Is there anything to be aware of when looking at early model Fg? Like 08 models.. Particularly ute.. like anything they didn’t trouble shoot until later models, years 11-14? Cheers.

Gotcha. I don’t mean to ramble on, but say if you just went aftermarket heat exchanger that would surely prevent the milkshake from happening? Heard the oem ones are just cheap junk from China. Surely putting a good one it would significantly minimise any harm. I used to have a BF turbo and flogged it around a bit and didn’t have any problems with overheating the trans. I don’t know, I just guess Im pretty poor otherwise I’d have zero dramas getting the fan etc. what tuner do you recommend in Adelaide? Was thinking of going to Heinrich but up in the air with the idea.

What about if I just swapped out the oem heat exchanger and put a pwr one in? Any no no with that?

Yeah that’s a good point, I live in Adelaide but possibly may move to the Sunshine Coast at some point this year.

Legend, cheers bro 👍

Just daily the car man, nothing crazy. Got quoted the 740 today supplied and fitted, I’d be looking at 7-900 for one with a fan then would have to pay for labour after that, that’s why I was wondering. And the zf doesn’t come stock with a fan, only trying to avoid the milkshake, not doing to get a fan lol so you think it wouldn’t be a silly decision to go without fan? Thanks man.

Hey guys, just looking to get some input on what people’s thoughts are on the necessity of a fan on external trans cooler? Would they be still worth doing without the fan? And do a good job of keeping the trans cool? I’m not looking to push heaps of power, like 330rwks, would one without a fan still be a good option? Just got quoted 740 fitted and supplied for a derale trans cooler.. any info would be good. Obviously a fan would be ideal but they’re quite expensive, plus I’d have to pay to get it fitted.. thanks.

Yeah that makes sense mate, thanks. The tuner is the one that has to set em up etc at the end of the day.. I’ve just seen people say if you’re not chasing heaps of power and probably won’t down the track, no point using a 1000cc injector no where near its duty cycle, but would be better using a smaller injector and use more percentage of its cycle if that makes sense? Also, If I’m only looking at around the 300rwkw mark give or take, is there any point in doing the dump pipe? Or would be fine just putting in a high flow cat? A high flow pump, injectors, high flow cat and a tune should put the power up a bit? Thanks mate.

Hey guys, will be getting a Fg xr6 turbo ute in the near future and just wondering what size injectors to go with? The mods I want to do are obviously injectors, fuel pump, dump pipe and high flow cat with a tune. I see everyone tends to go with 1000cc injectors, but I’m not chasing heaps of power so would 650cc injectors be a silly idea or not really? just wondering what people’s thoughts are or if there’s anyone that’s not running 1000cc.. Thanks.

Hey guys, just wondering what the reliability is like with an Fg tray ute. I did have a BA one tonne ute a while ago and I thought it was fine.. gearbox started to slip a bit.. does anyone have an insider review of the Fg one tonne obviously with the ZF 6 speed is a good gear box.. I wouldn’t be putting heavy loads on it, I’m just more comfortable in a ute I feel and like the idea of an Fg.. anything to watch out for? Thanks.

Yeah nice.. I haven’t really looked at the G6 and was quite surprised how fair priced they are.. seen one the other day 2011 model with 111,000ks and he wanted $23,500.. xr6 turbo would have been up around 30.. the trim and interior looks nice I think aswell... thanks everyone for their replies.

What are They like non lsd? Are they alright if you don’t try and spin the tyres all the time or they struggle with the power once you up the boost a bit?
-
Would you recommend a G6? Obviously it’s a luxury line vehicle but no off issues other than the common diff bushes etc?
-
I’m looking at getting a G6E Turbo.. they’re reasonably priced for the 09-11 models.. I’m just wondering what year if there is any to stay always from.. 09 model and a few years up is relatively close to the B series and are there and trouble shooting issues coming into the F series? If that makes sense lol I don’t want anything crazy but I think a G6 with and exhaust injectors and a tune would be a great daily.. 260-280rwks is all I’m really looking for.. a G6 should be rather reliable running that sort of power I’d imagine? I had an 07 BF xr6 turbo and that thing was a nightmare.. though I loved it I sold it.. anyone had a G6 or got one? What’s your experience like so far? Thanks.

Alright that's all I needed to hear. I'm just scared of gettin into a turbo again and it's a lemon like my 07 model.. but surely a much later fgx with a good dealer behind it should iron out a few heartbeats.. On another note you need a bit of recognition for your persistence on this forum. Whenever I post an inquiry you're always the first one to reply. Thanks for your time and knowledge on this post and other posts. I'm sure I'm talking for alot of other noobs aswell. Thanks Keith.
