Very off topic question, nothing to do with Falcons at all. Anyone know what the ID of the vacuum hoses that connect the turbo and wg to the boost controller is? I have nothing at home to measure it 🤣🤣🤣 (Not even a ruler )

Happy friday @Puffwagonlol, nice way to end the week

Soz bro you can't say f*ck on this forum, its coded by snowflakes I have watched the skid factory vids since Al went his own way down the yt road with woody. I know for a fact there is detailed videos about how to weld cast, but for the life of me I can't seem to find the right ones 🤦♂️ EDIT: I didn't even know you joined the forums last night ahahahahah Its legit a billion times better than the FB pages/groups. People here seem to know wtf they are talking about lol and give you help and/or constructive criticism rather than just sh*tting all over you

Sounds like a fked mouse. I had mouse issues with an old corsair gaming mouse that I took to work, ended up taking it apart and replacing the switches. Good as new now! In fact better, the switches I got are amazing and I wanna swap the ones in my mouse at home now 🤣 As for your issue though @bossmang, try break down the issue and fix it by removing one variable at a time. So first, if I was in your situation, try a different mouse and see if the problem persists.

Annoying that they packed it so dumb but good on them for resolving it so quick!

Long term storage solutions can come later, for now he's just been using external drives because he'd be using laptops, but I'd defs push him towards a more robust storage method and maybe used external drives as backups instead. I wanna look at doing an unraid or truenas build with some leftover PC parts this year for my raw photos, might use that as a testing thing and do something similar with 2nd hand parts for him later on. Seems like an intense process to set up and manage such builds, but that's likely because I've never done it before and currently have no idea how to do it properly. But there is pleeeenty resources online for this I was planning on doing this anyway, purely out of "good practice" I guess haha. Always done bios and driver updates early on in the setup process just to ensure the latest ones are installed and being used. Windows 11 though.... Think I'll stick to win10 and wait out the bugs in 11. Nothing against it, just don't wanna be an early adopter and suffer through annoying bugs.

Yea I agree, he said he already has a storage plan for his video files. Its something he'll need to think about more in the future though for sure. I'm thinking he might use a NAS or something for raw video storage

Helping a fellow FG enthusiast and good friend of mine with a PC build. He start YT last year (Final Form in YT if you're interested) and had been editing on a laptop. Laptop crapped out, and was struggling to edit videos anyway. He asked for help choosing components for a PC build that would be able to edit up to 4k videos without breaking the bank. His original budget was 2k including a monitor, and after telling him about the chip shortage and GPU shortage and how this is severely effecting PC parts prices, he said he'd save a bit more to up the budget. After this conversation he was very aware that now is not a good time to be building PCs due to the prices of some components, but this issue isn't going any time soon and he can't continue his passion and grow his YT audience if he can't edit videos. With the 2k budget in mind, the build was originally going to be: CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600x MOBO - MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS RAM - 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz (CMK32GX4M2E3200C16) GPU - Galax GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB SSD - Seagate BarraCuda 1TB M.2 NVMe PSU - Corsair 650W RM650x CASE - Corsair Carbide 4000D Airflow MONITOR - AOC 27in QHD IPS 155Hz Adaptive Sync Gaming Monitor (Q27G2S) This ended up coming to just shy of $2.4k. You could make the argument that some things could have been changed out to get the price lower, but I felt this was a low as I'd be happy going for a video editing rig. This is what sparked old mate to save for just a little bit longer to then allow some parts to be swapped for better versions. The monitor was one thing I was adamant on not changing out, having good monitor for photo/video editing I think is crucial! Especially a QHD, a 4k was not justifiable as you can downscale video playback from 4k to 2k (not to mention upscaling too!) in premiere pro. The chosen monitor covers 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut which is more than good enough for vlog style video editing. Not to mention that is also a brilliant monitor for causal gaming - something he was also keen on getting into in his spare time. Fast forward another month, the new budget was $3500. Couple things changed, and a few additional requirements meant more things were added, such as RGB fans. I also recommened an AIO for the CPU so that some mild overclocking could be done and could be pushed further in the future if the mobo was to be upgraded. So, the final build list is: CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600x AIO COOLER- Corsair H100i Elite Capellix 240mm RGB AIO (paired with Noctua NT-H2 Thermal Paste) MOBO - MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS RAM - 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB 3200MHz (CMG32GX4M2E3200C16) GPU - Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Gaming OC 8G HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB SSD - Seagate BarraCuda 1TB M.2 NVMe PSU - Corsair 750W RM750x CASE - Corsair Carbide 4000D Airflow FANS - Corsair LL120 Dual Light Loop (x3) MONITOR - AOC 27in QHD IPS 155Hz Adaptive Sync Gaming Monitor (Q27G2S) Total cost, $3497.30 Build coming together this Saturday, will post a pretty photo when its complete Some feature creep definitely occurred during the process, he ended up wanting some RGB because he wanted it to look nice seeing as he was spending quite a bit of coin on it. Keen to get this all together

Done some more digging, looks like you're right puff. Stainless cast housings are available but they are made by other companies, like tial. If its garrett made, it'll be cast iron. Cheers for the help Off to give this info to my local zorst shop and see if he's keen on welding it up for me
-
Anyone here know much about garrett turbine housings? Been trying to find information on what the gt turbine housings are made of? Pretty certain its cast stainless but I can't find anything on Garrett's site confirming this. Just people selling them online that say "stainless". Looking for more definitive proof that they are stainless 😂

Just curious, what made you go this way over getting replacement kits from the likes of shockworks, BC, mca etc? I know they make the car low, but only if you want them to. They're adjustable, making it way more flexible Same goes for the ride quality, you can make it as stiff or as soft as you like!

