @AliyahSky

I have dba DB1473XP pads on the front. They are DBA extreme pads. I have DBA street pads on the back. Front ones are the dustiest pads I have ever used, actually crazy how bad the dust is, the back are fine though. In saying that, with some spirited driving and warming up the front pads, its actually crazy how well they stop the rig. So overall, impressive braking results from the extreme series, would recommend if you do spirited hills runs and if you can get over the crazy amount of brake dust. I've heard many great things about the project mu pads though, so maybe just switch back to those?

Cheers man Good way to the end the year

The launch was awesome!!! Not as good as the spacex launches imho but I may be biased towards spacex lol. Happy new years all!! Hope you all had a great Christmas! Been away for some time over the christmas break, back to work on the 4th sadly 😞

Car update time! Got 10L of oil, heaps of coolant, and studs have arrived. Got a whole bunch goodies from Goleby's too that I am waiting on.... including an external wastegate 😏😏 Decided screw it, 3582 is going on the car, not putting it back together with the cooked 3576 or wait any longer for the warranty sh*t. Used the opportunity to use the camera too, haven't used it in a while!

Bought myself a fiancé over the Christmas holiday. Goes alright, not very good at yet cooking though.

Merry Christmas all!!! 🎅🎅🎅 And yes, VERY excited to see what comes from the jwst 😄😄

Last day at work till the 4th, keen for a little break 👌

I have one of those 3 things 🤣

Manifold is off!!! Finally! Feels good to have accomplished this! Gonna tape over the exhaust ports on the head. Next big task is actually installing the helicoils. that's gonna be fun Also dumped the oil, gonna let it drip for a few days, get that last wee bit out that I usually don't. Not that its gonna make much more of a difference but oh well 🤣 On the topic of oil, Jets recent post in his Jets Tuning thread got me thinking about oil choices. I usually use nulon full syn 10W-40, anyone have any other recommendations on oil choice? Full-syn, semi-syn? Which one do you use and why? Also noticed a bunch of bolts loose that hold the cartridge on to the exhaust housing of the turbo, something I never noticed before! Not that it really matters anyway seeing as the turbo is fried, but worth noting. If you look carefully you can see where the housing hit the strut tower, taking some paint along for the ride 🤦♂️

Yea my wee keyboard warrior arms aren't the strongest. Also I have no idea what I'm doing lol.
-
Those were the most annoying bots I think I've ever had to remove. Period 🤣🤣 On dinner duty so manifold will come off tomorrow after work. All studs are loose so will come off easy now. Ended up sticking with the 2 spanner method and some slightly better techniques, paired with more force and swearing. Small victories! 💪
-
Cheers for advice @JETURBO! didn't get any time this arvo to get stuck into it unfortunately, but will be continuing this journey after work tomorrow. Might swing past Sydney Tools after work and see if I can find a bigger 10mm, the one I have is definitely not up to the task!

Update on the manifold removal. Dump pipe is off, turbo coolant feed is off, oil feed and return is off. As expected, I'm struggling to remove the lower 2 manifold bolts that sit behind the turbo flange. If I have time today I'll attempt to get the turbo off the manifold first like @JETURBO suggested... But I'm still going to need to remove the manifold so I'm gonna end up in the same situation anyway. I tried pretty damn hard to remove one of the two by going at it from under the car, did the old 2 spanner trick for more leverage but stopped after noticing that 10mm spanner was bending an awful lot.... Fearing I was gonna snap the spanner I took a break, need another angle on these things. Can't get an ugger dugger in there either unfortunately or a socket... though I haven't actually tried the latter yet. Any tips on removing such a stubborn bolt? Thinking about getting a longer 10mm spanner, maybe that'll help?

Big fan of this setup, actually what my brother has on his rig atm. The lag is definitely noticable! But its not bad at all, actually kinda like that "boost loading" feeling hahahha. And yea I totally agree that it would be more bang for buck, its just the supporting mods situation that I'm stuck with. I only have a 255 intank pump, which I'd really like to upgrade before getting a turbo like the 3584. The fact is I have a turbo ready to go just sitting here, and I feel like its kinda a waste to not use it. It was free after all Been pretty religious with this since I bought the car, so I'll probably do this now too. If it makes less mess and stress when taking the turbo off then that's an added benefit! Seems like I have a few things to do! will keep the thread updated with my progress Going alright so far, nothings too hard... next challange I think will be getting the two manifold bolts that sit behind the turbo flange, like @JETURBO mentioned. They're tighter than a nuns... Thinking maybe I'll attempt to get the turbo off the manifold first like Jet also mentioned, then take the manifold the head. Will see which way I end up going when I get to that stage. Next thing will be getting a jack and stands and drain the oil and coolant. Baby steps!

