XR6T 550

Guys I started a new post cause I dont remember how to use. It's been a while. FG XR6 TURBO with 6sp auto. Does the red P actually ever go out?. I left n locked vehicle at look lunch time and P on trans shifter was still red altho lit up bright when I tried to open locked door. Is this normal?
