I've not seen one for anywhere near the price of a fg one. Most I see are twice the price or more(though the PW one looks sweet).

All good mate, I know the attitude, kind of why I left the shop I was working at which has built and tuned many barras including some record breaking cars in their time. I've been sitting on my hands watching and waiting for when I felt I should start down the rabbit hole. Plenty of builds out there and plenty of parts I could buy but don't necessarily feel I need them ie: oil pump gears which I hear is a big thing for limit bashers which I avoid plus I have a zf. Seen parts all over the place at all different prices, I'm not one to always buy and get burned buying rock bottom cheap stuff so I try to know who I'm buying from when it's used stuff and pay a fair price but god knows there's plenty of good wrecks out there with nice parts just waiting to be bought haha.

Good to know a couple years holding off learning and seeing other cars and working for someone who's built monster barras has taught me nothing then mr negative. Cheers.

Dump is the only part I'd care about buying lol, 3582 can't get near 400kw without flapper mod? Yes I can change valve springs, intake is obvious since I just removed the plenum, don't need a surge tank really, my tank is always full. I can do all the labour myself, could probably rebuild the motor if I had the space and the tools.

How do you figure? I do all my own labour so it's parts and tuning. Seen plenty of cooler and piping kits for round 1500, plenum plus stock fuel setup 700ish, new pump 2-300 injectors 500, valve springs 300, tune 1000, fg tb adapter. What am I missing? Like I said it doesn't have to be and most likely wont be all brand new bling. Not to mention recouping a bit on the parts I take off and probably sell. I understand zf probably won't be happy but I can worry about that if I want to keep the power down a bit to save it. Not sure what else would really be necessary.

Not on a low budget, just wanting to spend less time with it apart now than have to spend the time doing it later and honestly find the b series plenum ugly and a pain to work around. All I'm really concerned about is the efficiency of the stock plenum if and when I decide enough isn't enough Kinda like that though I don't mind doing it, but I loathe the amount of skin the car took from me doing it(I know, fun times). I've probably got 5k atleast to throw at it but really don't think I'll need that much. If my old work weren't so iffy I'd go there as the tuner is good with barras but from what I've seen jez do with them, dvs will probably do my tuning as he seems to take a lot more pride in his work. My problem is I see, I want, I get, but I do my research which is why I thought I should get advice from some of you here as I'm sure plenty have done it or looked into it at the least.

I have both thankfully, only thing that bums me out right now is it will be sitting there not running until I get it all and will be stuck riding and driving a Mazda 3 haha. I've got experience with modifying cars and such but never really done my own to this extent so I'm just stuck weighing up the pros and cons of doing the conversion as opposed to sticking with the stock plenum and seeing what I can do with it. Guess I'll just have to see where funds are at and think about it for a while, I read that there's multiple advantages of going the FG plenum so I'm keen on the idea and after dealing with pulling out the old B series one I'm kicking myself thinking about having to wrestle that thing back in now and any future modifications that might require me doing it all over again.

I plan on about 400kw with room to increase if it becomes a weekend car as it's a daily hack to build on currently and I don't do a lot of mileage. I do most of the work myself installation wise so that keeps cost down and not all of it will be new parts considering the amount of stuff out there these days, but by a couple grand I meant 'hopefully' around 3-4k. If it was a newer car or in better condition than it is cosmetically I would do it better but for what it is, I'm content doing it cheaper than with all new bling haha.

Hey all just looking for some advice on changing my BF XR6T plenum to an FG turbo one. So I just went through the fun of pulling my intake plenum off to sort out a couple of things around it and have pondered installing an FG one instead of putting the stock one back in. My BF is completely stock and other than cosmetic issues it seems to be in good condition with good compression and is fairly clean for 180k kms. So from what I have looked at in the past the FG plenum is not only easier to work with/around, it's actually a good upgrade that's not too expensive compared to a full aftermarket plenum. Doing the run through(knowing about injectors, fuel rail, etc) it looks like at the least I will need to get the plenum, harness adapter if I choose to run an FG throttle body, cold side piping. This then lead me to my stock intercooler. Other than obviously not being a good option I realised that the stock cooler piping would not be viable thus adding a new cooler(plaz most likely) to my list. After realising that I figured it's basically a complete piping system needed including hot side. I was planning on doing battery relocation to the boot to get turbo side intake anyway so that's fine and after realising this hole I'm getting myself into, I thought it would also require a tune. To top that all off I also know there are a few other supporting mods I thought should probably be done at the same time ie: cat(maybe dump?), injectors and anything else small that I can't think of right now. So after what I thought was not going to be much it seems I'm looking at a couple of grand if not more, which has brought me to the point of wondering if the plenum is worth it for me. I was just originally thinking of doing the PW throttle body relo to get rid of the crossover etc but realise with that alone I would be doing much the same thing just without the FG plenum. I'm looking to get a healthy 400kw and I know I'm not doing that without most of what I've already listed but am unsure on the extra cost of doing the plenum swap being worthwhile. Any thoughts or anything important I'm missing would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Hey all, I need to get a new centre bearing for my 06 BF XR6T. I am just wondering if the 2 different offset measurements (11mm-25mm) applies to these updated style bearings(pictured) or just the older BA style bearing? I have the style pictured and just unsure as many of the ones I can find for sale don't state an offset measurement.

Sorry for the double post but could the perished rubber boot that sits around it be what holds it steady?

Hi guys, I have finally tracked down the god awful rattle coming from my right rear wheel area(I hope) on my bf xr6t with pbr brakes. It seems that the handbrake drum cable lever where the end of the cable hooks on to the drum brake lever mechanism is flapping all over the place. I couldn't find it for ages as it doesn't do it when the handbrake is on but when off it moves up and down about an inch and bounces off the brake dust cover causing the tingy metal on metal rattle. So for the guys who've changed a million drum shoes by now, do you know why this would be happenning? It seems fine on the passenger side with only slight play with the handbrake off, the right side though has atleast 5 times more play. Is it possible that the actual handbrake cable has stretched only on the one side? I can't imagine it would have anything to do with drum shoe adjustment. The handbrake works fine though could do with a couple less clicks on engagement, I jacked the bad side up and couldn't seem to turn the wheel by hand with the handbrake on(lsd may have hampered my attempt though). I've changed drum shoes and discs on a few other cars before and I thought usually this lever is attached in some way to the adjuster mechanism but from researching it seems it's not on these pbr's. I had a go trying to get the disc off tonight but it was getting too late to be smashing it with the mallet so will be having another go at it tomorrow. The pic below from the tutorial post is the lever in question.

I picked up the parts I need today, couldn't complain for $15 but just want to make sure I dont get any seeping from around the fitting.

Hey all, so last time I did my service I think the sump plug might have started to strip and lately when I get under the car I'm noticing oil on the sump(think I need to do rocker cover gasket too while I'm at it haha). So I've decided to do what I've seen a couple of people have done and tap in a -8 AN union fitting, what I'm curious about is watching good old benny's cresta vid he seems to have either a gasket or thread sealer where the fitting goes into the sump. Just wondering if any here have done it or had it done and what if anything was used to prevent a possible leak from between the sump and fitting?

Ahhh so it runs coolant through that, I always assumed the trans fluid ran through piping in the radiator for cooling.