EDIT: this is also dependant on if you have single zone or dual zone, SZ and DZ respectively. These terms are used in the workshop manual. In both cases its a dash out job 412-002, they are called airmix doors not flaps. This looks like a pretty intense job, the HVAC assembly doesn't need to be removed but the dash does to get access to the doors. Below is where to find the info and the statement saying remove dash (I have made it bold, underlined, and italics) Specific page, 412-002-29 ( I.e. page 29): "Shaft — Airmix Door SZ Removal NOTE: The Airmix Door Shaft (SZ) is now a service replacement part, and can be replaced WITHOUT removing the HVAC assembly, discharging the A/C refrigerant or draining the engine coolant. 1. Do not remove the HVAC asy, discharge the A/C refrigerant or drain the engine coolant, as these are not necessary to replace the air mix shaft(s). Set the ICC to Recirculation and Face modes. Remove the instrument panel (refer to section 501-12)"

Took me a while to find where I posted the link to the workshop manuals. Turns out it was in the thread "Workshop Manual" 🤣🤣 @Kris limmer have a browse in the google drive folder linked in the comment below. Download them onto your PC too, they're very handy

My partner loves this series, good eye candy but not my thing 🤣 And cheers all for the kind words wrt graduation

4 for this degree if you do it f/t. I started uni 8 years ago after high school. Did 1 year bridging course because I didn't do the highest math in school. Transferred to Mechatronics and did that for 3 years then 2 years part time (went p/t when I got my internship). Transferred to electronics right at the end of my mechatronics degree after scoring a permanent role as a junior hardware design engineer (which in hindsight was a reallllly dumb decision) and finished that over 3 years part time again. It took me a long time, but when I got the internship and subsequent permanent role in my field of study, I figured it was best for me to not overload myself with engineering work and then have to go home and study every single night as a full time student. It was too stressful juggling both. Earnt money while I studied and gained very valuable real-world experience

Fkn tell me about it My final year project (FYP) was fun though, but it was something I did in collaboration with work so it had actual meaning behind it which was nice. I also got to the end fully expecting to not get honours, degree would have been "Batchelor of Engineering (Electronics and Communications) 2nd Class" meaning I studied honours but did not meet all requirements for honours. But you still pass. However I think my project is what allowed me to meet honours.... I'm not really gonna question it though hahaha

necessary is subjective In other news, had my graduation ceremony yesterday. Not really my thing but my parents and partner wanted me to go. I was more a fan of the photos I'd taken with the family the day prior. Had to be done due to covid restrictions only allowing 2 tickets per student. So I decided to do a photoshoot the day before during sunset. Was way better than the graduation itself imo. Photo dump time of some of my more favourite pics I edited + testamur Testamur Life givers (parents) Brother and I Partner and I

Gimmick that my young and dumb brain 100% loves. Fk yea screamer

Surely just externally gate the thing, problem solvded 🤣🤣🤣 Pulsars are not complete POS, they have done an awesome job filling a huge gap in the turbo market. No they are not as good as a garrett, but they've never tried to be. They've given the everyday car enthusiast a viable upgrade option at a very competitive price!

100% agree 🤣

Right!? 😂 He doesn't like forums. Forums work way different to more "modern" (for lack of a better term) forms of collective groups sharing information. Like FB groups for example.

FFFFFFFFFFFSSSS He called me and goes "so I removed the gauge and wiggled the connector at the back and now it's fine" Are you fkn joking me. Second confirmation the gauge and/or sensor is I <3 Bananased, he turned the car to acc and the gauge was reading between 70 and 100psi. 🤦♂️
-
Reviving a very old thread after doing some digging on the forums for oil pressure values. My brother just called me asking if 150psi on his oil pressure gauge is normal..... I really don't think that is. At all! This is him cruising on the freeway too. For reference, he has a built motor, with billet pump gears and a worked pump housing. My guess on oil is some form of a Castrol 10w-40. It is a very hot day today, in the high 30s. He's thinking it could be a faulty sensor for the oil pressure gauge. I'm not so sure. I'm gonna put a scanner on it when I can to see if there's any codes. Any ideas on this? Is this concerning? Could too much oil cause this?

When someone gives you a stupidly logical response that makes you contemplate life.... Why didn't I think of that 🤣

Found an aussie seller for turbine bolts and clamps but I've never heard of them: https://www.motorsportindustries.com.au/products/turbine-housing-clamp-and-bolt-kit Anyone know of this company? The kit is $20, and the genuine stuff from ebay US is like $50... not including shipping.