Negative, don't have a trolley jack or stands to lift the car up lol Left them at my parents house when I moved out at the beginning of the year because I moved into an apartment at the time. So yea, just held up by the lack of above mentioned tools. Once I get them I'll be sweet to continue I figured there wouldn't be much, if any, oil that would come from the turbo seeing as not a lot of oil settles in them. I am mainly concerned about how much oil would come out of the sump when I remove the oil return from it... But if its above the oil that settles in the sump then not a lot will come out of there either... Car has just clicked over 5.5k kms since its last service so I'm contemplating just dumping the oil and coolant and doing a wee service while I'm there. Coolant hasn't been changed for quite a long time. As for the turbo itself, I'm gonna wait till the new year to see if Rob gets anything back from the warranty people, we were gonna use that money to service the 3582 and buy a 45mm gate. Basically just refresh the 3582 and throw that on the car. I now have the valve springs and that's the only crucial part I need really to put the bigger turbo on the car. I'd like to do head studs too and timing chain... But I think I'm going to have to be patient and wait till I have the funds. I've maxed my zip money account before in the past and I don't wanna do that again 🤣🤣🤣 This is also dependant on how long I can keep my brothers sh*tbox run-around car. He's gotta drive his FG instead... though I don't think he minds too much seeing as it got back from Rob on Tuesday with a healthy 450kw

Wee update on the rig. Got the dump off the rear of the turbo after work yesterday. Damn bolts were tight asf. Started removing some manifold bolts and then started removing the coolant feed line to the turbo... before I realised coolant will probably go EVERYWHERE when I do this... So, need to get some jack stands and a trolley jack to get a bucket under the rig and catch the coolant, I'm guessing its probably a good idea to just drain the coolant? Or will it eventually stop pouring out everywhere? that's the only thing stopping me from removing the manifold now, once I can get something to catch the coolant and oil (probably) then its all easy sailing from there I reckon.

Funny enough, on my first car (na imprezza, sadly did not do sick skids) we found a stripped bolt that held the power steering pump.... or maybe the alternator... I can't remember. Important thing was that it was in a space where a drill could not get to. Dad and I managed to helicoil that.... Well he did I watched lol. He used an air powered drill that was at a right angle he got from work. Worked really well! loud as hell though. Might be able to use that if a drill doesn't reach. Its only in ali so it won't be hard at all to actually drill. I just want to try get it as straight a possible.

You've genuinely given me a sense of relief with this fkn car 🤣 Borderline ready to just fk it off into the corner and leave it there for many, many months. I think this whole replacement turbo situation has rubbed me the wrong way, its so frustrating. And then this discovery didn't help! Cool thing though, SCA has a sale on a helicoil kit. $50 for a 131 piece set. Not bad! I might just order that set of studs from empire elite then. If all goes well with the helicoils I can take the time to properly install the studs. Final result will be much better than the standard bolts. Thanks again champion!
-
Question about helicoils, how "reusable" are the threads? Like if I was to use the factory bolts for now, if I remove the bolts in the future to add studs the threads would still be as good as if they were factory tapped?
-
Cheers for the moral support puff lol 🤣

So, turbo is definitely f*cked now. Making noises even worse than before! After months now of waiting for this warranty outcome I've decided to screw that plan. Started the process of removing the turbo yesterday afternoon and noticed my exhaust stud bolts were loose again! I installed these studs very badly way over a year ago... Yesterday was the day I got to find out how badly. Super pissed off with myself about this, had I done it properly and not tried to rush it I wouldn't be in this mess! Couldn't have come at the worst time either! I've taken 4 studs out so far, this being the worst of the 4... To say I've learnt my lesson on taking your time with car mods is an understatement. I had plans next year (like mid next year) to pull the head off and do a bunch of stuff. I need more tools to do this though as all I have atm is that little toolbox thing you can see in the background. I definitely can't afford to take this to a shop to fix. I'd love to be able to remove the head and get the head fixed by a cylinder head shop, or better yet just replace it with a new one that doesn't have completely f*cked threads. Car is gonna be in the garage for a while, will be borrowing my brothers sh*tbox (1990-something hrv that has been in a wee car kiss in a roundabout) until I can work out wtf I'm going to do with this car. My idea atm, purely just to get the thing back on the road is to helicoil the holes and get another set of studs, maybe the empire elite set. I do still have all the factory bolts but I don't really wanna use them on holes with a helicoil. I'd rather loctite some studs in there and never look back. Has anyone here ever helicoil'd an exhaust stud hole with the head still in the car? Obviously if it was on a bench it would be way easier but I can't do that atm lol. If you were in this situation, what would you do? I'd like say, you live and you learn... I know I have and I know this is all on me... Still sucks though 🙃 @JETURBO I'm gonna take the turbo off the way you've recommended. The manifold will still need to come off though, so any tips on removing those stubborn manifold bolts you mentioned? gave it a wee crack yesterday with a 10mm spanner but space is tight in there and I can't really get a good grip. They are tight af!
-
I remember trying this once, a very long time ago. I failed miserably. It was very hard to get a spanner in there! 🤣
