  1. Took a long time to get it worked out but I had a new tuner look at it and retune the ZF and the issue was gone. It seems like the tune done by the first tuner had some dodgy line pressures or something like that but the issue has been completely tuned out now.
  2. I had that thought but pretty sure diff bushes are fine but mechanic will take another look. I was also thinking if it was diff bushes it would affect more than just 3-4th shift.
  3. I've actually come to realise lurch wouldn't be the right word for what mine is doing.. it feels like the car has been put into neutral at around 5km/h so I'm guessing maybe the torque converter is disengaging then or something (unless that's what everyone means by lurch). it is tuned but maybe they don't see it as an issue so don't tune that bit out. Might ask next time I get it tuned. When manually shifting, it does show 1 on the cluster so I'm assuming it's in 1st..
  4. Yeah only 80k. I am pretty sure the oil level is okay, they're going to do engine mounts (not trans, got confused) but I think they are barely showing signs of cracks. I can't attest to the previous owner but he only had it for a short time and the previous owner was an old man and it wasn't modified at that point. Worst case I could be expecting to replace the ZF and I'd probably just get a built one lol. I'm guessing it's an issue with clutch packs or something (really no idea what I'm talking about though), just crossing my fingers it could be something cheaper.
  5. I'm not sure if they're totally stuffed but I think they're showing signs of surface cracks so they'll be getting done along with a few other things, such as cracked tailshaft centre bearing, and some other stuff. May be the cause, may not be. We will see next time I go back to get it fixed.
  6. Sadly no change, shifting is much smoother overall, however same issue persists. I've been told I also need my engine mounts and trans mounts done too so possibly that could be the cause but unsure at this stage.
  7. It's going back in for a ZF service in a week so I might check with the tuner then. The tuner did say they would firm up the shifts so possibly my definition of firm isn't correct. I just wasn't sure if it was normal or not mostly because I assumed firm meant more noticeable and rough but still 'smooth' and within the trans. This jerk is so violent that it feels like it's coming from the whole drive train but I could be wrong. Anyway, I appreciate your advice and I'll give an update once I chat with my tuner!
  8. Hey all, Had a quick and probably easy question for you guys in the know. I've started noticing my car (mk2 g6et) lurching a little bit when I am just about to come to a stop. I've read a few things about the "zf lurch" which is pretty normal but I've seen a few different definitions of the lurch. The lurch I experience seems to happen once the car reaches 5km/h while decelerating, occasionally it can lurch a bit higher up (maybe around 20km/h instead of 5km/h). I originally thought it was when the car was shifting back to first, but I played around with it a little and noticed that it still occurs when I have already shifted back to first (to test I shifted back to first at like 15km/h and then it still lurched at 5km/h). What I'm wondering is does my issue sound like the normal "zf lurch" or does the ZF Lurch specifically refer to the lurch from 2nd to 1st?
  9. Hey mate, I should add that this happens in manual shifting mode as well so I'm not sure if it would be the trans trying to go up a few gears but I do understand what you're saying. It seems to happen when I maintain the medium throttle input, if I back off the throttle a little bit before the 3-4 shift (generally around 70km/h) then it is back to being fairly smooth.
  10. ZF Service - never had one, so I'm getting it done soon but I'm not sure if that'll fix the issue. Only at 80k so not a lot. Normal service - a month ago
  11. It wasn't a generic tune (it was tuned with the engine at the same time), and it also had the same issue prior to being tuned. Unless I'm misinterpreting what you mean by generic. I was hoping a tune would've fixed it but sadly not so I'm just trying to work out what else would be the cause as I'm pretty sure the ZF and engine are in some kind of harmony. It's just confusing the issue doesn't seem to occur in WOT.
  12. It's going in for a ZF service soon so I'll get them to take a look at that. I'm also just a bit confused why there is no issue with minor throttle or WOT, and only when in the middle. Thanks for the help mate. Only other thing I thought I'd ask, I did have the shift fart and loved the sound, and I don't have it now. Is there any reason to have shift farts/no shifts farts etc? I think the tuner told me they found that firm shifts prolonged the box but curious if there is a negative to going back to torque reduction being enabled.
  13. Would that be something that a mechanic could see fairly easily to check? It's going in for a ZF service in a couple of weeks so curious to see if they could give it a quick look while they are there, or if it involves a lot of stuffing about. Potholes was probably a bad way to describe it, as I do avoid potholes. The roads I have to drive on are unfortunately fairly crap so there are a few small depressed parts of roads on the edges which is how I noticed it.
  14. I used to have the torque reduction as part of the gearbox tune, so I know what that feels like (and loved it). While it does have a little bit of a fart, the jolt I'm feeling isn't the same as what is usually felt by the torque reduction. This one feels a lot more violent and shakes the car a bit.
  15. Hi all, I noticed on my G6E that when I go over a decent bump/pot hole etc on my left rear wheel, I can hear a bit of a knock inside the cabin which I can't usually here if the other 3 wheels go over any bumps. When I go over a speed bump with all wheels, there is no bump as I'm guessing more of the load is distributed. The noise isn't loud enough that I think a strut it about to burst through the body but I was just curious if anyone might have any ideas what that could be so I could get it fixed up? Thanks in advance
